If you can do all that for 1,000 after all this is done and your bored let me know! as i will pay you 2,000 to do mine :thumbsup. Andrew this looks like allot of fun, but shit this deffinantly snowballing as marko said. and as for filling the holes this is what kenny told me as I was gonna do the same with the dowls but there is a million ways to fuck a bitch. Anyhow keep up the good work It will be bitchen when all is done then I can go try and keep up with you.
and the interior and the truck and driveway and the ????? :slomo:
Well, the boat was supposed to go to Kevin @ KMG's yesteday. I got to my shop early to pull the cavitation plates off. The Fockin bolts are epoxied all the way through the bottom and the head of the bolts are filled in. Each bolt is a nightmare. There a few in there that I dont think I can get out without drilling. This is bullshit
The boat will go down to Kevin's when I can get these bolts off :swear
Ok , you've had all weekend! pics?
Are you sure that they are epoxied? When I worked at Schiada all of the cav bolt holes were tapped into the fiberglass and then installed with silicone sealant. That means they won't fall or even drive out of the bottom without being screwed out. Just a thought... Hope it helps
I got 1 bolt completely out so far with vice grips. When the bolt came out, there was a gray powder left in the whole. It looks alot like gray marine tex.
That sucks. I've taken a couple of old boats apart so I know what you're going thru. Especially if they are old enough that they werent put together with stainless hardware! Sounds like his idea using an impact driver just to break em loose is a good idea. But you're sayin the head of the bolt is full of epoxy so you cant get a tool in it, pain in the ass! And theres a shit load of em!
I was just gonna say that, a cut off wheel. Grind a slot big enough for a big flat blade. You might fuck up the plates in the process though.
Might as well go ahead and REPLACE THE PLATES ALSO!!! :thumbsup

:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:lmao:
Has it got stainless hardware on it?
While I'm at it I should make a blast plate too. Oh and since Im doing that, I should add a new strut. Oh and since there is new plates, I should probably get new plate pads, then I will need new turnbuckles and eye levers. Fock it, why not just get a whole new cavitation setup while im at it
I wanted a triple for mine really bad but cheapskated out on that one.
I can think of one GOOD reason not to.....$$$$$$$$$$$ !
Just put it on your credit card $6 at a time...including tip.
Tripples are for "trailer queens" :gayfight
The boat that sits on this triple wont be! I drive my shit more than anyone. And im not afraid to tie it up at the bar!:champagne:
Did you get the stringers plugged yet? Lets see some pics how they turned out!
Andrew, good thing you were cooking all that food, looks like you busted out some work yesterday. Hey the sterring helm looks great, I got it cleaned up and put together, the single helm uses a lot of the same parts, there was a plastic cap that was cracked, but the one I had was perfect... the same with the cables the long one had a little crack and it was the same as the one I had will work great. I am not going to use the long steering post, so if you want that I can drop it off for you.
Cliff
J.J. Beaver made a beautiful dropthru strut for my 19' Schiada out of 1704 stainless. Might want to put some dropthru fins on too! I made the strut brace for it.
I got off the phone with JJ 15 minutes ago. I need to take my strut off.
Let me ask you this, On a drop through strut, do I cut the hole for that after the fiberglass is done or before?

Can you PM me his #?
RD
So what are you having him do? You gonna do the stripes now?
Let me ask you guys this,
Say I fill the hole for the rudder, and want to move the new hole closer to the transom, will this effect the handling of the boat any different?
The further you can get the rudder from the prop wash the better response you will get at higher speeds.
Also you said you are speed coating the bottom. It's my honest opinion that speed coating itself does nothing for performance, the only reason you see speed coating on the bottoms of other boats is because they have been ground and blueprinted and it's way easier to spray the ground bottom with graphite than it is to re-gel and wet sand the whole bottom and maintain shape. In other words the speed coat itself is not what gives you the benefits, it's just an easy and effective covering for ground and blueprinted glass
Basically i would take the money you are going to spend on the speed coat and spend it somewhere else, cause the speed coat by itself isn't going to give you any noticeable benefits
When I flipped the boat and took the speed coat off, I noticed that the bottom has previously been worked on. High spots were ground down and low spots were filled. Like you mentioned, the only reason I am speed coating the bottom is to cover it up.
I am glad that moving the rudder closer to the transom will actually improve the performance. By moving the rudder back, will give me room to keep the seats in their original locations.
fix bulkhead, patch a bunch of holes, add glass to floor, speed coat bottom, flow coat floors/bulkhead/transom, add stripes to the outside of the boat.
Kevin is doing tons of work and will be knocking it out VERY quickly. Almost sounds to good to be true
I met Kevin yesterday and he is a great guy to deal with.
I saw the work he did to his jet boat. Completely flawless paint job and the inside is spotless.
