I appreciate your interesting contributions to this thread.
As a current non-purchaser, I see there's two graphic schemes with a 3K price difference. Is one of those the "RG" model and the other the "LE" ?
Which is which and is essentially the "RG" the more performance oriented ?
The Robby Gordon edition RG has has an orange frame multiple options from the factory you can choose between I believe it’s three graphic packages but you can’t choose the colors necessarily the LE version is the middle of the road it has a few more options than the base but you can customize the graphic wrap between the three different models Then there are several and I mean a lot of color choices you can do to make your graphics nearly a custom set up the base model which I believe is not offered any more than what I originally bought did not have the carbon fiber seats did not have a roof or bead lock wheels and had very basic graphics and a few other things and their initial offering at one point around July 15 of 2021 they said they were not going to offer the high-end shocks that caused an uproar and they came back and said if you had bought an earlier you would get the high-end shocks on the base models I have still been told that you might not get to speed tires

The base model was pretty much a good deal for people that we’re going to race and we’re gonna have to do their own customizing like an aluminum roof didn’t care about the tires but got the same basic package when it comes to Frame and all the other components that make these things kind of stand out.

The best thing if you really wanna know is to go on the Speed website and read what they have on there today and ask questions if you were interested in getting one at this point otherwise if you’re buying one that someone else had I guess you’re gonna fall into line with whatever was in play at that time

Did they kill the speed thread on glamisdunes?
No way. It’s the most posted thread on Glamis Dunes. Most unicorn deposit holders quit posting or got banned from the site. But there is still a bunch of crap talking on the Speed thread.

I don’t know why this topic is so polarizing and the product (or lack there of) is so hated on.. it’s bizarre to me

You have stepped up big time running RDP for many years now. Not sure why you finding the hate bizarre? RDP no longer populated by mostly LHC / Parker Performance Boating people. At one time you probably knew just about everybody.

I asked LOF to knock it off and he did.. I have deleted some of the comments trying to bate him.. me deleting those is about as nice as I’m gonna get in saying we aren’t going down that path again. It was ducking up my whole website.

Let it go guys..

I find it funny too, in the CHASE TOON thread, people are praising them from going from paper to product in 3 years. Yet, it uses somebody elses, motors, electronics etc..... and there is only 1 so far.

And here, and other forums, they bash on Speed for taking 3 years to completely develop something 100% from scratch, including assembly lines, it's baffling

Folks like to poke holes at things IMO.
Chase did a good job of releasing updates every so often, but staying silent on when it would be ready. They even pulled out of events when the product was not consumer ready. There was zero, look at me, I am better than everything else on the market.

Speed went a different direction.

My guess(and yes, I've participated in some of the "bashing") is that Speed/Robby has asked for it. As mentioned above, Chase was developed with some small updates and such to gain attention, but there was no LAM type advertising and bashing on other toons. They simply designed and built something unique, letting the product speak for itself when it was completed.

Robby has missed multiple delivery dates, talked trash about every other SXS in the industry, and shouted at the world about how much better his car will be than anything else on the planet. He also took deposits(some assume to fund the project but funding isn't really known), which as far as I know Chase Toons hasn't taken any deposits on them. Certainly not 3 years before delivery.

In my opinion, all of the drama and 200 page threads are exactly what Robby wants. He seems to enjoy being the center of attention and loves responding to the haters on IG(with some of the worst grammar I've ever seen).

Most of us Speed haters weren't, just KIA dislikers. But hey I guess you've stepped in for him. We all want to see everyone get their car, but the bs is deep.

And when did people stop rooting for the underdog, the guy who decided to take on something monumental, a fellow boater, and obvious gear head?

Even if I didn't have one on order, I'd be stoked to see Speed taking on the big 3.

Who cares if they are arrogant, I'll bet most CEO's have a little arrogance in them.

I have not met one CEO who did not have arrogance in them. However, almost all of them balance that internally and externally very well. I have had more than 1 meeting with my current CTO (was CEO) and he speaks his mind and highlights how our products are better all the time. The huge difference, he has the products, independent verification and history to say those things and backs them up.

Speed CEO does not have independent reviews to back up those claims.

Underdogs don't shit on the competition.
Underdogs know when the time is right to strike.
Underdogs can and have been unsuccessful.

Not baffling at all. Luxe is successful at marketing.
Speed is not.

I would buy a luxe now. Basically unproven
I would not buy a speed for years, until it's proven.

As a consumer I have choices. I dont care if it 100% from scratch or not.

It's not the time it's taking Speed to deliver. It's the marketing tactics.
They missed the mark with guys like me. For now anyways. Once a 1000 or more are out there and feedback rolls in who knows. 'Prove to me why I should buy your product' without one in the dirt all we have is the internet and we are all very confused.

Luxe had a idea, it came to life. Looks great. That's it, simple

To be fair its not apples to apples.
Speeds endeavor is much larger and spans numerous countries and continents.

Speed has the potential for 15000 customers. Luxe has???
The ratio of positive to negative discussion is advantage luxe.

Last I dont think anyone wishes failure to speed or the individuals. Nobody I know anyways. We are all eager to see how it runs. Ive said it many many times, if it's as good as we have been told then the naysayers will be buyers.

I do know my next UTV is about 12 months from now. Theres NO doubt I will have 50k into it. If Speed is proven by then, well I have another option

Yeah I agree it doesn’t matter whether you’re on race desert, Glamis or this one The haters outweigh the people who actually have put money down on the car and for the most part are being patient just like me and quite a few others if you have watched this from the very beginning and invested some time in watching the YouTube videos you will see how this car evolved in a massive way from what it was originally supposed to be and if you put a down payment in the beginning you were never asked to put more as the shows went on showing what this has evolved in to unless you wanted to buy the options so now you’re getting a lot more car of course you need to get the car eventually and it Hass to not be a lemon but you’re getting a lot more car Than the original scope presented at the Sand show in 2019 I think

I’m only coming up on my one year anniversary of a down payment which was last February and I honestly never expected to see the car for a couple years sure I want it but I have another one and I’m not losing any time in the desert or anywhere else just be patient the haters are gonna hate no matter what

I would say during that time frame the other manufacturers have started to step up a little Canam not so much but we’ll see what they come out with next After building a couple cars myself welding over time on just about every car in our group from V eights on nitrous all the way down to side-by-side’s I would say this car is built very well and will get you some decent bang for the buck and it just has to be proven that it’s reliable and that’s what time will tell Nicholson from chupacabra who put a deposit down very early I thought he was number seven but it looks like he’s actually number six will definitely put some stuff out for the public and these 10 cars will have enough time and the rest of the season to get some miles on them personally that’s why I bought mine way late but before cost went up was because I didn’t want to be at the front of the line in case there were unforeseen issues Robbie and Todd has surrounded themselves with some of the best in the business helping in designing this I have no doubt That they have tried their hardest I hope it works out well not just for me but for everyone
Hopefully by the time you all start reading this tomorrow there’s a container ship in Long Beach getting ready to unload at least I thought it was on the 11th

Yeah I’d agree and Trump talked a lot of shit too but I miss him more every day there’s certain people in the world that handle them selves in certain ways and then there’s other ways maybe those other ways are more appropriate Then there’s the Internet and all of us hell you guys don’t know if I’m a teenager or if I’m 55 and born in 1967 that’s the internet for you. Personally all this shit is grabbed a lot of my attention and I’m watching a whole lot less porno

What's so bizarre about it??

On one side you have the gamblers, and on the other side you have people that don't gamble.

Gamblers either win big, or go down in flames. They very seldom break even.

Either way though, it's always entertaining to watch. 👍🏼

P. S. Me thinks if you didn't place a bet in this deal, you'd have an entirely different perspective?

Just a thought.

For a second I thought he might be Robbie 🧐

Same.

It’s simply due to the fact that some people are saying they can make up to 14k profit for a product that simply does not exist.
This guy has taken money from many and hasn’t shown anything being produced. #RobbieMadoff

Try speaking the word "period" or "comma". It works, I'm not being critical as I do the same.

Luxe is a little different story than Speed. Curt and Bob were normal guys with day jobs and an idea, Curt sold his Blue Eliminator "Havasu Vice" and risked everything to build a boat from nothing. They took on boat service and detailing to bring in some cash, rented a building and are hand building every piece. They dont have the luxury of big money backers and factories in China. Robbie isnt going to the factory everyday bending tubes, welding, painting, wiring. Curt has a permanent layer of fiberglass resin dust on his skin.

That is interesting. Vietnam Infrastructure for that type of manufacturing seems kind of challenging. I was there just before the Rona outbreak (Nov 2019) and was surprised at how far behind rest of Asia they are.

If its for tariffs, I would be interested to know why Vietnam and not Thailand? Thailand already has several motorcycle manufacturers set up and running.
