Brought her home today. My son already gave her a bath.Bumping this to the top.
My son and I are picking up a bone stock 1995 extra cab Chebby tomorrow from the original owner. She’ll be getting dropped with a Belltech 4/6 sitting on some fresh Budniks. Not going too crazy with it but we’re looking for the classic 90s look again.
She’ll be looking pretty towing our Cole daycruiser soon enough!
Stay tuned
Can’t wait to watch this comeBrought her home today. My son already gave her a bath.
1995, single owner, 5.7L, interior is a 9/10 for its age, the body is and 8/10 with a couple tiny dings that are hard to find, paint shows well for its age, 99k original miles. Has a few minor issues but we’ll get ‘em dialed in.
Belltech 4/6 drop is ordered and will be here by the weekend. Just trying to finalize the wheel sizes right now. Going with Budniks. Leaning towards 18” and need to come up with a good tire size. We like some side wall.
Anyone with suggestions or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

I was looking at an awd 2018 Denali not so long ago. Did some digging and heard good things about these guys. Put my vote in for lowering it.Funny I have a 2013 Denali here in Hawaii. Was thinking of bringing to Havasu. It has a 6.2 and only 60k miles. Thought it would be fun to super charge or twin turbo it and lower like the 80s-90s. This is when it was new and just shipped in from the CA dealer. It is sad looking and needs a bit of love as it just sits most of the time.

Beautiful! Thank you for digging those upThese were 265/60/18s
Forged Centerline wheels, correct??These were 265/60/18s
I love barn doors, wish I had ordered those, not sure if I even thought about it when we were going down the list, I just kept saying "yes" to everything. The only 3 options they wouldn't give me was, heated mirrors, rear a/c and heated seats, all weren't offered on the 99' 2-door. The rear a/c lacked space, and the seats they claimed was because the way the front seats moved for access to the back seat. But mirrors? Who knows.Damn, yours is the sister to mine. 98 2dr 2wd barn door LS trim with 85k original miles
3/5 belltech, truck rode great, extra sidewall helped with the crappy california roadsBeautiful! Thank you for digging those up
Was that a 3/5, 4/6, 5/7 drop?
Yep, ordered those from Lou over there, had them shipped, 3 wks later centerline was shut down, broke my heart manForged Centerline wheels, correct??
My dad custom ordered a 98 in that color but extended cab GMC, it was to mostly haul his race car, but he specd it out nicely and went with the big block. It was really a great truck, and when he traded it in to get the same truck, but newer with the duramax, his truck was already sold before he left the lot. If I remember right I think the dealer gave him 15k for it on trade in. That Era or GMs are really good trucks.I have nearly the identical truck… consider the updated tow mirrors, so much better visuals of whats going on around you!
Is yours a big block or small block?

You know what’s crazy….I was just talking to the winner of that truck over the weekend. He has a 97 1/2 ton for sale that we seriously thought about getting. I’m in LA and he’s in Dallas and we were going to do a road trip but I found our 95 locally. Super cool guy from SoCal that’s living in TX now.i’m not crazy about the accent colors, but daaaayummmm The Roadster Shop builds some amazing things
Mine is the 5.7, I bought the truck new and I was deciding between a 99' Lowered dually and the brand new 2000 short bed crew cab. if the Dually had been blue or white I would have gone that route but it was Green and my boats are Blue, would have clashedI have nearly the identical truck… consider the updated tow mirrors, so much better visuals of whats going on around you!

This truck has a stroked big block with a cam and slightly upgraded valve springs. It was a waste of money, should have just done a long block and saved $4-5k. It certainly has more torque, but it doesn't burn the tires off the truck like I would have expected. Should have probably done some better heads to let it breathe and maybe a better torque converter? I'm done spending money on it, its just my dump runner now. I have an '02 2500HD with the 8.1 big block and allison, and that truck is better in every single way. I have a soft spot for the OBS body style and the CCSB was my dream truck as a kid growing up so I have a hard time letting it go. Wish I would have bought a white one though. My dad custom ordered a 98 in that color but extended cab GMC, it was to mostly haul his race car, but he specd it out nicely and went with the big block. This build needs its own thread. Super coolProgress update….
In just over a month we fixed all the minor issues, did a full tuneup, all new GM brakes/rotors/drums diff oil change, pulled all side moldings, added a tonneau cover, went with a 5/7 Belltech drop and did it all in our driveway, added Air Lift helper bags, new fuel pump while the bed was off, have a metal roll pan ready for welding, smooth front bumper, billet grille insert, going to relocate the tailgate handle and shave it, got some fresh limo tint added, and had the exhaust redone today. So far so good!
The Budniks are in production and should be done in the next few weeks. Much to the disappointment of some, we’re going with 15” wheels for that classic 90s look. 17” tires were proving difficult to find, and we weren’t really interested in going with a larger wheel.
Once all the mods are complete then she’ll head off to paint. Anybody with a good painter recommendation? We’re not going for show quality here but something decent.

I have been talking to my 12yo about getting an old single cab OBS to fix up as his first car...prices are stupid for an old ass truck....I had a '93 extra cab, slammed, C-notched, everyone was doing the bell lowering kits back then, but I actually had mine done by a place called Chisolm Suspension in Santa Fe Springs. It originally had Boyd 15" wheels but I remember when I thru on the Boyd 17" Deuces on it was like unheard of, 17's were BIG back then...
I wish I had pics of the truck, I have like a million pics of all my more recent vehicles, but no pics of my cool cars back in the day
These are the wheels I had

Loving the updates. Keep them coming.Progress update #2
She’s pretty well all painted. Still needs a cut and buff. The Budniks should be finished up any day now. She’s coming along nicely I’d say!
Since the last update, she got a welded on roll pan and shaved tailgate handle.

Nice progress. I gotta be nosey and ask what the paint is setting you back? I have a project truck I am thinking about and it needs a little body work love. Rather just Re spray the whole thing.Progress update #2

Man, talk about a walk down memory Lane. If any of you were / are into the slammed Chevy / GMC trucks from 88-00 you have GOT to watch this show. Bad ass. Traders, sport truck mag, Boyd’s, chip foose ca speed and custom, bell tech , the drop shop, all the players from that time.
Shows about these dudes rebuilding the iconic baby blue and pink bel Tech concept Chevy 1500
Second is kinda background on all the cool trucks you’ll remember.
3rd about a bad ass seam build OBS and I’m pretty sure they left havasu to get to sema.
Cost $5 to buy on prime. 3 episodes about 15 minutes each. I’m sure some of you guys on here were involved in that scene since it all came out of so cal greater LA area.
Highly recommend.
I remember this one big time. Think it was the first crew dually I fell in love with. Drop shop done.
Wasn’t expecting that. Thought is was going to be the if you gotta ask you can’t afford and therefore…..GO BE POOR SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!Hold on to your hat.
What’dya know!!
I remember Christmas eve 97 (I think it was 97), my dad and I drove that truck to havasu to drop it off for Paul. My dad had just done the front end on it and picked it up from Whipple. I thought it was the most badass truck on the planet, that thing from a hard dig would smoke all 4 rear tires with the supercharger set up. That was actually right before Paul had it painted to match his 33 Daytona
Can’t wait to see it with the wheels. What size did you end up going with?Everything (except the wheels) is pretty much installed.
Put the hidden hitch on and flip up license plate bracket. We experimented with the clear marker lights but will be changing them out for stock ambers. Also installed a smooth, painted windshield wiper cowl for that finishing touch.
Of course the newish HVAC control module took a shit today after only being used for a few months… and it was a new old stock GM module. It may just be a transistor but I don’t want to mess with it . Guess I’ll stick with the cheap Chinese shit for the next one.
Also replaced the stock tape player head unit with a stock CD player head unit with added Bluetooth. There’s a company called 1factoryradio.com that refurbs factory units and adds Bluetooth, preamp outputs etc. It’s a nice way to get modern amenities but keeping the factory look.
Other then the minor AC setback she’s almost finished!

We’re going with the classic 90s look of 15” wheels. 15x7 on 245/60/15 in the front and 15x8 on 275/60/15 in the back. Can’t wait to see it with the wheels. What size did you end up going with?
I tried so bad to convince my wife to let me buy that truck. I have my lowered 2 dr tahoe, and my lowered caprice wagon and that would have been the perfect finishing piece to the collection.sold mine about a year ago, now I regret it big time mostly new running gear with a 502 for power, damn idiot

Nicely done!!!! I agree with removing the clear corners going back to amber. The clears date it into the 90s. If you are pulling the grill to make the change let me know if You want to know how to take your standard grill and debadge it with a heat gun and plastic welder and then paint it.Everything (except the wheels) is pretty much installed.

The front end was made from stock grill and bumpers. Sectioned the bumper moved it up to the bottom of the grill and removed the plastic between the bumper and grill. Then drenched in the license plate. Used to have a plexiglass cover the I molded to the stock bumper but got too many tickets and said F it.

IT didn’t really cost anything. I had a heat gun. I formed a buck out of sheets of MDF and glued the pieces to fit the backside of the grill. Then cut out the bow-tie leaving as much of the material as possible. Then heated up the remainder and pushed onto the wooden buck. Once I filled as much as possible with the existing grill I spliced in more material from a broken grill. Use the heat gun and welded in everything with strips cut out of broken grill. Then I just body worked the grill and painted.I love the look of the grill! Maybe on the next go around we can experiment with debadging it.
Dig the bumper. That’s superb and I’d like to do something similar.Nicely done!!!! I agree with removing the clear corners going back to amber. The clears date it into the 90s.
