David has an advantage over most in his sport and that gift comes from above...

"I can either let all this adversity destroy me, or I can let it temper me into a better version of myself. I can either whine about it, or learn from it. I strive to choose the latter".

The 27-year-old credited his faith with helping him return to the Olympic Games, particularly when he was faced with a seemingly never-ending string of personal and professional challenges. He wrote on his blog that he appreciates “the opportunity to represent my country, my hometown and MY people in the Olympics this year more than I knew I was capable of. I also know that all of this is temporary, and that is ok. Everything that I have is a gift from God, and He can take it away when He wants to.”

I gotta say that watching Him last night made me feel that way. The talent and the commitment to go for it like He did was beyond comprehension.
Just can't get over the talent in Winter Snow Sports these days. All of it. They're all Great. Men and Women.

Davids bindings broke on His 1st run. Moseley was up there wrenching on his bindings with a screw driver trying to keep Him in the Game.
Thats what blows me away the most....He did it on His last attempt.
Fearless commitment, All in.
Badazzzzz.

David is a really nice dude. I worked at Audi when we first moved to Reno/Tahoe area. When he won his first gold we gave him a car to use for the year for marketing purposes. He was super modest and down to earth every time he came in for service or just to say hi. Glad he came from way behind in the qualifier.

Right On! He comes across as a very Humble Kid.

How about that kid from New Zealand who didn't even try to improve his score on his last pass. I don't get it. His chance in the spotlight on the world stage and he mails it in. Scratching my head.........

I saw that..but had no reaction to it for some reason.
Hard to understand sometimes what goes on inside an Athletes mind. Out of the Zone...I guess.

The USA women's hockey team did a great job.

To change the subject I noticed for the first time that in the men's ski jump they come down the hill in a determined track and there is no snow on the launch ramp. To me that takes a lot of overall skill out of the event. Maybe they did it for safety.
I remember ABC wide world of sports when I was young and seeing the jumper hitting the rail and was barely injured.
I guess I'm just old. LOL

With the exception of curling, I am watching most of it, especially down hill, anything half pipe and bobsled. I find myself appreciating and actively criticing sports I never watch on a professional level just because of the sacrifice and commitment these athletes have made just to compete and represent our country. So emotional, they are a testament of what we stand for and believe in this country. Go USA!

I noticed that too. They take the guess work out of what wax to use on there skis. Back in the day they all had there own secret wax and you could tell some were faster than others. The snow would change with the weather. Kind of like NASCAR trying to make all the cars the same.

.....incidentally, that 'sore loser' grew up with nothing, about 5 miles from the farm I grew up on, and has a wonderful story.
That's irrelevant. That was a true testament to her character. The entire world knows she is a poor sport with a "me" attitude.

While I agree, it showed poor sportsmanship that she later apologized for, clearly she was crushed at the defeat. She is a defenceman. Defence in ice hockey is a player position whose primary responsibility is to prevent the opposing team from scoring.., and I'm 100 % sure she blamed herself not doing enough as such and not worthy of a medal. If you watched the game, the turning point was in the 3rd period, Canada leading 2-1 when a US forward managed to go one on one with the goalie that resulted 2-2 tie. Both teams were awesome, pretty well matched as it showed that neither team could score in the whole 20 minute overtime. Having a shootout going for gold the last minute is a crapshoot, no wonder the canadian women were crushed in the end, would have been same for US team if Canada won. It was a great game. Wished the canadian men were better against the german team, but clearly the germans were better this time and it will be interesting to see the US v German team going for gold.:)

Perhaps not winning anything but a Gold since the last silver in 98' had a bit something to do with it :( But amazing play by both teams, but naturally I was a bit biased, so proud as hell of the American gals :D
The funny thing is, I don't really care for hockey and never watch the pros. But I just happened to turn it on the other night, really liked the action and kept watching, then started following the US matches.

I really like the girls hockey more now a days, they're full of piss and vinegar, seem to have more energy and stamina than the males, sometimes. :p:D
