Who's watching and what interests them?
.
I kinda like watching the Curling, pretty damn technical. Learned the sweeping actually slows and not speeds up the Stone.
Of course watching the downhills and aerial stuff is way cool too.
.
My daughter lives is So.Korea and has tickets to 4 different events. Lucky girl.

I remember watching the Alpine Skiing events back in 1976 when Franz Klammer Won the Gold Medal. Shortly after that I put the bat and glove away and almost instantly had a new passion, Snow Skiing. I then realized there is more to life than news, weather and baseball...

Men's Downhill Feb. 10th 6:00 PM...

Have you guys tried curling before? My brother is captain of the University of Oklahoma curling team. It is insanely hard!

I like the skiing events. I was lucky in 2010 and Vancouver hosted the games. My kind of girlfriend was on the games marketing team, so I got free tickets to events wanted to see.

I read it melts the top of the ice and makes it slicker? Funny we watched it for awhile last night, never have before.

I forget her idea but the girlfriend won a new Nissan Pathfinder for her marketing of our Olympics. She was poached by the 2012 games in England and that's how she became the kind of girlfriend. We go out and still have sex. But its no longer a girlfriend deal. Olympics make me horny.............................................

The surface is more like the long shuffleboard table you've seen in bars with super fine sand. By sweeping they clean the minuscule ice granuals away and make surface stickier.....so I was told by someone who played it.
Makes sense....kinda like a boat rides faster with a little chop vs glassy water.

I grew up in Aspen, hung out with Klammer a few times on the lift as I was on the Ski Team and participated as a support team member, good times.

Glory days!

I like watching anything that is timed, speed skating, all down hill events, all boarding events, Biathlon, Hockey, pretty much everything.

I will watch figure skating...but only because the women are smoking! :p

The Olympics are about the only sporting events I watch. Watched Skating and the Moguls last night and will watch the Opening Ceremonies tonight. I'll be turning it on in the office too. U.S.A U.S.A!!

I like the GS skiing, bobsled, luge, and skeleton. Curling is interesting for the strategy but it's like watching paint dry.

It's funny...when was the last time any of you watched a non-Olympic <insert literally any Olympic sport here> competition?

But yeah, I watch, too [emoji4]

I like it all.
ABC is better at it than NBC.

Talk was NBC was going to broadcast it live in the early AM then rebroadcast in the evening.
Looks like that isn’t going to happen.

North Korea will default back to the hermit kingdom when the games end.

Ok, here's the deal.
The game of curling is played on a 'sheet' of ice. This sheet is very flat but it's NOT smooth, like a skating rink...... the surface is 'pebbled'. The icemakers start by flooding a refrigerated floor with 'layers' of water to form ice with a thickness of about 3/4" - 1". Then they paint the circles and lines on. After everything is nice and neat, they add about another 1/4" of ice depth (in layers). Lastly they add the pebbling. This is usually done using a backpack sprayer and the guy walks backwards down the length of the sheet a couple of times laying a couple of layers of water droplets on the width of the ice surface.
Sweeping melts the surface of the ice so the rocks slide a little bit easier... so if the person throwing the rock is a little bit light, the sweepers can move it down the ice a little bit further than it would have traveled by itself. Some people say good sweepers can 'pull' a rock about 20 feet.
The curling rocks are made of granite and weight between 38 and 44 lbs. Most come from Scotland. A set of rocks (8) are weighed and paired up 1-2 ,3-4, 5-6 and 7-8 with each in the pair weighing as close to the other as possibe.

Every time I turned on the opening ceremonies it was those freakin' kids walking around pointing at nothing carrying fake candles. If it was anything but awfully boring I didn't see it

The ski jumping and men’s downhill are the shit.

Way back when Bill Johnson won the downhill with his insane, ragged edge, out of control run we were all into downhill and GS.
My brother bought Atomic 225 “red sleds” and had Bill Johnson posters in his room.
Tommy Moe (future Olympic gold downhiller) was the Alyeska ski team hot shot. We were not part of the ski team, we were just hobo Air Force kids who skied every day we could.
My brother beat Tommy Moe in a downhill race one time, and always gave him a strong race.
He was fast fast. We had a lot of race training growing up and competing. I was always faster until we got about 20 years old or so and then my brother just got crazy fast. But we did not have the money or correct pedigrees to continue on that path.

Ah the old days!

I don't know which is more boring. Watching curling, or reading a paragraph on the intricacies of curling.

Women's Cross Country Skiing just finished up. Badass event to watch.

Anyone that has spent most of their life on snow ski's understands just how much physical energy, stamina, Cardio, focus
it takes to push your body that hard for 40 plus minutes.
Those Woman are hard core, in top physical and mental condition.

Crazy.

Red Gerard took the gold in one of the snowboarding events.
He’s a dead ringer for Scott Farcus in Christmas Story.

Did anyone see KJ II’s sister sitting behind Pence? She looked like she wanted to bury a knife in his back.

Slopestyle - that kid threw down big time and beat my boys McMorris and Perrot.

The next event most of those guys are in is Big Air (just like it sounds) and the only prerequsit is balls the size of grapefruits.

I enjoy the Winter Games. Love CX skiing as those are some of the most fit athletes on earth. The straight up side by side rac9ng is cool. Super G and Downhill, speed skating, free ski and any of the sledding stuff.

I have to admit I have always had a thing for the female figure skaters. I enjoy watching it. It's feminine yet it takes so much power and skill. It shows women can still be super feminine yet powerful. No #metoo or womens march bs needed. Oh and those bodies and thighs!!! haha.

I think I hit a second puberty the first time I saw Oksana Baiul grab her skate and spin. NO ONE could spin like her back then.
Here is her ‘94 gold medal performance from Lillehammer.
Took down Kerrigan.
