If you would consider staying here, I would move to Agoura, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Camarillo. Those are great places to live. Expensive but really nice to be honest and very family oriented. They all have great schools as well.

I get it though, it's expensive and getting worse all the time here. I wish you the best of luck and I hope you and your family find your happy place.

What's weird is that they have actually been cleaning up the Valley a lot this past year or two. All the homeless encampments in the Valley are getting cleaned up as soon as they set up.
Cant afford the Valley sir! Wish we could.

To be fair there’s a lot of CA that does not include the negativity everyone posts about.

@shintoooo posted our areas. @4Waters can show great parts in Simi and Moorpark.

@Tank can cover Camarillo, Ventura, Oxnard, Ojai etc.

Down towards San Diego I’d say Vista/Fallbrook/Temecula are red blooded areas.

Now if you’re just done with CA politics, gun laws and overall policies I totally get it. You’re never going to change that and the cost of living in this state.

I completely agree but the politics are everything at this point. The state has shown, and consistently voted, in a manner that says otherwise.

I guess what I’m getting at is that these areas will inevitably be infiltrated as citizens from LA move closer towards these areas as well.

Look what’s happened in Phoenix.

It’s the Great Reset the state has been legislating towards for a couple decades. Most don’t see it because it’s the frog in the boiling water concept and the water has been slowly being turned up for more than a decade.

Look, I love this state. I still live here and raise my children here. My city is one of the few conservative holdouts remaining but even I’m not so blind to see that the water temp is getting warmer in this pot of frogs.

Preparation makes up for a lack of talent; I’m choosing to be prepared.

Ventura county is definitely a pocket of California that doesn’t feel very komiforniaish most the times. There’s vagrants and crime like anywhere. But it’s not crazy like deep
So cal or San Francisco. Still fairly conservative. Most democrats around these parts are old school dems. Not woke socialists. Most cities in Ventura county are pro LE and pro law. But, it’s still ca. I would suppose if someone is looking to get out of ca to get away from taxes and state politics, moving to a different county ain’t gonna resolve that.

Funny someone mentioned the ca stigma in other parts of the country. I was on the phone with two different people today in LOTO paying for some things and didn’t want to say the CC came back to ca. just gave them the zip. 😂😂😂

When we sold our first house in Burbank o was solid on moving to Agoura,Newberry Park,T.O and we looked at almost a 100 homes. I wanted a least a acre so that really cuts the list down fast, which mostly was in T.O and most of those homes were in the equestrian area and for whatever reason at the time the school rankings were low and the wife again that down…not to mention the 101 freeway is a parking lot. Ultimately we landed in Agua Dulce on 3 acres and have been happy. It’s mostly conservative like minded working class people that look out for each other(small town vibe). I remember one night doing a run with our daughter and she said “ it feels like we are moving to another state “ which it really does. But I drive 20-25 mins and hit the SFV and you are reminded. It’s only until we pull the trigger and get out of Cali..

Look my jacuzzi is just fucking fine! Sure there’s this weird dude who keeps turning up the flame. But he does it with a smile. So how bad could it be?

I finance housing developments in Arizona, California, Texas and Nevada.

To get one approved today sucks pretty much equally in all four of those states. They have different challenges but the time and expense to deal with those challenges are about equal.

It all boils down to once someone gets theirs, they don’t want others coming in. The pot is getting warmer in every state for all us frogs and we are doing it to ourselves.

All due respect. If my kids / grandkids weren’t still in the general area. SCV. I would be out of here. The minor improvements. If you want to call them that as opposed to what’s really happening. Time to be gone.
I just do t see a lot of hope for LA areas or Cali in general.

Unfortunately SW Colorado got Califonicated about 20 years ago. There are pockets of the old Colorado left though if you look.
Not many.

Eastern CO is the place to look. Its flat as hell and nothing there.

I hear ya. I won’t move unless we all move as well.

I guess I’m lucky. I like where I live and I don’t really run into any issues with homeless or crazy people and there is no better place to make money than here in California.

I’ve been to a lot other states and I just can’t see myself moving at this time. Might change later as I get older and grumpier. 😆

My wife and I are im Saugus, and I would really like to go to Agua Dulce or Acton. She is on board, but she is just a little spoiled with how close we are to all the amenities of SCV and for that reason holds her back. Along with our family is no more than a 10 minute drive away, but she's worried about being out there for days at a time and me gone at work. Slowly moving towards getting out there. She's also in the movie industry so it will increase her drive a bit

Try not to tell anyone you’re from California.
Better yet, move twice.
For example spend a year in Texas then move to Idaho, and tell everyone you’re from Texas.
That's what we did. Not by design, but it worked out that way. We lived in Reno for 8 years. Now we get to tell everyone in our new home state that we moved there from Reno. :) SoCal may or may not get brought up in the conversation. If it does, I'm sure to tell people that we had a horse ranch in SoCal and they built tract homes all around us.

Wait...so you guys live in a high rise near the shore in Long Beach and.... "it's gotten so bad"?

Not sure where you're headed...but if it was "so bad" in your ocean view condo.....I'm not sure she'll really be happy in whatever new location you land.

Pretty much agree with most of what you said. I don’t have a big issue.
I cant make ( if working) in many other states what I make here That said. I can take my retirement. Wait a year or two and get my SS. And call it good.
I’m just fed up with Cali. No matter how great the weather is. 😜🤷

Once again...come visit Pacoima. I can throw a ball in any direction from my shop and hit a homeless encampment

You live 5 minutes from the boat launch at a nice lake...right? I understand how hard that must be
True that. I like our lake. And our area. But it is changing fast like every where else. Just sayin.

Long Beach

Good luck!
We're in Long Beach too and probably aren't going anywhere. I'm 9th generation Southern Californian and our grandkids are 11th. Not that means a fucking thing but 2 of our 3 kids are here as are the grandkids who were lucky to be very close with. Can't imagine not seeing them all the time. But who knows, not happy with a lot going on and not happy with the political bullshit but I still enjoy going to Joe's. I just make sure I'm outta there before the sun goes down.

At the end of the day, you have to do what’s best for you and your family. Don’t listen to anyone here. Everyone has a different opinion and experiences based on their situation, personality, and lifestyle. Don’t let anyone sway you one way or another. You do you.

If you really live with that sort of fear in downtown longbeach....you and your wife need a therapist and a reality check
It’s not just Long Beach. It’s many so called nice places to go visit or have a night out. . And yes I get shit can happen anywhere at anytime.

In Idaho, Idahonian’s hate Californians! When I explain that my Grandparents lived here, my dad was born here, my mom lived in Sandpoint and I lived here once before they relax a bit. In Tennessee they seem to welcome Californian’s but always state, “As long as you checked your California Politics in at the Border!”. Funny thing is that 90% of the people in each place seemed to at one time lived in California!

Lots of good and bad to consider. Especially if you are retired like us. Health care, internet availability, weather, state taxes, vehicle registration costs, utility costs, proximity to relatives, airports and of course property costs. We are Blessed to be able to split our time between Tennessee and Idaho. Love both places for diferent reasons.
