I'm realizing that these things are worth their weight in gold this time of year. Parking lots that I used to dread, now I'm like hello to the front row.🤣🤣 👍 I've even had offers from people to take me shopping.🤣

I had one for a month or so while I wore an ankle to thigh brace. I honestly only used it a couple times cuz I felt guilty & didn't want to use a spot that someone might actually really need.

I would prefer to park far away no door dings that way.
That's an added bonus of the handicap spots, nobody can park close enough to door ding.

Too picky about parking, even with the oversized stalls to park up front.
Gold for me is when the lot striping crew screws up and I find an oversized end stall cause their math was off.

When I drive my Dad around we use his Placard quite a bit. It makes things much easier for him for with his mobility issues.

But there's a guy i work with that has one and he's in really good health, even walks miles at lunch and brags about it. He has a handicapped placard from a knee operation years ago and totally takes advantage of it. My buddy and I constantly give him a hard time about it. The guy is such a weasel..

I dont.
But I hate people, also without one, that park in designated spaces.
I like to take pictures of their car/truck and when they ask me what Im doing--I explain that I run a website that publicly shames people who park in the handicap spots.
I dont have a website--haha,

I felt that way when I first got mine but now I realize I'm that guy who really needs it. 🤦‍♂️ It's not as much the walking distance as it is more so being able to open the door wide open so I can swing in and out.

Normally, in the HC spot is a new F350, Ram 3500 or Denali 3500 dulllay.

Long bed with a 5th wheel hitch in the bed. Parked at an angle.

Yea. . . . .

I shouldn't judge. . . . . . 😒

My wife has one and I don’t usually say anything about her health at all, but it came by the way of being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in early 2020 at 60 years old. She doing pretty good all things considering. I don’t want to bring anyone down but I don’t joke about how we have to park either.

I would rather not need one than have good parking. We have one on our cars and I only use it when my wife is with me. It sucks when all the handicapped spots are full with lifted trucks and shit.
See above post. Whats wrong with parking a full size truck in a handicap stall? Should they not be allowed too? Should handicap people be not allowed to CCW because it doesn't seem to fit their condition?

I still have mine in my tool box somewhere. Same thing, a temp, from when I had my wreck.

It's a reminder, a way to center myself. I was 28, and had to have Pops drive me to Dr appointments, and he'd have to help me stand with a walker, or give me a hand to steady me with a cane. A solid reminder that others have struggles worse than I do or did.

This is what I have an issue with I see lifted trucks etc with the damn placard your not handicap if you can get in and out of that damn truck.

Girlfriend broke her ankle and required being driven around for almost 8 months. She got the card. We certainly used it but I can imagine that me hopping out of the drivers seat probably caused some similar reactions untill I pulled the wheelchair out for the passenger.

I tried to otherwise park close without using the handicap space but what I learned quick was the wheelchair clearance didn't work well in normal spots. Needed the handicap space to get the wheelchair close to the door.

Sometimes id park there, get her out and then move the car. I'd get an earful but I felt someone else might need it worse.

Then I saw people who were just fat with the card and parking in handicap and that sympathy dried up. There should be a special parking zone for obese people and its at the far end of the parking lot. Walking helps with weight loss!

I have one also had it for five years. Don’t use it all the time because I like to walk but there are times you just need it

People that can walk, braging about taking spots from people that can't🤔🤦‍♂️

If you didn't notice the sign says it all, with a person in a wheelchair.

Back in the day, I parked in a handicapped spot once without a placard. It was a Saturday, in front off my own building, we were closed, we were wholesale and not open to the public anyway, and mine was the only car in the parking lot. A cop drove up, saw me through my office window, called me out with his loudspeaker, and told me if I didn’t move my car, he was going to write me a ticket. I pointed out the pertinent facts, but of course that just made him angry.

I have no idea who pissed in his Wheaties that morning, but he took that handicapped parking rule pretty seriously.

The following thoughts may just be totally wrong here but being a private parking lot, there might just be a slight gray area of sorts in some situations as described above.
Had it gone bad for you that day, the cost of it might have been worth the try to challenge it should the owner of the private property not had given pervious permission to LE... < Bad deal all the way around though.

Did I say anything about parking a full size truck in a handicap stall? I'm talking about people who can get by without a handicap placard but choose to use the handicap stalls for convenience. I have a full size truck. You know what I don't drive when I need to utilize the HC stalls? My full size truck.

And what the fuck does CCW have anything to do with this?

.., Went with @NEIGHBOR GIRL …to get the last of the stuff for Thanksgiving dinner… Figured if we went right around noon, it wouldn’t be crowded… Like it would be shortly around dusk…Wrong… The parking lot was a zoo… People were circling looking for parking spots… I have had a placard for years… Did I go looking for people that didn’t look like they were handicapped in the blue spots… No…just finally got a regular spot …it wasn’t all that far to hobble up with my cane… Never even thought about going off on somebody that might not be handicapped and be in a handicap spot… But I did think man this is way better than last year when I probably couldn’t have even gone in a market in a wheelchair🤷🏽‍♀️… After reading this thread, I may start looking for the bad guys and smack em with my walking stick👍🔍

I have a temporary one that is still good through January as a result of my leg break and subsequent surgery earlier this year. I learned what it is to truly be immobile and what it means to have access to one of these spaces when you really need one.

I also learned what it's like when all of the spaces are taken, likely by some people who don't really need them. More often than not, all spaces were taken wherever we were headed. My wife had to push me much further in the wheelchair than she should have and also had to deal with getting the wheelchair in and out of the car in a much smaller space than she should have.

If any of you are taking these spaces and don't really need them, go get your head checked. Maybe someday you'll experience a condition where you actually need one and then you'll learn.

I'm better now and even though my pass is still valid, I don't use it. Integrity check.

You know why parking a car is like dating? All the good ones are taken, so you just stick it in the handicapped one and hope nobody notices.

I had one when I shattered my leg 21 years ago (broke in 12 places, almost lost it). On the six month anniversary of the injury I took the boat out to Folsom Lake and got up first try on a single ski. I had parked in a handicapped boat trailer spot. On the way out that day I dropped it in the garbage can and never used one again.
