Bahamas or BVI, please! 🏝
That's what I would do if I could.
My wife is convinced sharks like Chinese food.
Ciao Ragazzi, grazie per pensare di mio!
Yes, I would absolutely suggest the region of Molise or Abruzzo! (My place is in Molise) If you have ANY questions, please feel free to message me here or my FB is https://www.facebook.com/ridesurf
As always, take a look at the website I put together for our village. https://www.castelbottaccio.com/
Our house in the 946 year old village was $27k out the door. Wine is $9 for 5 liters, your neighbors will bring you olive oil from their harvest, food is grown within 20 miles and you can get 3 bags of veg for like $10, pesticides are mostly banned in the country, water is not treated with chemicals, Amalfi Coast is 2 hrs, Rome is 3hr, (from my village) Beach is 45mins and a train will take you anywhere you want to go. Oh yeah, flights to other countries are like $20. We're trying to figure out residency before retirement because we've had just about enough of this shit show. Currently we're there part time. You will be treated like family. These are the nicest people I've ever met in my life. Simple, beautiful souls.
Since I last posted about the house, I went back and did some works on the kitchen by removing the plaster and exposing the stone.

They speak pretty good English. Especially the Greek.I’ve heard Greece/Turkey are nice. Retirement dollars go a long way, but you need a second language to make it work.
Portugal is very tax efficient if you are a retired European.I hear Portugal is the Idaho, Texas, Tennessee, Florida of Europe. Tons of people are moving there.
My grandparents, and my uncles lived in Saudi, and Kuwait before the shit hit the fan over there working on pipelines. A couple of my cousins were born in the Kingdom. They had positives and negatives of the experience but that's over 50 years ago at this point. Back then, maybe....now not a chance I would do it.I have some family in Dubai. The lifestyle they have seems to be extremely nice. They said it’s super clean, and the crime rate is low.
But.. they also are rich so I’m not sure how the middle class lives. But, I am terrified of living in the Middle East despite my family saying “it’s safe.” We seem to have different meanings on what is safe.
Looks like a beautiful place. Your house looks great. What are the going prices for homes there today?Ciao Ragazzi, grazie per pensare di mio!

Not offended in the least... we good.Just quoting my buddy....who is Mexican
That appears to be the latest hustle from what I see just 30 miles south of border.Mexico.
You can live on the cheap while collecting US benefits. If you live close enough to the border you can access US healthcare.
Athens was such a let down. The islands were rad. Spent a week on Naxos, and it was the most stress free week of my life! Don't think I could live there though....Santorini would be fun for a short period of time but way too touristy to live there IMO.You couldn't pay me to live in Athens though.
Tell me more about Athens. We’ll be there on a cruise this summer (one day). Any tips? Don’t do, must do.Athens was such a let down.
It was just so dirty and had a weird vibe to it. Maybe I was unfairly comparing it to Rome, which we had just spent a few days in, but other than a nice dinner in a little alley with an old man serenading the street from behind a piano, we didn't really enjoy Athens. The Acropolis and the Parthenon were neat, but the city just didn't feel right? Thats what I recall.Tell me more about Athens. We’ll be there on a cruise this summer (one day). Any tips? That’s really all I wanted to do there anyway. Cruise deal is typically limited to 8 hours. Thanks!!The Acropolis and the Parthenon were neat, but the city just didn't feel right? Thats what I recall.
That island has slight peyrones disease! The people that live there are prolly a bunch of crooked dicksView attachment 1321736
Not in the Caribbean, but I finally found the perfect island to retire to Looks like a lot of fun!
Calamari in Greece. Eat some Calamari in Greece. That’s really all I wanted to do there anyway. Cruise deal is typically limited to 8 hours. Thanks!!
Just went to Portugal in December for a week. My wife's former co-worker retired there with his husband and rent a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath apartment in central Lisbon for about $2k a month. My wife has been back three times in the last year for about 5 weeks total. Super safe country. Roads are basically new because there are a lot of toll roads. Wine is dirt cheap. Food is great. Weather and beaches are very nice. Free healthcare for everyone but our friends also have Private Insurance. They still say the free healthcare is better than the private. No homeless or none that I saw. Parks are clean and safe to walk at midnight. Subway and train system is clean and outstanding. You can fly almost anywhere in Europe or Northern Africa from $100 or $200 and only an hour or two flight. Spain is super close to drive to. Definitely are a lot of ex-pats moving there. My brother and his wife have been going around Europe searching for retirement as well. He's a doctor and she's a nurse so they do well. They went to northern Italy last year and they're going to southern Italy this year to check it out for possible retirement living. They are also going to Portugal where I hear it's really nice and much cheaper as well.
Dis be what I'm talking about! I look forward to simplified elder years which hopefully results in a lower cost of living. I'm thinking George Clooney, a la, The Assassin.Ciao Ragazzi, grazie per pensare di mio!

First sentence has my dad written all over it. Never bought anything including our home on credit. It is all the money they save by not buying pickup trucks and by not buying everything on credit and paying interest on the debt.

In addition, a partner in a law firm in Lisbon makes about as much money as a UPS driver in LHC.
