Like I told Jerry...it’s hard to throw the keys to your baby to someone you know is going to flog it.

I've let Billy, Steve Sequeira and Wayne drive my boat. I know the feeling.

Great read and images the last couple of days. Anyone going out tomorrow morning? Looks like I am finally going to be heading down there from Havasu.

There may be some ski-races going on either in Havasu Springs or Blue Water this weekend. Enjoy![emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303]

Thanks for the heads up on blue water. Will be meeting up with friends in the Keys mid morning. Thinking that I am going show up early and pull up a chair on the river’s edge and enjoy the moment for a few hours.

Had the boat in the water last weekend and ran good till the fkn water pump impeller exploded, smh , had to pull most of the water lines and clean them out . Next day I met Steve and his flattie . Will be heading back up next Friday to run her again .

Damn! That's the worst I've ever seen!
Yeh , normal they crack or loose a fin , lucky I just launched and was watching the gauges and the water temp shot up and I shut her down and floated down till I got near the launch ramp and fired her back up and got her back on the trailer. Then we put my buddy’s Hallett in for a spin and the fkn thrust bearing started to howl . That’s the 4th bearing to go on the jet . So I towed her home to take it to Tim place at place Diverter and found the shaft was toast on the end where the bushings sit on . What a great start to the season lol . BOAT $$$ lol

Impellers ears getting stuck at the head gasket is no bueno. They don't come apart like that unless they've become brittle from age or excessive heat. I like to prime the impeller with a garden hose if the boats been sitting more than a week. Only takes a second.

I did prime it before I ran it , always do . That was a brand new impeller lol , now have 2 spares sitting , and will carry them in the boat . This is the first time running the new motor so I’m sure there will be bugs to work out

Ive never had an issue turning the keys over to someone, who could afford to fix it, had as nice of stuff, or nicer, as I did, or could drive waaaaay over my head. ;)

I'm still somewhat fighting my Canyon and at this point i'm thinking I am more the problem than the boat.
May have a chance to put a very talented flat driver in it soon to evaluate my set up.
My biggest fear is did I miss anything?.....I could never live with myself if someone got hurt in my boat.

Not that I’d ASK them flog it?.... but at the same time I would have to concede to it somewhat if that makes any sense.
I know that if I were to drive something to it’s ability that I did not own, I’d want to go over it with the owner on the ramp for a while before hopping into it. Where are the plates set, what prop, what gear, testing steering cables. Kinda like a tech inspection I guess... but then how hard does one need to drive it to get a feel for its capabilities?...

like I said...I’m a noob and jumped in with both feet. [emoji16][emoji1303]

Honestly thought when I saw the finished product I figured it would be a trailer queen, homage type deal.
So kick ass seeing you out there getting after it.

Longest running V-Drive thread in awhile.
To keep it going...

How much play should there be on the drive pully on an 871?:D

[emoji1303][emoji1303] I googled that same question it it came up with an answer via BDS or The Blower Shop website. If I remember correctly, it’s 1.5-2” deflection.

That's in the belt, with the belt off what's the lash on the drive pully supposed to be?
Why are you having to tighten your steering cable so often? Mines good for five years or so before having to snug it up.

Did you look for another reason for your impeller to grenade like that? Unless it was in there for five years and run dry.:D

Two boats in question here...
The Schiada waterpump impeller took a shit.
The Hallet “jetboat” pump bearing took a shit.

Same weekend. Then there was a small fire...just sayin. [emoji16]

Ha Ha Haaa Steve , the white turd is on a shake down lol as for the Hallett , we have replaced the bearing 3 times before .... and no I didn’t do them lol , have been spending most of my spare time at place Diverter and learns a lot of stuff about jet pumps and it was time to blow it apart and see wtf . And we found out why , now it should be good for many more fun times on the strip . At least I’m not a duck killer lol
