Had a good friend towing from South Dakota to Burley ID with a Barron Sprint. Blown injected deal..Deer jumped over the boat and the hat caught the brunt of the impact and it did a ton of damage. Bones and guts everywhere plus bent linkage and the butterflies...not good.

Driving to my uncles place in the hill country of Texas back in the late 70s in a 3/4 ton Ford 150 and I remember him telling me to watch for all the deer crossing the roads. Said if you're going to hit one what ever you do don't hit the brakes, hit the gas. You don't want the front end to tuck down and have the deer come over the hood and through the windshield. There were quite a few dead deer in the median so I kept my foot buried in the gas until I got to Marble Falls just in case.

You're a menace, no one wants to play with you.

Blown flatbottom with dry headers. Something I’ve always tried to keep in mind whenever I do an “early” start-up[emoji51]. It never seems to be before 7:30ish but that might change.

Interested in some feedback especially from riverfront property owners.
Cheers!

Sun up. I remember many mornings on the Parker strip and the flattie owners out early enjoying calm water.

With the other things we had to do “working vacation” I haven’t had a chance to really look at it. Hopefully today I can check it out.

What I miss most about the old days is going out around sunset looking for races. Good times in the Stoker.

Even down at Lost Lakes, people would race right in front of the campground. Everyone would line the shore to watch.

Guess toons and roll bar boats really aren't meant to race...

:rolleyes::p

Next time save the snake for @rivergames . Hes looking to cook one up fir dinner.o_O
Do you remember when Jeannie Branson use to make jewlery out of rattle snake spinal bones? She use to be friends with my mom and some of her friends back in the day and she bring ear rings and necklaces down to our place in marina view. Bought some ear rings for an old girlfriend...she never wore them.

Coolest question ever! Just thinking about it puts a smile on m face. Back in the day ... we couldn’t wait to hear the first boat fire up ... it just meant it’s gonna be a great day at the river and the earlier the better although old camp dudes bitched about it.

On the front porch - right next to the slider that was open.

CA side, just below River Reflections.

Looks like it was at least 4 feet long!

We were riding our dirt bikes from Bullhead to Oatman, this was in the late 60s, and a rattler about that big came out on the dirt road right in front of my dad. He hit the brakes and somehow that snake got caught up in the rear wheel and swing arm and it pulled all its skin off. It was the whitest meat you could imagine. Dad cut the rattle and put it in a little jar that already had a few rattles in it that he kept in our place back then. I haven’t thought about that in years.

Well, since the closest riverfront neighbor slept through your monday morning run I would say that you're golden. Then again, a friend said your boat is loud as fuck! and he lives next to Miraleste shores! :D

Was that Jim riding shotgun?

I'll post pix when the internet comes back on. This phone shit sux! and the pix are on my camera.

Ya that was Pops that went for a ride! It’s been about 35 years since he’s been in the boat. Pretty epic day for me. Had a great day today. [emoji1303][emoji1303]
My GoPro mount broke before I could mount it today so i was hoping you’d be out there to take some pictures!

Be careful, I'm still suufering from my last snake bite.

So is the boat working well? Can you hammer it at 80 and get all the way off the down pedal? I'm trying to remember, but didn't you step up the gear quite a bit?

Not that long ago RD would have ageed with you on this,.today, not so much. I wonder where he went wrong. Do you think he sold us out? Is it the new friends he keeps? Or has he moved above and beyond the small boat boater?

I now know what it must feel like to be a jet boat owner. :(

@rivermobster knows what im talkin bout. :D

Did you think 18 ft boats were small back in the 60's-70's? I bet you didn't? It's not that they're small, it's that everything is huge now. People are soft these days and put comfort over excitement. :)

14-16' outboard runabouts and 18 foot flatties were the norm and accepted mode of travel on "The Strip". Good old RD sold out and became a corporate whore. :D

@MOUZER knows whats up with this shit;)

Well , there is a thread that just got shut down and it was about boats ...hmmmm
And RD said it was the lamest thread on rdp , big statement. RD has always stated about our freedom in this country and the freedom on rdp to have different opinions .
Nobody was threatening or cussing, just different of opinions ...

My statement as always. This is what rdp has become. Only old school will understand my point ....

Sometimes people in life forget where they come from and what has got them there ...

Hence why I went back to a 21 foot hot rod .. I have more fun in that boat than I did my 25 deep V....

Keep a great thread going wheeler and everyone else ...see ya at the river

I realize there's a world of difference between my old flattie and that bad ass blown hemi powered wood deck beauty, but I wish I could have hung on to my 428 FE powered Howard. This was in '02, my youngest who's in between my wife and I is 23 now, and our son has 2 kids of his own.

Only thing I didn't like about the Howard was the white gauges, they ruined the vintage look of the boat but, I never broke into my stash of NOS SW gauges to change them.
