My wife ( of 32 years ) and I own a custom picture & object framing gallery in Hemet CA. Same location for 25 years. She handles the framing end, while I do the photo restoration & outside commercial sales. Most weeks we are open, Tuesday thru Friday, 10 to 5...........unless we're at the river house ( Parker ) , or out in the dunes, or out on the horses, or in Idaho ( Lake Coeur d' Alene ) or just hangin out here at the ranch. Thirty two miles to & from the shop roundtrip, seven stoplights & 4 stop signs.

Speaking of which, I'll get that picture you needed next weekend. Forgot the camera this weekend. Have you started putting together a crew yet? The house is almost done. :)

Last thing I do is ask someone what they do for a living.....

If we are friends and so forth in the course of conversation it comes out but I never ask.

I manage nerds for a private university, manage commercial real estate for a private company and study mathematics at a public university.

I've also been serving up the man meat at the Bri Tip BBQ since 1978. :D

I sell rapid prototyping (stereolithography, Selective Laser Sintering, 5th Axis CNC machining, RTV Molding, etc.. etc.. ) as my day job, and I do shop maintenance and Manual machining as a side job.

I'm kinda the same way. I will rarely ask someone I don't know that well what they do. To me its like asking someone how much money they make a year. But thats just me. :D

I guess it depends on what you do. As a sales person and seeing anybody can be a client, I love it when people ask what I do. I've done business with numerous people from the boards because it's known.

True. In fact sometimes when strangers ask me what I do I lie to them. Some people do not like people in my profession. LOL!!!! Profession, thats funny. :lmao

Agreed....I was kind of thinking of this bonehead this weekend that kept trying to find out how much I paid for Game Times' bike. After the 3rd time with no answer I was like WTF!

I have always hated the people that come up to your shit and say "Nice boat (bike, rhino, truck or whatever)"

Thanks.

"How much did you pay for it?"

You got to be kidding me......

I understand the sales thing but I don't do business with people on boating forums....lol

Asking what someone does to me is not nearly as bad as what someone makes per year or worse yet what something cost them, especially on big ticket items. How much I paid, or am paying, for my house and my car and the boat is my business not theirs...

If you can't figure out what I do, maybe you should just turn off the computer and go climb in that hole with the donkey.

Sent some parasolids out today for stereolith.

Not sure which company will do the work.

I build data centers, broadcast facilities, stuff like that.

Has anyone noticed that sometimes owning your own business is about as much fun as pounding your dick flat with a mallet? :swear:fsakes

Been in the radio business for over 10 years doing sales.

Recently I opened a company with my cousin. I thought radio would be a life long career but now it looks like the printing and packaging industry will.

We make packaging for retail products and more. Here are a couple of examples.

PM me if you need a quote. :)
