Even better is to snap a picture with your phone and zoom in! Works great!
I do this at the store. Snap a pic of the price tag that’s affixed to the shelf. It prevents having to get on your knees with your face up against the shelf.

Whats that sayin "The Golden Years" yeah thats it, and its bull shit, the Golden Years suck!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always been a healthy type guy up until we retired in 2002 (at age 62) and moved to Havasu, had a few pretty good years until 2011 and then the barn door opened, had something like 8 surgeries in the next few years and still going thru some other stuff, like Carotid artery suff right now, hopefully I make it out of it 🙏🙏🙏
BUT IT BEATS THE ALTERNATIVE LOL :)
It's not the golden years it's the RUSTY years. And yes it's not for pussies.

At this point nobody has mentioned the man bean? Prostrate health is rarely discussed but ever so important in our, a-hem, aging bodies.… how many can make it thru the night without 1, 2, or even 3 trips to the pisser? Those are hints fellas.

Stay healthy. Lots of good insight here.

Readers are a great stop gap.
But I highly recommend having a vision check up if one hasn’t done that yet.
I used them for years, until about 4-5 years ago when I could not pass my DOT annual physical vision test. Left eye would not focus.
I begged a re-test and passed by memorizing one line real quick. 😎
But she said it was the last time.
So finally I went in a couple years ago and had them checked.
A pterygium surgery and a cataract surgery, and a set of bifocals later and all is well!
I went from 1.5’s to 3.5’s in maybe 8-10 years?
Had readers scattered everywhere, and all my coworkers did as well. Home, work, everywhere you turned there was readers…lol.
Now we all have real glasses.

I have an expensive pair I keep at home, and a couple pairs of cheaper Walmart ones that I use at work and for everyday.

This.
And to add two simple ones to make a very simple trifecta that i think everyone entering their 60's needs to be aware of;
- BP
- HbA1C
If you're following up on these - you'll not only live longer, your final decline may be way way more comfortable.

Certain foods set up inflammation that in turn suppresses your immune system that in turn invites cancer.

Square block of 5 story research buildings at USC and similar campuses around the USA with the same findings.

Great posts in this thread. LOL Reminds me that I gotta get out of the funk I am in these days. 👍

Hi, I’m Tom
I laugh and cry at that movie every time that I see it.. I keep it on the recorded list to watch it every few months when I need a laugh. Funny as hell when it came out. Now it can be a bit close to home for me and the wife. I use it as a reminder that things could be worse but also where things might be going. Enjoy the ride as long as you are able…….🥳

Did this recently and whoever was with me said….”Oh that is a great idea”. Been doing that for a couple of years now. Sadly, I guess I have been older than they have.🤪

Joke-
"The only time i don't think about peeing is when I'm peeing"
...........................................

The doctor says, “Larry, everything looks great. How are you doing mentally and emotionally? Are you at peace with God?”

Larry replies, “God and I are tight. He knows I have poor eyesight, so He’s fixed it so when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, poof! The light goes on. When I’m done, poof! The light goes off.”

“Wow, that’s incredible,” the doctor says.

A little later in the day, the doctor calls Larry’s wife.

“Bonnie,” he says, “Larry is doing fine! But I had to call you because I’m in awe of his relationship with God. Is it true that he gets up during the night, and poof, the light goes on in the bathroom, and when he’s done, poof, the light goes off?”

“Oh sweet Jesus”, exclaims Bonnie. “He’s peeing in the refrigerator again!”

Just turned 64 last week. Have/Had a very active life. But 3 knee replacements in 4 years has slowed me down.
Yes, after the first full knee replacement I returned to my active life, and broke it, had to replace the replacement.

I have to keep moving. Can;t sit still. If I have a couple days of relaxing it's hard to get going again.

Pain? It's just weakness leaving our body. remember that from my high school coach.
Well, I must have been saving it up all these years because it's there everyday now.
Just get used to it.

I’d brag about going to the gym and riding my bike and all the other stuff I’m still doing at 71, and how great I feel, but I jacked up my back lifting dog food a couple of days ago. Sitting here with a heating pad, and taking muscle relaxers, as I type this. 😂

In my defense, it was actually a 45 lb. bag and 24 cans, in a large box. I never claimed to have become wise with the years…..shoulda opened the damn box. 😉

Lose the heating pad and switch to a ice pack.

I lifted a generator and it moved a bone in my back and have been in misery since.

I need a hip replacement.
I hear it’s an easy job.
Just getting started getting it dialed in.

At one time it was “nylon or titanium or stainless or aluminum choices”
Has carbon fiber made it to the surgery menu?
What’s “da kine” hip?
Had my right hip done last August - Kaiser - Dr. Lee
Recovery has been fairly easy and getting better all the time I would do it again and I will as my left one needs to be done. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Lee highly recommend.

Just keep improving. read and research what you like and what you find interesting.

I keep a running log of the big and little improvements I make to my home, cars, and my friends homes and cars. It is my entertainment.

GOES WITHOUT SAYING BUT DO NOT WATCH THE F-ING TUBE FOR HOURS ON END

If necessary, express your own stupid opinion at P&G.

As far as readers go, Home Depot has really good ones to choose from. I'll buy a pack of them and spread them around my house and cars.
My hearing has suffered over the years from playing music. Not sure if I'm ready to go full-on hearing aids so bought a pair of Apple's AirPods Pro 2's with hearing health built in. They have a feature that acts as hearing aids. I'll put them in whenever I'm at work when I really need to listen to direction in meetings. They work very well, no one ever asks me why I'm wearing them because they are so common, I also have them setup so they read texts to me. Pretty slick..

I've mentioned this before about Siri or Google Assistant. For us older guys it can be an important tool to help us through the day, especially while driving, sending texts with Siri is a game changer. I try to use this Siri as much as possible. I try to get my Dad to use it more.

The morning walk from the bed to the bathroom can be pretty painful. I often ask myself "Man, what did I do yesterday to make me this sore?" lol

Mornings are no doubt the toughest time of day for me.

I never used to lay in bed when awakening.
Now at least 5 minutes to gain oil pressure.

An unwillingness to try new restaurants. Stick with past ya know you'll like.

Solid choices are Lawry's Prime rib, the Smokehouse Burbank, Tam O' Shanter, Brophy Bros, and a few others.

Get up and get moving...

I do my stretchs, hit the weights, I'm up to 40 pushups now, and then a three to four mile walk.

If I DON'T do these things, my legs and back will ache like a bitch from a lifetime of working on cars.

Push it. Push it Real good. It keeps all the pain away. 👍🏼
Yeah I've been doing the walking for years but just recently added the stretching routine from 40 years of skiing and dirt biking and 20 years of baseball. Now I know why my Old Man use to always say: If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself, lmao. 🤣🤣🤣

Geez you bunch of old fukstiks……..

Well, ummmmmm actually this thread delivers. 53 this year, bought my first readers about 8 months ago. My welding improved exponentially.

No joint pain, no medical issues yet. Eat well, carnivore mostly, little processed and nearly no regularly consumed sugars or artificial ingredients.
No fast food ever. No alcohol, no medications if I can change diet to avoid.

Wife and I are making our 5, 10, 15, 20 year plans. I regularly work 12-14 hour days. Our plan is to start taking one month off a year for a few years and then switch up to two months in ten years. I have no plan to retire but rather slow down gradually.

I do not fear death but I want to enjoy life as much as I can especially in these years where I can afford to do most anything I want. My wants and my resources have finally swapped places. I am enjoying being the patriarch of a growing family.

Dad died at 47, his das at 59. Grandfather on mothers side lived to 93 and was still climbing trees at 89.

Carpe Diem.

I rolled over to 68 last week, and it seems like doing formerly normal things is becoming impossible.
Happy belated birthday Mr. rrrr
Having RA/PA I feel your pains. I've found vitamin D3/K2 to be very helpful along with magnesium. Now if I could just straighten my spine out I might feel normal again.

… Went to Home Depot today and to get my new front door knob assembly re-keyed… tried to pretend healthwise and age wise I was normal and young… I got the job done …but I probably moved twice as slow as anybody in Home Depot… saw an old guy at the locksmith that was in line ahead of me… I was looking at him and kind of feeling bad for him…This guy is really old… It suddenly dawned on me that he could’ve been 10 years younger than me😳

Dang TPC not a good way to start the day. I hope they get you sorted out very soon.
Ask the hot nurse to give your 3rd member a tug just to be sure everything works as it used to.....
Get well soon.

I call it "living life" in contrast to not enjoying myself because I might get hurt. We're all gonna die somehow, I'd rather die doing something I love. You probably don't want to see the titanium in my wrist also. (Snowboarding). 😂
