Heard the "replacement" for that role is the cropduster. More than ugly, but belt feds in the wings, like a WWII fighter. Same concept, slow moving ground support, but more agile and guns with less maintenance.and to think some parts of the government want to get rid of them. If they do does that mean they will sell them off.
Fourteen posts to say it.The HOG is/was so far ahead of its time. Unbelievable capabilities and love hearing that sound. If you’re on the wrong end of the sound it it’s already to late to hear it, you’re done.

Can't argue with that sounds like the best fighter plane to meMy son was on a carrier while in the Navy. I was fortunate to spend 10 days with him on their "Tiger Cruise" from Hawaii to San Diego. We were arguing one day about the A-10 Warthog, the F-14 and the FA-18B, and the superiority of each jet. My choice was the A-10 Warthog as the ultimate fighting machine, but, he said the F-14 was the best aircraft of all times. Wen I asked why, he said the F-14 intake was THE place to have sex with other enlisted gals, and would always be his favorite.
Damn kids!
I didn't think the A-10 turbofan engines had an afterburner. Could be wrong though. My shop at Barber's Point Air Station was right next to the NAS runway. A-10 Bastards always hit the after burners right next to the shop, shook the hell out of our metal building.
Never bothered me, after the first couple of times. I love the sound of freedom.
