… Got turned on to Dave Alvin on my 40th birthday …was ready to walk out of the club in Hollywood and a girl grabbed me and said no you gotta stay and listen to this guy. He’s really good… That was 37 years ago… subsequently I had a long conversation with him at the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico where he was playing… He was looking for a mutual friend of ours…who was a cowriter on at least one song on each of his albums…but as long as I have known him…has a magical way of disappearing…
