...Captain Beefheart (Don Van Vleet)... recorded some of the oddest atonal stuff I have ever heard in my life...Although he died a number of years ago he still has a pretty large cult following ...he was pretty much intertwined with “the mothers of invention”...

A couple of months ago my daughter and I saw these cats in downtown LA. We stood in the pit against the stage and were close enough to a speaker stack to walk out with that ringing of the ears that doesn't go away until a couple of days later. Man, I miss gigs like that.

Interesting band, no guitar. Too heavy on the keyboard and effects, but this is a catchy tune and the bass player rips:

I was going through the John Prine catalog and found a version of his Angel Of Montgomery done by Susan Tedeschi.

Thanks for sharing that, I wasn't familiar with Prine, or Tedeschi. Great song and delivery!
I had always known of John Prine, but I didn't or still don't know any of his catalog. I had heard of Susan Tedeschi about 25 years ago, but hadn't heard anything since then. There's a really good duet of the same song with Bonnie Raitt and John Prine on YouTube also.

One of the Barenaked Ladies is a doing a Kraft Mac N Cheese commercial. They put on great concerts. Decided to listen to a few of their songs on YouTube.

... Little Willie G and his band Thee Midniters put the East LA music scene on the map in the 60s...
...Thee Midnighters and their music are responsible for a lot of the white chicks and quite a number of Hispanic chicks from my high school ...either getting pregnant while they were still in school or shortly there after... Nice job Mr. Garcia👍...

I think this vid is a couple of years old???

Emmylou Harris with Gram Parsons was a match made in Heaven. I’ve always liked Return Of The Grevious Angel, especially with these two.

Some years ago we were in Nashville and went to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Grams’ white embroidered suit was there on display. Way cool to see.

What a classic. I know it’s in my memory file as a 7 year old. But dang. Song of the day. Panty dropper.

I heard this song last night on Hell on Wheels season 2 e 2, in a bar scene with a bar maid singing this salty dick song and cracked me up.
