Honestly my favorite plane I have ever been in is Paul's bush plane.. I've had the opportunity to fly in it over the desert in Havasu (area) and land in the desert etc.. But flying through and over Glacier national park is an experience like nothing else.. Unbelievably cool

Not a fan of flying commercial. It’s too tight in the seats, and too crowded, I get horrible anxiety. First class is a lot better, but I still don’t like it. My dad had a Cessna, I remember flying in and out of John Wayne and doing touch and go’s, he loved doing that. My uncle had a Barron, still does. It was his dads, I know my grandparents flew with my great uncle all the way to the Bahamas in it. My grandma said it was horrible. Lol. Lots of fuel stops too. My great uncle flew flew a fighter in WW2, my other great uncle did as well, and went on to fly 747’s for Pan Am. He was the definition of a swinging dick. He had a convertible GT500 also. He was a legend. lol. My grand father(dad’s dad) flew bombers in WW2, they used his picture on a recruiting poster. I came from a long line of pilots. I like small planes, it’s interesting and a lot of fun. I know my wife wants to travel when the kids are older, I dread having to get in a commercial plane again. 😬

I seriously wanted to get my PPL once I retired. I watch a ton of excellent crash analysis videos and they are very informative as to what not to do. There are also lots of great videos on what to do as well.

I looked hard a getting a KitFox as they have a really short take off and landing requirement. You can also fold the wings and tow it from home to an airport and there is a small airport about 4 miles from me.

I have decided though, with my advancing age that I will forgo the PPL and spend my money on boating instead.

Once I retired I decided I will never fly commercial again. I love driving and have all the time in the world so if I can't drive there, I'm not going!

I booked a flight out of Carlsbad to Scottsdale with JSX. They get good reviews, a couple downfalls: no bar/restaurant/coffee (they have a private termina), no rentals, again no terminal. But, the wait is shorted and its closer, no having to get a ride down town to deal with all that. I hate flying, this might not have been my smartest move, as the aircraft is much smaller. If I live, I'll give you all a review. Anyone fly them? Looking for positive feedback! 😶

I have.. JSX is great! They have a nice fleet of Embraer jets.. You’ll have a great flight with them.

JSX is great. The best part is if everyone is there, they leave early if possible. Hopefully, they can keep doing what they are doing. The bigger airlines are gunning for them due to their ability to hire lower-time pilots since they are a Part 135 operator.

Not sure what you're saying here..

”it went into de-icing mode.Like flying in a Margarita blender while beaten by the Sledgehammers of hell”

sounds like you are saying that the prop blades were slinging ice and hitting the fuselage OR…

…if so, nothing more scary then 1 prop blade out of 6 that doesn’t shed ice. OMG

Over embellishing the racket it made de-iceing.
Everything was fine, everyone OK, just really, really noisy compared to other Aircraft we've flown in.

What planes do you like to fly in?
My very first airline gig was flying the ATR-72 for American Eagle out of SJU (San Juan, PR). My very first flight as a new FO was from SJU-SXM (Princess Juliana, Saint Martin). That was such a cool experience, and Ill never forget it. Most of my time is in CRJ's and 737's. I've also got time in more small planes and some small turboprops and jets. My absolute favorite was a Waco YMF-5 one of my students had bought new. It was out of Santa Barbara, and I used to love flying up and down teh canyons and all over Souther California in it.

All of them. I’m like a little kid, just enjoy flying. Most fun was probably the few times flying private. The steep take offs in those small jets are just fun, when the pilot gets with the program.

Oh . . . and maybe first class on Cathay Pacific or Singapore. Now that’s a whole new level of customer service.

Look into "Sport pilot" if you haven't already. Relatively new and not well known. Basically you just have to have a drivers license.

They usually have coffee and other complimentary refreshments in their little terminal buildings, i started flying with them back when they first came out 7 or 8 years ago. Used to be dirt cheap, now it's a little pricey but worth it.

I’ve been getting some stick time in my partners Pitts. It’s a cool experience being able to point a plane in any direction and send it. It’s very visceral, you basically are wearing the plane, I’m not big into aerobatic stuff but it’s super rad to pull some G’s in a turn or roll the plane and take a look around.

Airliners? Years ago Mesa was flying 90 seat RJs configured for 65 pax, leg room for days, it was great.

For everything else, what ever airplane I can ride in from the left front seat. 😁

But speaking of icing and airplanes, I was in the back of Brazalia 30+ years ago and the pilot turned on the deicing, the props started launching chunks of ice into the fuselage. "THWACK" every couple of seconds. The lady seated ahead of me would scream every time it happened, it was kind of funny.

Haha…yes, I’ve experienced this as well. 30 seat d-8/200 about half full. Ice smacking the fuselage on the decent. FA (sits in front facing pax) reading her romance novel, calmly picks up the PA, announces that the noise is just ice centrifugally sliding off the prop, sometimes hits the plane, not to worry, thank you, then hangs up without taking her eyes off her book. Pax started to express a wee bit of fright. A passenger sitting across the aisle looked to me with concern, I told her this is a good noise to hear and although unsettling, to me, it indicates the prop heat is working.

Concorde.

Ok im kidding, couldn't afford it. But I heard it was quiet and a smooth ride, not to mention a lot shorter flight.

Maybe X Boom will have a supersonic passenger transport by the time I can afford doing it.

I love to fly, although I have to sit in first being tall otherwise I hate the flight.

Cirrus Vision Jet is my choice if I were to buy one to travel back and forth from OC to Havasu. Back seat has plenty of space for someone 6'5". Plus, the safety Parachute is a nice touch.

Landing in San Francisco we hit turbulence and were catewhumpus and a hell of a bumpy slideways position on approach.

Lady in seat across from us panics and I told her "relax, these pilots learn landing on pitching carrier decks."
,,
it helped.

Well, the Southwest pilots in our OHV group did.

One flite with Maynard looking out the window the 737 Max wings were bending and flapping like a sea gull. Max up and down.

Maynard: “I hope the Boeing engineers stress analysis was accurate.”

I had to hold a lady's hand departing out of PHX one warm bumpy summer afternoon. She was legitimately scared, I felt bad for her and ended up chatting with her about flying and her fears about it for most of the trip back to Chicago. She seemed grateful to have someone to answer some of her questions in real time. I told her I was a pilot, but didn't tell her I flew bugsmashers mostly. 🤣

As far as commercial flights are concerned, I'm not really a frequent flyer but was always a Boeing fan because you want to support the American company, right? but long before Boeing started having all their problems, we started flying Hawaiian Airlines and their A-320. That 2/4/2 seat configuration with two aisles and double the amount of overhead stowage is sure hard to beat. The wife and I always book the two side seats and don't have to deal with siting directly next to someone you don't know and there's no rush for the overhead bin as they are rarely full.

Sling TSi. Modern aircraft with modern avionics and a Rotax engine that isn't from the 1940's.

It is my understanding that Sling will be able to certify the TSi as a light sport if they can get the stall speed down to 54 knots.

My dream aircraft would be the PC-12 or the Beech Denali when it comes out.

The fastest plane I have piloted is the Piper Saratoga II TC, which is pretty sporty as a cross country machine…. But I think the coolest plane I ever have flown is the Cessna 170B taildragger. I only have 4 types in my logbook, so not much variety.

Looking forward to MOSAIC soon. 2 seater Light sport that goes 200mph at 7-8 gph that you can do your own annual on would be very tempting!

My dad had a Navion and My Uncle had a Navion.
Low dash and great visibility all around in spite of being a low wing.
A really nice airplane.

My dad later got a Cessna P210 pre-air conditioning option - AKA no AC.
Van Nuys airport on a warm summer day or when pumping up the cabin approaching altitude it was like an oven.
Fun, fast airplane.

Vegas runs were fun. A blast.
Free assistance and tie-down at McCarren back then at the Executive terminal.
At least for us it was.
Cheap AvGas.
That's all changed now. No longer I'm told.

People land at Jean and get AV Gas much cheaper.

Some of the more comfortable commercial planes were some at Continental Airlines, prior to them becoming United. Continental once flew a wide body that had a mid section stand up Pub area. Believe they were DC-10s and 747s, on longer flights. The Pubs were full bars, tended by flight attendants. They were great, the attendants and the Pubs.

Another good plane was Luftansasa’s 747 non-stop from Frankfurt to LAX. They would convert the entire front row of the economy class into a Nursery. The babies were placed in Luftansasa provided carriers and secured. Was always interesting to see the mother’s recognize the cry of their particular baby, then get up and go tend to them. My wife was one of them. Our ‘baby’ will be 46 this year. Time flies (no pun intended).

I got a great buzz at a Continental DC-10 bar between LA and Honolulu in the 70s.

What planes do you like to fly in?
When you went to Dublin was it on Aer Lingus?
That's by far my worst carrier
Favorite plane was a new A380-800
