Heard a couple rumors of hiccups today.

Anyone hear anything more?

Now that they have CARB certs everyone should be able to take them home after the revised transmissions are put in.

3 years and 5 months.

Name another automotive startup in the last 30 years that was formed and got product to customer in less time.

Now add in a pandemic and worldwide supply chain breakdown during the same period.

It’s a pretty damn impressive feat.

Does a 20% attrition rate on the very first ride still qualify as a "pretty damn impressive feat"? 😁

Yes. Considering they were supposed to be out of business, the building wasn’t ready, they stole all the money, and no customer would ever get a car according to the experts. :)

Where’d all the shit talkers go?
Dude two of the cars broke down and didn’t finish the ride. All the cars still need new transmissions the 200 then 500 cars are no where to be seen.

Maybe some people that “talked shit” are just starting to feel bad for all the failures and set backs the golden tickets holders are watching unfold?

One of the owners posted that they got pulled over by the police and they were forced to trailer them back due to no street registration. He stated he did not break down

So let me ask a question?

If I went to one of the “other” dealers in town and bought a new car. Would I get a temp plate right then and there? Or do you still have to go to the mvd?

I have never bought a new sxs so I do not know even how it works in Cali too

I can only speak of my three purchases at the prior AZ West --- absolutely NOT, they would perform certain requirements, such as mounting a rear view mirror, but NOT an illuminated license plate. They were rather adamant about distancing themselves from any litigation involving the use of a non-DOT approved SxS being licensed for the street.
All that was up to you.

Or maybe the shit talkers just have no idea what they are talking about, per usual.

Speed specifically said in the past you need to trailer it off the property. If you are buying on an MSO, there is no registration anyway, and no dealer wants to get involved with asserting the cars are street legal. So essentially it’s on the owner, at least from Speed’s perspective unless something has changed.

Keep arguing it’s Speed’s fault the car wasn’t street registered for AZ.

👍🏻 😂
Kinda poor planning on speeds part tho. Mvd isn’t open on Saturdays. So no way to even get it registered. Also the biggest winter weekend of the year there. Lots of Leo presence too.

Yea you are right, having the open house on a Wed would have been better and got more traffic and attention.

Bert’s, Coyne, RideNow, Anderson, and all powersports dealers should all close on weekends.

Coyne took my Can Am (& 3 other people's) from Banning to Yuma on a Saturday and met all of us at a 3rd party registration office, they paid the registration and then we got are cars.

But let's get back to Speed, I REALLY doubt a cop stopped just 2 cars, brand new Robby Gordon Speed cars, and told them to trailer back.

That is great for you and the other 3 people.

To be honest I don’t think it was Speed’s top priority to get the things street registered for a single weekend for people that may or may not even want or need them street registered.

In true fashion people will complain about anything they can on this deal.

To your point, the stories from the people there in person are probably just lying and the people on the internet that know nothing about the situation, are probably right.

thats valid. The PD in havasu is pretty nice about UTVs on the street,,,,,,except plates. Ive seen them pull over for tags.

Shit happens. Clearly the one car did something different than the others with regards to registration. That is his business.

If I wasn’t going to street register it in AZ I sure as hell would not pay the hundreds of dollars to register it for the street just for an initial weekend ride.

According to the video review from the guy that was there on the ride, one of those three was a dumbass that went off trail and center punched a huge rock hard enough to break through the skid plate and crack the diff.

So does that count as a Speed car failure, or just some dumb f*** trying to drive like Robby Gordon when he was in fact following Robby Gordon?

SOOOO, 3 cars broke down, not the police telling people to get off of the road. Ohhh, and that's a story from a guy "there in person."🤔 🤣😅

Anyway aside from the whining about tacos, licensing, and cars that don’t exist, we got one review.

A guy broke his trans slamming it into a rock and breaking the skid plate and trans case.
One had a wiring harness that rubbed the driveshaft
One had a tune issue that sidelined the car

Overall there were a couple tuning quirks that got resolved, plus they were data logging all the cars.
There is a power steering quirk that gives a spilt second of extra feedback.
There are some digital dash quirks.
Stickers and sound deadening need better adhesive
The roof might need a brace in the center.

Build quality was really good.
Welds were really good.
Car is really fast.
Steering and acceleration is very crisp.
Car handles, rides better, and is faster than a Turbo S in this guy’s opinion.
Tech in the car is great but needs refinement on pairing and pages.
Visibility is great.
Interface to add accessories is great (but key has to be on to use them).

That seems like a pretty successful outing for the first 12 to be out in a testing capacity, considering no one was ever going to get a car at all and this was just a Ponzi scheme.

wonder if the data logging Mode had an impact on the electronics …( was it like a limp mode? ) hard to say ….

seems like a few electrical issues, steering issues/ feedback could also be electrical, like low voltage
also phone connection lost a few times
dash warning lights
