I hear ya. Wanting a Patek 5236p for my next big purchase. They are still staying somewhat close to retail.

Give it a few more months and they will be under retail. There is a lot of stock out there and demand has been vaporized. I want to buy another gold sub and those always were significantly under msrp... like almost half. I have recently been turning down pieces from my Rolex AD and they even said the calls pretty much stopped. They are just going down their lists as pieces show up every week which are also becoming shorter and shorter. White gold subs are already low 30's and when they hit mid to low 20's I'll be picking one up.

....and crazy to think the current SS subs were on the grey market in the 20's not long ago, let alone high 20's for SS pepsi, crazy. I wonder how much of it really was the Crypto funded flippers, etc.

Before the craze, I almost bought a yellow gold, green dial GMT for 20k. I thought for sure it would drop into the mid teens so I didn't purchase. Instead it went to 70k. LOL

Another addition to my GMT lineup. This one is a little more special than the other two and way way harder to get.

Neat piece and nice set of Lex's.

Im torn on Rolex's -

It feels like Im buying the same watch over and over and it doesn't feel very creative for the money, but I balance that with my historical rate of return.

Down to my SS basic Sub, got off a Daytona for stupid dollars before the slide, but I never really loved it anyway so there were no "feelings".

Rolex and redundancy are synonomous. The style is conservative and never really changes so once you're able to wrap your head around the brand its easy to like the entire lineup. The sub especially has not changed hardly at all for what, almost 70 years ?

Smart play on the Daytona. If prices ever go through the roof again I would definitely sell everything off.

How is it that you have access to dealer chats, McKay?

Are you a dealer yourself?

Make some friends in some watch circles and it's easy to get involved or invited into dealer chats. I'm on a couple Whatsapp chats but mainly just watch.

On the Daytona, watch people love and respect Daytona's, they are beautiful. But to the general public I don't think they really know what they're looking at. But almost everyone knows the Submariner, it's the classic Rolex. So I think that's why they keep popping them out, they really are timeless and synonymous with the brand.

A good buddy of mine just received a Daytona as a gift for his 50th birthday from his brother. It's incredible but he never wears it, he's too afraid of getting robbed. I guess it's a thing now.

Last year I was in Hawaii for a TV show with Ryan Seacrest. He flies in on a private jet and shows up to work wearing Hawaiian style clothing and a beautiful all gold Daytona, so sick. The guy is such a baller, I'd love to see his watch collection.

All my friends have Rolexs, but I can’t do it.

The first time I’m going to Los Angeles in the evening for a nice dinner I’d probably have to shoot two bandit brothers with a ski masks on..

I just don’t need the drama.

It’s LA, just rent a Rolex for the evening like everyone else 🤣

I know nothing about watches but my wife thought she might want one.
Is this one a good starter watch?

Or get a nice replica for $450

I know I know the purists will cringe but I have a buddy that could buy an entire Rolex Store. He has 1 real one and like 5 replicas.

After losing a real one he said "never again". He just likes way they look and and would rather buy Mutual funds and houses with his $$$

He even wears $100 amazon knock off that is not a fake rolex it's just a legal copy with it's own name. I don't recall the name but looks nice and works well. When you get right up to it you can read the name.

There is just no way I could wear a phony watch no matter how much money I had.

Especially when you can wear an iconic watch like the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical for replica money.

Get them Breitlings. Stores negotiate down considerably on them and they are very sporty.

Use code Rob25 or MW25 for ~25% off at mimosjewelry.com.

I've bought from Mimo ([email protected]) and been very pleased.

BW25 as well at Mimos. He's a cool cat as well, chatted with him on a couple of pieces, simply for the engineering, I might go with one of the brand electro static accutrons

Haha, my dad gave me his Gold President 20 yrs ago because he was afraid someone would roll him for it. I wore it a few times for special occasions but mostly it just sat in its case. Ended up selling it not too long ago........

I got rid of my President a few years ago and kind of regret it. Still have my GMT and Sub, but kind of like some of the guns I have sold, I regret letting go of the President.

Like an integrated bracelet?

$500 for a Genta (AP Royal Oak, PP Natilus) designed watch:

I dont consider that a replica because it doesn't try to pass itself off as something its not.

It's more - an homage to the awesome Royal Oak and super fun for the money.
agreed, its not trying to fool anyone, here is my factory metal case, with rubber strap. I really, really, really, want them to make an all steel where there is actually some contrast to the indices, but alas, Casio still having crap readability these days, black dial, white markers like the Japan only release in resin, then case it up in a dark steel. I will make do with mine in the meantime.

For affordable watches, I am a huge fan of Hamilton, my "Cooper" is probably worn more than my Omegas even. So comfortable, a cool back story, and great value.

Love my watches, but now I need to get a boat!

Awesome piece, I am bad with identifying Rolex cases, is this the newer model with the longer power reserve, 2020 and after I think? Either way, awesome, just trying to train my eye

Thoughts on this? How is it powered, wind, auto wind, battery, and how hard to get extra links?
I love Otis watches.
Its a cool under the radar brand, methinks.

My first mechanical watch was an Oris TT1 that I still have.
And my favorite beater is a Titan 47mm that I had bead blasted by a gunsmith…it’s not a small watch LOL

Of their current lineup, I’d wear the Pro Diver for sure.
Just be aware that they aren’t small watches…I like my watches chunky so it’s all good 👍

I need a "chunky" watch. XXL wrists! Any thoughts on where to see/purchase?

I either buy online & used to flip/trade watches here and there…if you want to see one in person Id have to google it TBH
If you can’t get a steep discount off MSRP, I’d get something like the Watch Recon app and see if buying used from a reputable seller was better value.

ORIS is a great value and solid choice in an entry level Swiss.

It's a mechanical automatic wind based on a Sellita movement with some tweaks.

Links are typically affordable and easy to get for ORIS.

This is really nice.

Im curious. Is there a brightness difference live or is this an artifact of the picture.

Notice the 40 (which is odd to have anyway) - the 4 seems much brighter than the 0.
Thats the watch that got me going down the rabbit hole to start with!
I found this one which seems to be a non current model. I think it is talking to me.

Its just the way the applied numbers catch the light. They don't have any lume, but rather are deeply "brushed" stainless steel, little grooves in them increasing the surface area and makes them really play around with the light. Here's a video showing it in natural light and some macro to see. Its also why the dial can look solid inky black in some photos, and rather silver grey with the the sunburst in it as well.

My dealer in Florida carries Oris, but as you said, it looks discontinued. The Jomashop discount looks pretty solid, but it does mean you have a different warranty than a factory one. That isn't a deal breaker for me. Watch recon would be worth a look to see what is out there as well.

You SHOULD be fine warranty wise. Jomashop actually answers the phone from what I understand - call them.
However if you do have a problem and find it was opened prior you COULD have a problem.
