It's been said before, but I honestly think she was at the best hospital, trying to get the best treatment. I had gone to this same hospital on 12/7 for a special monoclonal Infusion after I contracted the Vid, and was fine in 2 days. It doesn't help Stacy's Mom at this point, but dammit, she did everything any human could do for the best chance of beating this.

Dave, you do what needs doing. Be a father and husband...there is no time, nor need, to worry about this place. My wife lost her mom suddenly on New Years Eve 9 years ago.
As said many times here, it doesn't get "better", but it will get easier.
Hug your kids and wife.

I am Sorry I didn’t update this sooner, we are still trying to wrap our head around her passing, and how quickly it happened. We are devastated and still trying to figure out which way is up.

There is nothing to apologize for. Do what you need to do for your family.

And hug Stacy from all of us. ❤️

You have nothing to apologize for. I saw the news when I woke up this morning on FB and posted the quote since I knew you and Stacy would be processing.

RD,
Again, incredible you loaded that motor home with 3 fine kids,Grandfather and 2 dogs in LHC and today your family is together with Stacy. Down the road when good memories take over todays grief your kids will always know you and Stacy step up. 3 Grandchildren are old enough to never forget their awesome Grandmother.

And with that, we are derailing yet another covid thread, and I will bow out. Prayers sent to those involved.

Edit: Feel free to send a PM if you’d like.

So talking about treatment is derailing.

Damn.

Dave everyone reacts differently to the oxygen treatments to the lungs. As mentioned above, what they will do is monitor her oxygen. If she can start sustaining higher numbers they will move her out of the ventilator. If she cannot get her oxygen levels up, they will do a tracheostomy which is “easier” on the body.

Just had a 52 year old healthy friend go through this.

Rushed to hospital for very low oxygen level.

Ventilator in 5 days of being seen.

Tracheostomy 10 days after

Was this way for over a month.

His body fought every infection, pneumonia etc….

He is now home after about 45 days at the hospital. He can stand up. Walking to bathroom is still assisted.

Expecting a 80-90% recovery in 9-12 months.

The hospitals do have a protocol on meds and if the family is persistent they will administer all.

Decadron 6mg daily (steroid) if no improvement try higher dose

Anticoagulation (lovenox full dose)

Remdesivir x 5 days

Actemra x one dose (shortage is US)

Bariticinib 4mg daily

This was the meds from pulmonary doctor I’m friends with for him.
This is most realistic post regarding severe COVID, in the absolute best progression that I can relate to the inmates. In most cases, it will take much longer if it works at all. In most cases it wont. But here is the blueprint for treatment, for all of you who keep arguing about it.
