I'm surprised I couldn't find this here when I searched.
Student in a frat sees homeless guy breaking into his car, goes out to confront him, some type of altercation occurs, student stabs homeless guy, stays on scene to cooperate with police, claims self defense, booked for murder, $2 million bail set with no criminal record.
So much for little to no bail judges in LA.
Sounds like they are more against you protecting your property than they are against long rap sheet criminals murdering and fleeing the scene...
