Have you been to Place To Be in LHC? To me it's the best unknown restaurant in town. Great salads and Philly cheesesteaks
It's of Lake Havasu ave down by Bobalou
Ate there about 2 weeks ago..... lots of great things on their menu - an the Old Fashion on the menu is outstanding!!!

Their pastrami is a good sandwich, but the roast beef is so small compared to it.

Best sandwich is in Covina, called Capri Deli.
Is it still the same family running it? I haven't been there in 20 years. They had some good food then.

I’m gonna be honest. If you don’t want to pay the prices don’t go and eat out. As a biz owner there is so much that goes into operating costs alone before turning a profit the average person wouldn’t even know. How in n out keeps prices low is beyond me. We don’t eat out a ton but we do. Rent alone on industrial warehousing is 1.39 a sqft where we are and that isn’t retail. Retail pricing is $$$$ think of how many sandwhiches you have to sell just to pay say 5-10k a month in rent plus lights, product, wages, taxes, insurance, maint, etc.

We had two lunches and four drinks at RoadRunner yesterday. 73 dollars. Plus tip. 90 bucks. My lunch was almost inedible. Wife said her burger was good. I really am not a fan of that place. I may not be back.
Food is mediocre and the bartenders are easy on the eyes but have no desire to chit chat with the customers, I miss the old bartender crew.😪

My current project is downtown Seattle and last week I finally caved and stopped at a place that claimed to have the best corned beef and brisket sandwiches in the PNW.

I bought a sandwich only, smoked brisket. It was above average size but not worth the 22.00 plus tip. The brisket I make at home is 10X better than this place. As mentioned previously, it seems one meal price is predicticated on the minimum wage hourly rate. I didnt eat lunch or dinner on Thursday night last week and was really hungry. Had to runb to our yard Friday and stopped at Jack in The Box for a burger and small fry. One smash burger and small fry, no drink was almost 20.00.

Walking out on a business because of price after they made you food is a special kind of passive aggressive lol. I assume they have a menu with a price you can evaluate before you order. If they don’t have prices listed then

I have a buddy that likes to do this at the grocery store, Home Depot, etc. The prices are listed on every item you put in the cart. It’s so embarrassing, and you’re not proving anything other than your own incompetence. The person at the register can’t do anything about it 🤦🏻‍♂️

I used to shine coupons, but not anymore. Just used one at Arby's, burger fry and soda $7.99. Last week, Subway 3 footlongs for $20. If I don't have a coupon, usually In and Out or Del Taco. Fast food that's higher than a decent restaurant is BS.

I took this pic last night at Florida Panthers hockey game. I figured since I was in the bar line, and I remembered this thread…… I may as well take a pic of prices.

After watching my buddies kid win their 2nd HS Football playoff game, I didn't feel much like cooking.

I went to The Hat for a pastrami and...

The line of cars was out in the street!!!

Came home and fired up the air fryer instead. But I sure did want a pastrami and onion rings last night.

Damit! 😜

Walked 5 miles to brunch this morning so I wouldn’t feel bad about going big. Chicken and waffles and a Bloody Mary for me, wife had some bacon and eggs, $51.00 before tip. I’m hoping that plates of food like this knock some of the shitty days off the end of my life 😂

Like I said before in this thread if weee gonna eat out we just go someplace nice and it’s not much more than crap fast food.

I actually wonder how most restaurants will be able to stay in business here in California due to labor, rent, food & energy being off the charts plus over regulation.

Restaurants that have been in business for 50 to 90 years are actually closing/closed right now. The next couple years will be the death of the smaller places. In & Out will always be around but I think they suck ass & not sure why so many people love it. Plus there's a 1/2 hour line just for mediocre food at best. Marketing does work & brainwashes the average person. To each his own though.

First off, I dont mean to speak disparaging about anyone trying to make a go of opening a biz at all, but this was way over the top IMHO so all respect given
So mama wanted a Pastrami sandwich for lunch yesterday and there used to be a little sandwich shop on the south end of town that was pretty good so off we go, sorry closed, and now a donut shop.
We remembered a new shop in town on Swanson so off we go, got there and oredered our sami's and went to the counter to pay for 2 sami's and 2 smalll drinks. The nice lady says that will be $39.73 please, OMG  I asked if that was correct and yes she said. Normally I would have walked out at that point but mama was hungry so we paid.
Now the food was good, and quite big to be truthful but crap ****$40 for 2 sandwiches ???????????????
Point is, if this is the future for us people then we dont stand a chance in hell of making it IMHO:(
Rant over
The Hat’s pastrami sandwich, which was a treat way-back-when, is now $14.99. Add a soda and you’re at $20. They do make a fantastic sandwich and don’t skimp on the meat. They also have great “T” shirts.

And will feed two! Louie and I have split one, and some onions rings, and ended up full.

Good stuff. 👍🏼

We have The Hat right here by my shop in Lake Forest. My gut can only take that place about once a year but if you want a massive amount of food for a fair price its hard to beat.

This really isn’t difficult to grasp. Minimum wage goes through the roof. Products go through the roof, rent goes through the roof, workers comp insurance is nearly criminally expensive…who do you think pays for all those hikes and the inflation. The biz owners don’t. They pass it on to the consumer. All the fucktards screaming for $20 minimum wage are now shocked they can’t afford to go to McDonald’s. Speaking of which, 4 of us to eat at McDonald’s? $90! Not shitting you.

A small privately owned place like the OP talks about here? I don’t think there’s any money in it. Pretty sure owner isn’t driving their Ferrari to work. Faaaaaaar from price gouging. I’d wager to say they clear less than a 100k a year take home when all is said and done. If that.

Good friend of ours owns 9 jersey mikes. She does pretty good but not like crazy rich. She told me once you have to have 6 stores or more to retire “comfortably”. I took that to mean maybe a couple hundred take home a year.
Dude.... $6 double Cheesburger meal deal is the way to go for McD's....

My order there is almost always the same....... 3 cheeseburger happy means, 1 4 piece happy heal, and a cheeseburger meal deal. Comes out to around $32. Now use the app and the 20% coupon and I'm in the mid-20's. Still the cheapest game in town when done right (yes, all you health nuts, I know its garbage "food" but to feed a family of 5 for less than $30....)

WOW! This is extremely wrong.

Look at this for crazy high costs

This has to be BS right? The owner of the pizza place did in fact answer though.

I would be livid while Shin would probably just make it rain. Lol

I saw a lot of fun teams there. Doc screwed em up for sure. That weasel got in at Milwaukee and they are shitting the bed. He is a horrible coach and will throw everybody and anybody under the bus to save himself. No self awareness at all

I had the privilege of getting to attend a Rams game, at the new SoFi stadium.

We got to sit in one of the suites.

I was So far out of my league, it was unreal! 🤣. I would have guessed a bottle of water would have cost at least fifty bucks.

Luckily, everything you could ask for was there. Every alcohol, every appetizer, every possible snack and desert.

I can't even imagine what that deal must have cost, but that suite was owned by a nation wide construction company, who's owner has a house on a cliff in Newport, overlooking the ocean, that he used when he had clients to entertain. (His main home was in Palm Beach).

So my thought is...

If you're gonna hang out with the big dogs, you best be prepared for Anything that comes your way and not pitch a whiny azz bitch about it!

Me? I'll stay in my lane, with the home made 5.00 Boboli pizza crusts. 👍🏼😁

I guess the main thing to gather from this....its all relative
This is the truth right here. It's the same with everything really. Anything from burgers to boats, tacos to trucks. For some it may be a drop in the bucket, for others a bit more of a flood. Probably always been the same...like when my parents would a gallon of milk was 25 cents, and a gallon of ethyl was 45.

Basic Breakfast burrito at Poncho Villa's Needles this morning was $9 and change, And that's on the cheap side.

I know I'm late to the party, But the idea of a $100 dinner being a fancy deal is long gone, a casual Mexican dinner with a couple drinks is $100.
