I said it early on, many have repeated it, eliminate fuel.
relay, switch, fuse, every vehicle has one whatever it takes, no fuel no start, a thief will not spend time searching around.

broken window, maybe some damage, but unless they plan on towing it, the truck stays.

I have all the tools needed still for work Thank You!

They took that truck for the truck. Bonus was all the tools , riding gear and the clothes I was going to donate to fire victims.

I have 6 sets of work tools. Way to many but I like to always have the right tool for the job.

The work trucks and vans getting stolen daily from Torrance lowes and home depot are stolen just for the tools then dumped. I won't even drive a work rig to home depot. It's not worth the risk. I take a empty truck.

No. Dealing with the douchebag insurance guy. Won't talk numbers until I provide the service records. Says I need to submit everything by next week or he is going to send a demand letter. I was holding out hope I would get it back intact.

None of the recent ones have been recovered. But when I asked last week they don't even look into it or try and recover them.

Have heard of over 40 since mine all within a few miles. Was told if I put up the gates they would just use one of my other trucks to drive through the gate to get my new 1. So kinda torn on buying a new 1.

They did finally get out local thief. After he broke into my guess 700 cars in 6 months. One of the victims sent me his name although detective said not to. His picture is blasted all over his Facebook and his alias. The one he used on next-door to taunt his victims. The detective told me and numerous others that wasn't him. Hell it's tatted on his face on his FB selfies.

Just for my own knowledge. Why are they requiring the service records? What a painful process, I loathe insurance companies.
They said that really affects the value of the truck.

He asked how I knew when to change the oil. I replied every 3k miles. But the truck literally tells you when it needs it.

When I mentioned I changed my own oil it's like he didn't believe me. I told him look up my vehicles on the policy. I service them all. I do the maintenance on a lot of stuff. I got no need to lie. Going to send him pics of the cases of Mobil 1 oil I have on hand.

All my stuff is maintained. My diesel work truck is saying to change the oil. It has 1500 miles since the last. I got the oil sitting here. It goes by time since changed. Has under 18k miles and I have changed it 9 times.

They want pictures of the truck. Think it's a good or bad idea to send them this 1?

Only pics I have are loaded with rzr and with boat. I don't take pics of my trucks. But going to more often now.

He maybe more inclined to believe you if he see how you maintain your stuff. Clean. Like I said, on mine the adjuster noticed the clarity of my paint. Combined with proof of purchase from shine supply I got more for my vehicle.

Where do you get your oil and filters? Can you have them pull your purchase history?
Costco for oil and O'Reilly for filters.

I have the receipts filed but no time to dig them up. Just going to make a log to show him.

I don't have 5 cases of oil on hand for no reason. Costco $32 for mobil 1 when on special. Under $50 for oil change. For $50 I am not going to neglect my truck. The truck was perfect for my needs. I planned on keeping it a long time.

I hear you. Costco is great for oil. I do the same. You have me thinking now how I would prove it. Going to have to make an attempt at that. My wife is always after me to make a list of everything I do to all the toys and when. Not even for this, but for me. Because I start losing track of it all. I do pretty much everything myself on both vehicles, the boat, boat trailer and the toy hauler. Remembering years and hours and miles on everything becomes difficult sometimes. I started a list. Just terrible at keeping up with it. I think you motivated me.

I would be livid if my insurance company treated me like they are you. It is like they are sifting fly shit from pepper in order to tire you out to the point you will accept a low ball price.
Thats pretty much what they do.

I think I’d shift your attitude towards him. Tell him you’re going to call the state insurance board and get an attorney involved if he’s not willing to start helping you. This is ridiculous.

That's just how they play their game...

In 2020 my wife was hit in our extended cab shortbed duramax...

They tried to send me comps in std cab long bed work trucks because the wheelbase is the same. I argued for months with them (actually CC1 is the valuation company they use) that a std cab work truck is not the same as a loaded pleasure truck, it got the the point that I just let the truck sit in impound to run up their tab and burn them down. Finally at the 6 month mark we settled

1. Type up a demand letter yourself stating that the service records were in the glove compartment of the truck and are unavailable. Tell them they have xx amount of days to move the process along or you will be referring the matter to your attorney and the state insurance commissioner. Send it certified with proof of delivery.

2. Sign up for a legal package through legal zoom, use your initial consult to have an attorney draft up a demand letter forcing them to play ball.

If that was your only vehicle and you had no other means of transportation, they wouldn't be dragging their feet. I'm assuming you told him you have other vehicles to drive, so he's holding out to get you to accept some lowball offer to make it go away.

Maybe Costco can pull up your purchases. I know that my wife does it from time to time. If needed I can ask her. Just let me know. 👍

Screw that guy over his head. Back in the day my dad bought a new Chrysler and the AC pump took a dump. They were saying it was his fault because he didn’t bring the car in for oil changes, etc. My mom wrote corporate a letter saying how my dad‘s been a mechanic all his life and does his own service Dealer Operating in bad faith, etc. Took a couple of days they notified him to bring it in for a new compressor.
How many oil changes could this thing have possibly had in its life? Not like it’s 10 years old.
He’s just blowing smoke to try to get a lowball on the value. I’d be going scorched earth at this point, attorneys state board, etc. Sounds like this guy wants a fight.

I would be screwed if it was my only vehicle. I can wait it out though. Not settling for less.

Going to send him everything tomorrow and I will update how it goes. If they take care of me I will continue with them. I will even transfer a few other things over to them as well. I was paying around 1800 for 6 months on that truck with a perfect driving record. Around 12k a year I pay in premiums to them. They make me whole and I will be over 15k a year if I drop my other policies and go with them.

When my lexus hybrid got totaled last year the adjuster called me and said he was taking the avg dealer asking price of 3 cars for sale nearest my zip code. He read me the 3 prices and I googled it while on the phone with him and confirmed they were accurate and I took the offer immediately. I complained about losing my low interest loan and the $1300 service I had paid for a couple months prior but to no avail I think I got about $33k including sales tax and dmv proration. Right now I could replace the car with two year newer vehicle with less miles on it but I have been driving my old SUV around hoping interest rates drop and there is an overproduction of vehicles that will further drop prices.

I would just crop the truck out like this, they do not need to know what it is or isn't towing etc

Thanks. The launch ramp is a 100 yards from there. But I don't want them to think it was used heavily. Thought maybe the boat would show that I have nice stuff and not a broke scam artist trying to commit fraud.

Based on what you have posted, adjuster will use boat against you.
Will say you have been towing long distances with a load close to limit. Then we will ask for transmission, rear differential service, etc.

I would be calling my agent and make the agent work.

I have found, the less info they know and have, the better off you are. Not to say you are lying, just answering with basic info and keep the ball rolling.

They don't think rationally like that, the adjusters are mostly dumb kids....

… it sounds like you are dealing with the first person… in other words the adjuster… What I did with my Dodge ram is all correspondence went to the adjusters supervisor, and the manager of both of them… I was advised to make all future correspondence by email that way you have a permanent record …It saves you a lot of steps for all correspondence to go to all three at the same time instead of having to step up the ladder if necessary… also get a phone number for the corporate office complaint line…and file a complaint with them…

I did tow with it. But not much. It's rated for 16k. Boat probably 6500 or less. I would say 500 towing miles, 33k highway miles not towing and the rest around town. Very light use. I use my other 2500 to tow 90% of the time.

But I appreciate the insight. I won't send that pic.

Ask this fuck head exactly where In Nada guide and kbb does it ask about oil change intervals to determine value. Also ask him to show you in your contract where it says you must provide maintenance history to determine replacement value.

Remind him you are the victim and you pay fees to be protected In these events. Ask him when you can expect your denial
Letter so you can provide it to your attorney to begin that process.

Also ask him to provide service history for every single comp he finds and tries to use to drive the value down....if he can't prove that any of the comps have had on-time services like your truck has, then the only logical "like for like" solution is a new truck off the lot.

No used truck with same miles would be the equivalent. I feel new is my only option to get what I had.

I searched every chevy 2500 in transit and found 1 with the same options but not silver. White. I specifically ordered a silver 1 so it wasn't like my work trucks. Got the fold up console so I could haul my 5 Nieces and Nephews with Me. Saw them all today at my Moms house. "When we going to the River" was first thing they said. Should of been there this weekend instead of dealing with the BS.

I Sent my sales rep the Vin earlier and all the options I added. So She can get me a quote on the same exact truck.

If he gives you any shit, drive your sasquach ass down there and stand up next to his desk....he'll probably hand you his keys to drive his car to the dealer to pick up your new truck with your check. lol. You probably won't fit in his car, but it would be fun.

(I've met Nick...he's not small)

Still lizard is stolen and that started on January 23 so the insurance code says unless there’s a need for a special investigation they need to settle in 30 days so your time is coming up.

@yz450mm your post got me thinking. I also have always changed my own oil to avoid the hacks at the dealership that make a mess or forget to tighten things. I had a warranty issue on my old Silverado and the dealer tried screwing me as I had no proof of my services.

On the last two vehicles I have kept a detailed log with dates, mileage and receipts for the oil and filters. I keep this in the glove box so it would be gone if either were stolen. I will remove these now from your post and how Nic is being scrutinized by the shit bag insurance company/adjuster. Crazy the lengths these assholes go to in order to screw the customer.

Get yore agent involved. You two have the most to lose if you leave.
The good neighbor was trying to bone me. I called and emailed the agent. Problem was resolved in an hour.

I don't have a specific agent. I signed up online.

My agent of 20 + years at Allstate went to shit. He quit answering calls and then Allstate dropped majority of my policies. So I switched.

Sending everything he requested today. Will see how the numbers look and go from there. His attitude is shit. But from his title looks like he is a 3rd party. I don't think he would talk to me like that if I was sitting at his desk.

Awe, if he is 3rd party that makes sense. They are paid on performance of negotiations in the favor of the insurance company for monies saved.
