Does this mess with any of the sensors or anything?
Problem solved.

F Kommiefornia emissions. Take the cats out and straight pipe it until it’s time for a smog.

Sorry to hear your experience is not going well. Mine was fairly smooth and the adjuster was nice. I got them up from their original offers with comps and proof of certain things I had done.

Hope it smooths out for you.

Would they cover anything in the truck? Personal items.

Lucky the dealership had installed my amp steps and other options.

Not sure what they are going to classify my weatherguard box as it was bolted in.

I didn't have much other than the frame to a pistol. (I was picking up the slide from cut). I didn't claim anything else. Didn't think they would cover the pistol.

I provided proof of all the paint correction products I bought. The adjuster did note she noticed my paint was extra bright and glossy. She gave some extra for that.

… Thats what I did with my Dodge ram… The cat is in my garage… Another factor is the Ram is a ‘97 just before needing to be smogged… I’ve posted the story before… I was out in my front yard and a vehicle pull up. A guy hopped out of the passenger seat and rolls under my truck when he saw the cat had been removed. He got back in the car and left… This shit is real….

My Tundra is still missing the cats. Sheriff told me they would steal them again as soon as I replaced them.

It's a fucked up world to have to deal with this shit everyday. I can see why so many move. My grandparents farm house in Iowa sits vacant. I could move and be a farmer. My cousin lives down the road in Maysville. 3600 sq ft house 2500 sq ft shop 450k.

But my Mom lives 2 minutes from Me and always needs help. My Nieces and Nephews are here. And I got a good crew that has worked with me for 18 years that rely on me. They also do a lot for me so I can't leave. Work Harder and build a fortress.
What town or area do you live in?

Southbay
This house is in Lomita. Used to have sheriffs all over the place. Now we have 1 that patrols at night. But I never see them.

We have a local stealing from vehicles every night of the week. He also hits Torrance and harbor city.

We have a catalytic converter thief hitting every night.

Now from what the responding sheriffs said. They are stealing a truck a day on average.

My other house is in LA city territory but a Torrance address. Been the hood since I bought my first house there 24 years ago. Don't have these problems there.

The problem (or blessing) anymore, when a thief steals anything, they need to change the License plate fast or take it off the road. Flock cameras are everywhere. the days of them driving around in a different city and using a truck really doesn't exist like it used to be.

I guess it depends. One of my guys trucks has been stolen twice. They used it for a month first time and 3 weeks 2nd a street sweeper camera detected it as stolen each time. Once in North Hollywood and another in Wilmington. It's parked in front of my project house now. Had a club on it and a brake type club device. Both broken off.

One of the dump trailers I have was stolen when my buddy owned it. They used it for 4 years. Before parking it in a neighbor driveway and the neighbors called police. Same plate still on it.

I think they have to actually check the cameras. Sheriff never offered to. My neighbor, and 2 members here did. Which I greatly appreciate.

Would your homeowner's policy cover the personal property in the truck (your tools / equipment)?

Sucks you bust your ass to make a living and others chose to just steal their way through life.

Adjuster said to make a claim with my homeowners or renters insurance if I had it.

I always thought my vehicle coverage covered personal items inside vehicle.

I have not contacted them yet.

The second you contact homeowners insurance it counts as a claim regardless of coverage decision. My wife’s car got broken into and we called our homeowners since she had thousands in gift cards and door prizes for Christmas parties. They wouldn’t let us cancel and the house deductible counted towards the claim so we got about $1k from homeowners.

This. Think carefully before even calling and asking. With the homeowners insurance disaster getting worse in ca this could cause a problem later. If anything is paid out good chance your rate will go up, deductible might be raised too and many companies won't take someone with a claim. Even a $0 claim will cause problems if you need to change companies or get insurance on a different property.

I didn't plan on making a homeowners claim. I figured the tools were a total loss off the get go. Was hoping to atleast have personal items, clothes and riding gear covered under auto.

Homeowners insurance is definitely a issue in this area. Allstate dropped me last year claiming it was fire zone.

Have to ask my tax guy if I can write off the tools as a loss.

This is CA....just go steal more tools. Hell, might as well steal another truck too, since LE doesn't seem to give a fuck.

Check out what trucks your local LEO has in their yard....and go steal one of those, that way when the cats get stolen, you know where to find a new set.

Sorry if i missed it Nic, but was this truck a company vehicle through your business or personal owned?

The last truck i had stolen i submitted a claim with my business insurance and they covered 25k in lost tools and equipment. This truck had liability only so the auto coverage didnt cover the vehicle itself but i got something atleast.

It was on my personal auto policy. My work trucks are on a commercial policy.

All are insured through same insurance company. Just one personal and 1 auto.

I had a separate tool policy through Allstate. But they dropped my commercial and tripled my personal over a year time period. So I switched. I don't have a tool policy from this company. I didn't see it as option.

… The way, my Home Owners is set up… If I were to have made a claim on all my tools being stolen out of my Lance camper, which had been sitting on my front lawn… That my homeowners would have gone up a whole bunch… I forget exactly what you call my type of policy… It may be worded as something like a…no claim policy… I can’t really remember…🤷🏽‍♀️

When my truck was stolen from the Ontario Airport parking lot, everything inside was covered.
It was located on day 28. StateFarm and I already had a number and check was to be cut on day 31.
SF decided to pay for the 20k in repairs. I traded the truck as-is on a ford and used the 20k as additional down.

If truck was stolen from house, belonging inside would not of been covered.

To add to this. Don’t send anything, right now.
They will use that to give you a lower number.
Do your own research based on year and miles to get apx value.

I would take a different approach than letting the insurance company take the driver's seat.

Go buy a new truck, comparable....The one that was stolen was a 2023 IIRC, so that's basically a new truck. Send a copy of the invoice to your insurance company and CC your attorney (You've been in business for a while, you have an attorney I'm sure)...and simply demand that a payment for the total amount shown is due in 15 days.

Curious what would happen if they recovered his truck a day after he made a new purchase.

Then they have a truck they need to figure out WTF to do with.

The reason that things are the way they are is because we allow it to be that way. We pay them, they work for us....not the other fucking way around. Don't allow it to be that way...solve your problem if you are able, then call them to the table to perform.

I went through 2 insurance claims in the last 5 years...the first one about gave me an annurism....the second one, as soon as I started getting pissed off I simply cut off communication and because I was able to, had things handled my way to fix my vehicle, then sent an email to the insurance company, the party that hit me, and another email addy that appeared to be an attorney. I had a check fedexed 2 days later.

I'm done dealing with their fucking games.

I have not even looked at new trucks yet. My thoughts were get the Tundra so I don't miss any trips. Then I will have it as a second crew cab river runner vacation truck when I get a new 1. My Brother just sold his crew cab and he can use the tundra when he needs to. 20 years ago I used to borrow his crew cab diesel 4x4 all the time for Glamis and Naci trips.

I have been bummed the fuxk out all week. Just got a lot more jobs to bid and collected enough today to buy me a new 1. Life sucked for a week and now it's looking positive again.

If you need a truck for trips with the kids in the near future....I have a 8 lug crew cab chevy that just sits here...you're free to borrow it if you need it.

The wife had been in insurance business for 30+ years. She always noted that personal contents fall under homeowner’s/renter’s insurance coverage. Sorry for the loss.

Just can’t park it at his house overnight. 😂😂 too soon?

Glad things are looking even better work wise and I hope you keep rebounding way past this setback.

Getting robbed sucks. In addition to my wife’s car several years back in a parking lot, my truck got all busted up from thieves trying to steal it parked at my front curb 2 years ago. Live in a great neighborhood with two cops as neighbors and even more up and down the street. No cameras picked up anything. They were in such a hurry they broke the prong off the cylinder that rotates inside the column and couldn’t get it started. The assholes even punched driver and passenger door locks to gain entry. They haven’t been back yet so I figure they think I had some other antitheft device which I do now.
