I honestly don’t remember but
How much were those? And what are you running for a spare? One of your old wheel/tires?

Looks sweet btw
I’ll find out ...I had 7 of them so I ran a new one as my spare

My trailer has 14" rims and had lo pro cooper cobras on it. I finally switched out to Goodyear Endurance recently and the difference is like night and day. It tows so much easier it feels like I gained power.

I didn't think the Endurance tires had been out for 7 years.

Sorry meant to say, I have them on all my trailers and have no problems so far. But I change my tires out every 7 years regardless of wear or appearance. (which is why I think I don't have problems)

23 ft ultra with a tandom trailer. I have car tires. First set lasted 6 years before coming apart. Put another set of car tires on (all I can fit) 2 years ago and no problems. I only tow in havasu
Toyhauler has e rated endurance’s on it. I have about 7000 miles on those. No problems.
I tow at 70 for all my trailers

I ended up going with new steel wheels in 14x8 and 235/65 tires....

Fit well with the new 10" wide fenders, compared to the old 7" wide wheels and 7" fenders.

... still getting the new fenders installed, as it's one of many trailer upgrades I'm doing at home.

On my Lavey 2750 triple axle trailer I had good experience with the Costco Towmaster ST 215/75R14 radials rated 2200#. I think they were around $90 installed and seemed to last a good while if the air is maintained properly.

I will never run trailer tires again , 99% are made in China and are not held to any minimum standard .I now have regular car tires , same size and with 6 , more than enough load capacity . They are going on 4.5 years now , I’ll let you how they work out . I’m so over changing blown “ special trailer “ tires on the 40 .

As noted, maxxis tires are the best.

In 20 years with car tires on my triple axle trailer I’ve never as much as had a flat, much less a blow out. Shit I hardly ever have to put air in them 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’ll also never use a trailer tire again

Triple axel trailer for a 5000 lb boat. I have a similar setup...car tires are fine. I run 15’s. Set will last 6 years

Check out Goodyear HMG 2020 Trailer tires.

These are apparently what U Haul puts on their trailers. I just towed a dual axle trailer with four of them on it. 8 hours straight, maintained mostly 60 - 70 mph from San Francisco to San Diego. I stopped for gas twice and a burrito once, checked the tires each time for heat with my hand. I was pretty surprised how cool they were. They aren't very pretty though.

The other brand I liked was from DURO. Pretty much every other one has sucked.

What size tires are you running? What brand?

I have had my share of trailer tire issues, with Carlisles, Greenballs, and Goodyear Marathons all having tread separations within a few years even while checking and maintaining tire pressure. I switched to Goodyear Endurance tires a few years ago, and so far so good although I still don't trust them 100%. I need to check, but I think the tires on my trailer are 3 or 4 years old now. I have been debating going to a 14 ply truck tire next but haven't decided for sure.

Fenders are coming out good and ya the 10 inch wide fenders look way better.

Can you post some pics of the boat as well. It looks very familiar to me.

So I continue to be frustrated by the lack of good trailer tire solutions!
*. Trailer tires in general suck!
*. I would prefer to run a D or E rated LT tire but these don’t come in sizes for 14” rims which is what I currently have
*. I could step up and buy new 16” rims so that there would be a good selection of LT tires to choose from BUT, it is nearly impossible to find a 16” rim with a 5x4.5 bolt pattern!

It looks like the latest reviews of the Goodyear Endurance trailer tires seem to buck the trend. People are reporting they hold up well compared to other trailer tires. I feel a bit defeated going back to another trailer tire!

What have others done to solve this problem? I have a triple axle trailer hauling a 26’ Ultra Shadowdeck. Thanks!

1) Use a US made tire.

2) Goodyear

3) problem solved.

I had my trailer serviced at my local shop. I asked him about the topic we are talking about here. Why would he say you "cant run 16's with those tires on this trailer"?
Just curious. I am over going through shitty 14" tires every 3 years.

I've read that the more axles you have on a trailer the less tires can flex which causes issues. I have no idea if this is true, I only offer anecdotal evidence that my dad's single axle Jet Boat trailer had the same tires on it for 20 years, no flats, no nothing. Everyone I know of with double or triple axle's has had at least one blow out. This could also be due to tires were just made better back then.

225/70/15 Hankook Optimo 1764lbs rating. x6 = 10,500lbs of capacity and I probably have ~6500lbs on it.

That being said my original trailer was built as a low profile so the boat would fit in the garage and was running 185/65/14 tires at 1168lbs each so they were loaded to their Max. Not a single issue in 16 years with that trailer and only changed the tires once in that time.

I would either run a Load Range E LT tire or check out Sailun 637s. I had those on a super heavy car hauler and they’re beasts. Depends on what you can fit in your fenders though.

I have a tandem axle trailer. That might be my limiting factor. But thanks though. Much appreciated
What size wheels and tires are on it now and how much weight is on the axles?

I’ve heard that too but it hasn’t been my experience. I have some pretty hard 90 degree turns to get into my driveway and storage unit and never seen an issue with a tire coming apart. Working at a boat shop growing up and seeing them pull some big heavy boats on triple trailers out of the shop and a sharp 90 with a forklift, you’d be shocked how much abuse the tires can take lol.

FWIW my 5th wheel has Sailun All Steel Radial Tires -S637 - ST235/80R16 14PR 129/125L Load Range G

According to Discount Tire and other online sources: A trailer tire should be inflated to the maximum inflation designated on the sidewall of the tire to provide the full load carrying capacity.

Tandem axke trailer. Ultra 247. Boat loaded up is probably 3500 to 3600 lbs. Don't know what the trailer weighs

Trailer tires suck. But yet "they" all say "they're better, stronger". B.S. After watching three of my buddies have blowouts on the and m same trip home from Shasta, all with 3-4 year old Carlisles on Extreme Trailers, I went back to car tires, which weigh more, feel stronger, and apparently are better

Youre probably about 5k with the trailer. ~500lb will be on the tongue. You’re running a 26” tire now. In a car tire, you could run a 215/70/14 or 225/70/14 (26.5”) and have 1500-1700lb rating each. If you wanted to go to a 15” when you could do a 215/65/15 at 1565lb. Plenty of options for a car tire with enough load rating 👍🏻

Anyone know where or if I can get my trailer rims straighten? I got 6 new tires a couple of weeks ago in Havasu and somehow 3 of my rims got bent but the tire shop would not take responsibility 🤬 Their response was “ it’s only cosmetic and they were already bent” um no sorry I just wiped them off the day before and they weren’t bent. It’s not to bad but still, I like my stuff clean and I didn’t bend them.

Well I had some Carlisle Trail HDs put on at America’s tire. I’m seeing the date code is about 9 months old. Should I be concerned about the age? I’m not sure if I can get a newer made one or not.

As a side note, I am looking for function over style. I like the idea of having a regular/tall sidewall vs going with low pro tires. I just want a solution that will last without worrying every time I tow the boat. My usual tow is 20+miles each way with the occasional long haul to Powell or Havasu.

Well I went back to America’s Tire. They were completely cool about it. Took them off and put on Goodyear Endurance Tires with an April 2021 Date code. They cost more but them took more off their bottom price for the inconvenience. They are a solid company in my opinion and will use them again.
