What's it going to take to get these prices back to something in the realm of the real world? Is a full blown recession what is needed?

I am still seeing clapped out Jet Boats asking for 12k, needs interior.

Fox Body mustangs, 15k, 300k miles. "I know what I got"

Everything I see i still higher than giraffe pussy.

Is this just the new world we live in?

I know people are going to say, "Stuff aint selling". But I never see the prices drop.

What Say Ye?
I’ll sell you my jet boat but it’s not clapped out in fact it’s got a brand new interior in it but it’s not 12k lol

Duramax trucks have been the same price for the last 10 years lmao. same trucks that were $35k in 2014 are still $35k but 10 years older and now have 170k miles always. LMFAO

Facts. I’ll probably sell my truck for what I bought it for.

The newer ones are follow the trends of the older trucks lol. A 2015 or 2016 denali with 50k miles is still going for $50k which isn’t too far off of what they went off the lot for and they’re now almost 10 years old.

I paid 72 otd with extended warranty for my aT4 duramax Mk smith sent me a trade in offer for 35k. Truck is 3 years old with 45k miles I thought it was comical.

Should have read your response before I posted....

I have a 10k deposit on my '21 Vortex 3817V fully loaded, residential package, 3 ac's, auto level, 7k genny, etc.... sold it for $60k. Granted it's selling to family , just didn't have to deal with the BS selling to the public for what, another 5k?

For me I wouldn’t pay what they are asking for a used truck that’s way out of warranty. One problem and it’s going to cost another 5k to fix.

Emissions kill them and gets costly.

It is, but its paying off the loan and i believe we got a good deal on it at $72K OTD so not loosing much.

My wife's Aunt and Uncle have been good to us allowing us to use their Havasu house all the time when we wanted. I think we are still making out for not paying anything for years.

everyone else staring to see the price drops on used side x sides? I look at the toy market all the time, and really noticing prices coming down on these. Also seeing a lot of the same boats and sandcars just sitting on the market and being re-advertised. There were 2 can ams that I spoke with the sellers about and both reached back out after weeks letting me know they've reduced their prices. I don't think the "bottom has fallen out" yet... but it is getting close. I have not been eye balling the RV market at all, but I would assume it is worse?

I had the intention of selling my sandcar to upgrade before this season, but I have decided to just keep it for now and enjoy it this season and maybe several more. I always like upgrading or switching it up every 4-5 years, but probably smarter to just enjoy what I have at this point.
Shit appears to be wildly out of control in the sandcar market. Or have I been hiding under a rock for the past 6 years?

Did anyone here sell their expensive toys before the housing crash in mid 2000’s? Any regrets? It sure feels like the right time to step off the toy carousel before people start getting thrown off involuntarily. Hesitation is selling now and prices dont drop ever, if thats the case I’ll likely never own one of the same caliber again (sand car) - similar to if someone had sold their house and rented in 2021 expecting a dramatic decrease in home prices, you kinda f’ed yourself.

Just buy things you can afford and it shouldn’t be a problem. That’s why all my stuff is used and older! I don’t need the latest and greatest just want to get out and have fun!

Same reason you buy a house in a price you can afford! No need to be house or toy poor.

I was perusing RV Trader yesterday. Lots and lots of price drops noted in vehicle descriptions. Things are not exactly priced for a fire sale yet but you can tell motivated sellers are getting serious about finding a buyer.

I read that 11,000 boomers reach 65 years old every single day. That's a lot of folks retiring. (Not that every 65 year old is retiring at that age, but many will soon after.)

I would assume the RV market would be a place many turn for fun travels, or less happily for a place to live full time since inflation has made life so damn expensive. Adventurous ones will look for boats and side by sides. It may buoy the market.

Some of these dudes are smoking rocks. Middle car at least looks like a complete refresh. This seems like the best deal I’ve seen on a Sandcar lately. There are some people still asking 70k for side x sides

I feel like the sand car market has been shit the past few years. People want way too much for these clapped out mid 2000's cars. That middle SCU is nice, body is clean and he has a good motor/tranny package. I think the market is way too high and its different than the boat market. You can go out today and build a decent car brand new for 150-175k. No you arent building a funco or tatum at that price but there are other builders that do a good job and have nice cars in that range

Was I delirious from all the BOOZE at the sand show and wrong thinking the 4 seat S was way to long to be practical?

I keep a close eye on a small corner of the RV market as I would like to make a change in my motorhome if the specific one I want comes available. There are ALOT of coaches coming for sale and all the ones I see are from older folks. In the past 3-4 months, I have seen a drastic increase in coaches for sale, like 4x available versus what I have seen over the past couple years. There are also some pretty reasonable deals out there, with prices lower than pre-covid pricing.

It's only gonna get worse...the maintenance cost and dealing with fab shops is an absolute nightmare. Not to mention the fact that there are only a handful of places they can even be used. The big dogs (Tatum/Funco/Alumicraft/etc) will be all that's left soon. UTV's just make more sense in every way.

I completely agree. You have to love sand cars to want one over a sxs. We do all of our own maintenance and fab work in house so that isn't an issue for us but the average joe definitely has a hard time dealing with the local shops and the rates they charge. with that said there is no comparison between a sand car and a sxs in glamis. Glamis is one of the only reasons we still live in california lol there is no other place like it. For the past few years we only go to the dunes but my kids are getting to that riding age and my son is starting to ride his Pw50 so we will start doing the desert thing more

Those newer cars will still go for that.
So pretty much will be a DCB situation where only the Ultra High end stuff is built and all the working mans choices are used.

I follow that Aaron Rice guy on Instagram and he buys and sells 400k cars like he is changing his underwear. Constantly building new RV's, Haulers etc.

100% how it’s gonna be.

A motor/trans combo is gonna be 40k easy for an 600hp LS/Sequential. Once you add in all the fancy stuff and no financing available, the buyer pool is tiny!

We got a RZR to do more desert trips, and yet we end up at Glamis 99% of the time. My husband’s family all had sand cars before, and now there is just one sand car left in the group. I just told my husband that we need to sell the RZR and get back into a sand car.
I prefer them in Glamis and am much more relaxed in one. Anytime there’s a seat in the sand car in our group, I gladly switch over.

Yep there are a few builders out there where you can build a new car for around 125-175K, but you are usually getting 10+ year old tech and a NA LS motor w/ a medium duty trans.... if compared to boats this would have been the 496HO package

for the higher end cars, new tech, bigger motors / trans, nicer interiors etc etc you will not find anything below 250K... add in some options and bigger power etc every builder is 300-350K

Big difference between a 20 year old SU/SCU and a new $300k build….cant say Ive ever seen an S4/5 car listed for over $100k
I've seen plenty of s4/s5 cars listed over 100k. What they actually sell for is a different story, I don't think any s4/s5 car is worth more than that. That being said I would list my car over 100k lol

agreed. We had redline get us a quote for a LS twin turbo and it was $45k. We were actually really surprised. When my dad built his RHS block w/ 3.3 whipple it was $45k, but that was 7 years ago

45K including the turbos and exhaust? I'm guessing no ECU?

A buddy just got his motor completely rebuilt by redline... same block, but got new heads, new intake... kept his turbos etc and it was 37K  .... TOP of the food chain power through.

This doesn’t include turbos or manifolds.

That price included turbos. It did not exhaust or ECU. Depending on if you go with Holley or Motec you could easily spend another $5k-$25k no problem. We've known mike since he started, our shop was next to his first shop in placentia and he's always done the motor work on all of our cars so he does give us some better pricing than most

I’m sure you’ve ridden in way faster cars than I have but the sensation of speed in a rail vs a car is next level. Nothing like being a few beers deep and being pushed in your seat by a TT rail at night. That’s probably the only time I’ve had “tunnel vision”.

You’re right. A twin turbo rail with a no lift shift squential is a whole different world. Especially going down the drags and seeing the whoops. Like godddamnnnn

It’s either top tier for cars or nothing basically. The ones that made affordable cars have either stopped or went to sxs stuff like cages etc.

Kind of like the boat market you get eliminator dcb hallet etc and none will make you a small boat when people are willing to spend for bigger. So not much to choose from unless go production

It’s at paint right now, hoping it will be done by Halloween but not too mad if it doesn’t, I’ll just chill in camp. lol 100% pussy foots it, the bills just seem to get higher every time I break it. And she absolutely does. She doesn’t get angry when she breaks, she only gets angry if I break it 😂
