It's designed to operate at the depth of the bottom... Shouldn't be crushed.

That said, one tiny little imperfection in a piece of glass, and the pressure would be an instant death.

If the submarine was compromised they never felt a thing. It would be instantaneous death.

Worse would be if it lost power and sunk to the sea floor. Pretty sure you would slowly die of hypothermia.

The sub is a crushed blob on the ocean floor, and the occupants didn't suffer. It was instantaneous.

That’s my guess is that it imploded and what a shitty way to go. Hope they find them safe and I’m wrong….

Wouldn't have felt a thing, they wouldn't have even known something went wrong. But still a terrifying way to go just reading it.

another thing to think about is at that pressure a pin hole leak would be just like a 5000psi pressure washer put your hand on it and it would go right through plus the 24 degree water should quickly turn to ice in the reduced pressure inside the sub

Still slight chance could end well. If the damage described you would think there would be debris on surface by now.

The debris would have been incinerated, at least inside the submersible

What makes you feel, if something tragic happened that any debris would Float Up?

When I was watching news earlier they said they had 60 more hours of oxygen left so thinking good till around Wed pm they run out if sub hasn't broken apart. scientist that handles these things for many years suggested they may have gotten caught in fishing nets.

If it was prop fouled, or otherwise caught up in a fishing net, how deep would something like that occur? Then, would it struggle to maintain neutral buoyancy, or sink? Also curious as to how far sonar type waves can travel, and if the water pressure itself would effect it at those depths.

Not sure if this guy is legit or not, but I have been reading what he says on twitter about this situation.

Regardless of the outcome, it blows my mind that people would pay 250k let alone go for free to get in this thing and travel to the bottom of the ocean knowing that it was built with random parts from "Camping World" and "off the shelf" components being controlled by a game controller, the valves even marked with tape and a sharpie. In the video the builder was actually laughing at how the thing was slapped together. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

My Boat partners son is Aviation in the CG stationed in S. Carolina and is up for the 3rd time (two times yesterday) this morning searching for survivors.

They are grid pattern searching currently so its not looking good.

If recovered they are likely to find their complete bodies inside their own hat.

It weighs 23,000 lbs, unless it breaks apart, whatever is in it, stays in it on the bottom of the ocean forever. Fish food......

I’ve been on an unforgettable ocean adventure on a submarine named the USS Nautilus operated by Nautical Exploration and Marine Observation Institute (N.E.M.O.). Once as a kid we ventured 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and again as an adult diving in the deep to find a missing clown fish. The cost of my ticket was cheaper than this current adventure but living in SoCal and getting the SoCal resident discount made it possible.

I kind of know how these people feel being inside that steel coffin.

Wife and I did an Atlantis Submarine in Kona to around 100', that was really cool 👍

You realize that my captin was Mickey Mouse.
Yes, being an area resident I dived to the depths on the Nautilus as a child when it was new attraction. Years later I worked with an older Journeyman Electrician who held a rating as an underwater electrician and had done worked at the dangerous depths that sub descended to. 😁;)
I was however surprised that the IBEW made the contractor use sparkys with an underwater rating and their higher respective pay grade when the water was barely hip deep if that. 🤣

He'd also shared he'd also served in the navy as a submariner and diver. One day I went to the gym with him, heading to the showers following our workout, imagine my surprise and shock at noticing each hairy ass check was covered by a propellor tattoo
I declined the offer for the hot tub. 👎

This seems like a better option for that sub experiance. 100' is a good depth with ocean life being in your porthole. Plus, you can survive if there is a problem at that depth.

Just thinking out loud……….

I wonder how much longer the air would last if I were to euthanize my other 4 passengers?

Desperate times call for desperate measures! Lol

I am thinking the air would now last 4 times longer.

Look how tight that seating arrangement is. One person panics and they’d be snuffed out immediately.
