Great idea, Wild Bill & War Canoe will help get u dialed in. I have 31 5 blade Dewald, 31 4 blade hydromotive, & 32 4 blade bravo, all drilled for outboards. You are welcome to try any if u like.
That would be great! Are you going to be out this weekend?

While I would much rather see a 914/6, the power to weight ratio on that has to be a gas.

This was Scott's personal car with all his upgrades. 930 transaxle, suspension, brakes, full cage...
Had a SBC in it when I got it. I had the LS3-525 all aluminum motor installed which is lighter than a Porsche 6.

Did it used to be orange?

That was his 1st build, I helped him with it and lined him up with a local engine builder who built the original small block for him. I think he purchased Renegade shortly after that and ended up moving to Vegas. That car hauled ass back in the day and I am sure it still does!

Scott was a great dude and would do just about anything for anyone.

I think there is someone here on RDP who works for him- having a brain fat and can't remember who.

My buddy Brien Metcalf is in town...

He campaigned “Physi-Cole Attraction “ ....a badass whip! We are hitting the lake. Brien also was crew chief of “Problem Child” (TFH)
I was at Red Bluff with the Problem Child team when Darryl crashed ...Scary moment.

Ran around the Delta today with a hydromotive 14.6x31 4 blade I borrowed from lake p.a.l. Put me on the limiter at 82mph. Id even say the low end/mid range was worse than the 15.25x34 Max5 I had on before. I did have an extra 75lbs of pooch ballast today.

Let’s see...if you were to go straight ahead as your boat is pointed, you’d be at Paradise Point Marina in 2 minutes...correct??!!!!
Nope! That was right inside the 5mph zone in Indian Slough on the way to Orwood.

I’m going to see if Bully will lend us a 35-36 pitch blade. We can never try too many blades.
I think the problem your having with your new 300 4 stroke can't be fixed with more pitch. Your prop slip has to be addressed. At 6400 and a 31.5 pitch you should be at 98 to 99 mph even with 9% slip. Your slip number is around 25%. When you find the right setup and a prop that works on your setup. A 30 to 32 should put you at 100 plus mph in my opinion.

I think youre on the right track here. Also, the traditional props used on the Hi-Po 2 strokes may not be right on this 300R due to the increased torque the engine produces and I'm sure it has a pretty different power curve (both HP and TQ). Tge traditional 3 blade or smaller blade 4 blade might be too little of blade surface area for the new motor. I think working with Bully may be the best bet to get ahold of the correct props to try for this application.

yep. It was this same boat. The high dollar CNC prop was a 34x15.25 5 blade cleaver. That got this boat to 106 @ 6300rpm The prop I have now is the Mercury Max5 34x15 5 blade. With that prop Randy went 102 @ 6150 rpm. The fastest I have had the boat to was ~92ish @ ~5700rpm. The boat felt solid at that speed and certainly had more in it. I literally touched 92 and backed off. As I get more time in the boat with a little less traffic on the water I'll get a chance to see how fast it will be with just my fat ass in the drivers seat.

Couple other props Randy had on it during testing:

Drag 5 30x14.5...........90mph on the limiter
Spinelli DR4 32x14.5....88 on the limiter

Companies have had years to test and build props for 2-strokes. These big 4-strokes are new and until there are enough numbers of them out there we may not see much in the way of affordable props that work on these motors.

I’m the one who got Randy that 34 cleaver and all of my best results come running mercs 5 blade cleavers. To me they’re worth the investment.

the give away is mt diablo in the background, as long as you can see that you can always find your way back to the ramp....:) (orwood)
Unless you try to go south outta Frank's Tract, down thru the entire 5mph zone, and run into the dead end!!! I learned this the long hard way right after we moved here. It was a long 5mph back outta there.

Small world! Randy had told me you guys had stopped by his place a while back. Im interested in the differences between the prop choices of 400r guys and 300r guys. Same gear ratio and case, but torque/hp curve way different im sure. I hear that there is a 22 Talon running around the Delta with a 400r running a 32x15.25 Bravo and seeing 108mph with 3 people in the boat. Hell...figuring out all these things is half the fun right??

edit: Bully, do you recall how high your 400r was in that Talon you had for a hot minute? What prop were you running on it?
