Thank you very much for your insight and real world testing/driving experiences. I fully agree the Nordic is waaaaayyyy more user friendly in every single pleasure boat use and the Skater is a race boat tamed down for limited pleasure use. Bully, I can't wait to get you up to the SF Bay and Delta sometime so we can run thru some BIG water in a 28 and 30 Skater. Our one buddy with a 28 Nordic up here won't run salt water but in the cruiser waves in the Delta he can't hang with any of the 28 Skater's all powered the same. I'm not trying to pick a fight, just my real world experiences. His 28 Nordic is a gorgeous boat and is perfect for the Delta. Hope to see you soon.
Both are great boats. Just comes down to personal preference. And fitting the application. Jay in Florida and I prefer the SS. Again we are only pleasure boating with family , rafts, noodles, ice chests, and he has small kids. We don’t race or do poker runs ( I only poach them with the reverend on board ) ( he is boating intercostal / bays in the keys and I’m only on lakes, neither of us are running in the open ocean. Jay does a little but not much ) Not to say a Skater will never be in our collection again. I’ve learned never say never.
Again BOTH ARE GREAT BOATS. Just very different.

Can’t forget price either, pretty sure a 30 Skater with 400s will cost quite a bit more...from what I’ve seen the east coast tunnels are in the 300k all the way to 400k range.
Apples and oranges at that point.

With all of that said...I can’t wait to see Dale’s boat done....I’m sure it’ll be amazing!!!

Talon should be shipping to KMG for interior in 2 weeks or less. I’m looking forward to having it finished.

Rev, Bully, his buddy, on my 308 Skater this coming Sat. Hope to have a few other twin outboards join us for a run to SF Bay if the fog permits. If not we will go tear up the Delta.

Let’s see, multiple Skaters and my crazy friends in the Delta?? Helmets Required!

I’m tempted to pray for smooth water and take the DBR...I can see that might add some spice to the mix!

Supposed to be 6-8mph winds for San Pablo Bay which means it will be between a ripple and 3' wind chop depending on tide and how far off the forecast is. If you drag it down here and can't or don't want to run it, you know there is plenty of room in front of my house to leave it while we go run the bigger boats.

Rev, you could drag your Cougar down here, ride in the bigger boats on Saturday then run the Cougar in the Delta on Sunday. Just sayin..........
Always a spare bedroom at my house if you want to spend the night.

As of right now it looks like just F14 in his 28 and our 308 going out tomorrow. Weather looks like it will be clear and mostly sunny but only +/- 60 degrees. We will layer up and have a great day with friends on the water. Launch B&W, hit Sam's in Tiburon for brunch, out under the Golden Gate, past Alcatraz to McCovey Cove, maybe hit Oakland Estuary, then start to make our way back to the fresh water of the Delta, possibly run up the Petaluma River then back to B&W. Probably be at least 140+ miles roundtrip.

We had a fantastic day with our boating brothers. Both boats did a great job thru some nasty water.

The 28 had some significant air time. We didn't get pics of the snot. My 308 aired the props a few times. We thought about turning back at the 680 bridge when we had been battling legit 4-5' chop for several miles. Thankfully we pushed thru and had a great day.

Perfect day, we had a lot of ulgy and also a bit of perfect water, Thanks to Rob and Brian for sharing their rides as well as paying for all the fuel. You both have some very nice boats. I loved the whole trip. Also thanks to Steve, I didn't learn until my trip home that you comped lunch at Sam's. It was a great time with a bunch of great guys.

Taking my awesome wife out in the Skater today to teach her how to drive it. Launch in Benicia, she will drive 30+ miles to Rusty Porthole to meet friends. She wants to practice around the docks if they are wide open and get a better feel for the boat at speed. She's driven it twice but today will get her quite a bit more seat time. I'm proud that she's wanting to learn this boat.

I'm an idiot and forgot to get pics of my wife driving. She did great and we had a spectacular day. Highly recommend Steamboat Landing for lunch or dinner by car or boat, 3-4 miles north of Walnut Grove right on the Sacramento River.
Rev, hope you and the boys will make it to the Delta for our Jon Bloom run and St Patties run.

We met great friends at Porthole and rode with them on their Hallett 240. They had never been thru Steamboat Slough or Georgianna Slough so it was cool to show them around.
