The yellow one with twins is Mike Mullins boat and the first one he built. Green and White is the Jag V12 powered race boat. ET 80 is hanging upside down in a restaurant in FL. The last is the program from the 88 Enduro.

They have dredged the channel but you HAVE to stay in the channel getting over there or it gets real shallow quickly. Hope it didn't hurt the boat.

Is anyone in the Church running the Enduro? I would LOVE to run that someday. I've been there as a spectator several times but never participated in any way.

Team L3 will be running the 312 and 307 Stokers in the race.

This one was built by Wilkes. You can tell the Wilkes boats from the original Speed & Marine Silverwing's by a small notch step at the back of the hulls. Wilkes added these to the molds. Mike Mullens at Mirage has the molds now and is building them vacuum bagged and is getting some ridiculous numbers. The new hulls weigh less than 850 lbs. A single Merc 300 ran over 115 mph and twin drags ran just south of 150! I know of 2 that have come out of the molds so far. A yellow one that I believe Mike kept with twins and an all white one with a 300 on it that should be cruising around the river this summer.

I talked to the seller on yours. I believe it was the only one set up with metal stringers. Make sure to do a build thread so that we can see what this thing turns into. I think twin 280's or a single 300 would be the way to go as the 400R is going to be too heavy if you go the outboard route. This one is all put together for a nice twin turbo motor and would fly. Nothing accelerates like a Silverwing. They pack air fast and they turn at speeds that defy logic. Or you could build my dream boat and throw a turbine in it. Be careful and spend some time talking to current and former owners about how to drive it properly as they are a unique extremely fast hull. Beautiful boat and congrats on the purchase.

Yeah man, Turbine would be sweet!
For now I want to take my time and do it right, ask anyone I don't do halfassed anything, this one will be sick i can promise you.

The Verado 400 is 660 pounds, it's lighter than twins and way lighter than a big block outdrive setup.

With a true 400hp to the water I would bet money it would be no slouch. I could also hang my DBR 360+hp 15" Merc on the ass end. I'm sure this hull will be a blast to drive no matter the setup.

May not have this right but I believe Mitch Lempkey, (spelling) drove the number 79, we ran Mod VP during the 80's. Boat must have run in the upper teens, we ran 96-99 all day and he passed us like we were parked!! The roost from that boat was brutal, ice cube size water droplets hurt even to a 20 something. You learned real quick to stay wide when he went bye. Motor made an unmistakable exhaust noise, you could hear him coming over the noise of a 2 stroke at 7 grand.

Mitch (Lembke) set a ET Kilo record somewhere right around 135 mph. I will have to look at the plaque and check the exact speed. There were two boats the second one did a pass somewhere around 147 with a 600 horse big block. Here's a video of the second boat at the 88 enduro:

It will be a sick ride no matter what goes in it. I'm always stoked when I see one on the water.

I believe he does. The F1 champ motors are really the best motors for this boat if you can find them and afford the rebuilds. Twins are 550 lbs of motor putting out 600+ hp. Nothing like spinning up to 9k RPM.

Last time I was up there he still had the boat...John did some motors for me back in the day that all I can say is wow. He is a very talented man. The power he made was incredible.
Wish he did the 300xs.

We didn't make it to Freeport yesterday because we had a clogged water line. Church Dog to the rescue and made the best of the day that we could. Lunch at Garlic Bros was fantastic. Ran with a few friends.

It's a lil easier to go boating all the time when we were not blessed with children. Our 2 dogs get pissed when we are gone for a day on the Skater but they get out on our cabin cruiser quite a bit.

The number of twin engine cats in our group is really growing this summer. Is Scotty going to step up soon?

One fine day I will make the plunge. My singles are so easy for the lake...the Daytona is the perfect daily runner. It will actually go through some rough water with decent results. The mileage with the 250XS is so good too!

The 21' Cougar is special treat to drive...accelerates like crazy...serious top end, for a 21' boat.

I do need a big water boat... Actually looked into a 30' - 36' Concept center consol with twin Mercs. The price held me back!

I need to move next to my buddies in the bay to really justify a big water rig. Do you guys know a good realtor? :champagne:

Rev, you just need a good friend in the Bay area to step up and buy a big center console. Can't imagine you are moving out of your compound at Oroville.
When are we going to Powell or Havasu and run some big miles with Bully?

Cool pic, are the underwater lights legal to run at night while underway?

There not illegal as long as they don't obscure or detract from the visibility of the navigation lights. That goes for any lights used when your navigating at night.

I do believe Boatcop has said on several occasion that blue lights are in fact illegal on a boat in any condition. The letter of the law and the enforcement of said law are 2 different things though.

Blue strobe lights are unless your law enforcement.
I'm too lazy to actually look up the regulations.

Only got a few. I was busy driving. We ran 150+ miles yesterday. Went thru Rio Vista on the way home to skip some 5 mph zones. It was a great day, lunch at Virgin Sturgeon was fantastic. 27 Daytona, 28 Skater, and our 308 Skater all with 300XS. Yes, ours is the slowest of the 3 but I really don't care.

Me too. I'm honestly over inboards and all the problems that go with them. Not that outboards can't break also. But they are ten time more reliable imo and more fuel efficient.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The Church gets bigger everyday! :D

This shot is Kevin Kraft at Camp Far West , putting it down on a blown alcohol jet...look at the Alky boats passenger ....begging for more speed!! Whacker Smacker strikes again!

I use less fuel running (2) 300XS on our 308 Skater than I did in my BBC naturally aspirated 25 Daytona. I can cruise all day at 75mph and never worry about oil getting too hot, header connectors failing and spraying down the motor, or any of the other bullshit that goes along with big blocks. Sometimes I miss the sound of them but that's really all that I miss.
