She's a beauty for sure. What's the best top end on that package?

Best speed was 82 mph with 250Xs ...88 mph with 300Xs, 85 mph with 275 Verado.

Decided to make it a family boat and a kid hauler, so I propped it down to a 22. It now does just under 70 mph, but it will take a boat full of people , fuel, ice chest, and still be able to wakeboard or tube. I like it better this way. The addition of the overhead Bimini top has made the boat much cooler with the added shade. I have about 2000 hours on this boat and really enjoy using it. It really does it all. This is the high performance 250XS that spins 6350 rpm as opposed to the 5900 rpm model. I got the engine from Wild Bill. He had it on his Allison. His best speed was 102 mph with this engine.

Rev, let me know when you guys are getting back out on the Delta. I'm storing our tank on the lift at Church Dog's house for a few months and I can get out and meet you, or just hop in with one of you guys and I'll buy lunch. Wife, me and our 2 dogs are camping on the Sac River tomorrow on our Mariah if anyone is going to be out.

BAM!

Been wanting a silverwing ever since I can remember, they don't come up for sale too often and for sure they are not for the average boater.

I'm in love with this thing already and have plans to restore it to top condition!

Saw that for sale, very unique, Jim Wilkes made those in Santa Ana didn't he? I remember some with twin outboards that were just stupid fast.

Hey War Canoe
Blow It Up reporting to Church! Been lurking on here a while. Previously a jet guy. Converted to Outboard last year and love it.
They are great dogs with family. Not real good with anything except immediate family. Very protective and great for a large property guard dog. This is Zeta a 120lbs Cane Corso. She came from 2010 and 2009 UKC Grand World Champions that where breed. Rapido was the male and Cleopatra was the female. I loved this dog. I recently lost her due to health issues at 5 1/2 years old. These dogs are amazing. They require a lot of attention and plenty of space to run.

I appreciate the insight into owning a Cane Corso...your dog was a specimen!! I'm so sorry she passed early. I am in touch with two breeders now. very excited!

I have a good friend that breeds corsos. If it doesn't work out, I can make an introduction if you wish.

I bought this without power. Not yet sure what I want to do with it. I've seen the twin outboard rigged ripping on the river. Was pretty bad ass.
But I'm a purest when it comes to boats ant their original design, I'm thinking of keeping the #5 SSM and building a twin turbo all aluminum BBC.

Also thinking about twin O/B's as well...

It's a blank canvas for now, could also do a normally aspirated BBC and be done with it...

Either way it's gonna be a fun ride!

This boat reminds me of a 40% Scale Extra 300 I built back in 2005, it was a bad ass RC Plane! I wish I never sold that one.

WC, just let me know when you want to get out again. We have been up the Petaluma River several times now and its a great run. Any one of your hot rods would love that trip. The turning basin has great docks but a lil shallow at low tide so trim up. The river from the Bay to downtown Petaluma is a twisty blast and the water is always flat. We have had great food at a few spots within walking distance of the docks.

I'd really like to do the Petaluma run...last time I was at the mouth of the river, my brother ran us a ground in the shallow water. Sat there until the tide reversed many hours later!

They have dredged the channel but you HAVE to stay in the channel getting over there or it gets real shallow quickly. Hope it didn't hurt the boat.

Is anyone in the Church running the Enduro? I would LOVE to run that someday. I've been there as a spectator several times but never participated in any way.

Which boat? Is your outboard allowed or the organizers too afraid an outboard would win the overall again this year?

If they are afraid of the DBR's .... Imagine the opinion of the Silverwing!! :yikes

This one was built by Wilkes. You can tell the Wilkes boats from the original Speed & Marine Silverwing's by a small notch step at the back of the hulls. Wilkes added these to the molds. Mike Mullens at Mirage has the molds now and is building them vacuum bagged and is getting some ridiculous numbers. The new hulls weigh less than 850 lbs. A single Merc 300 ran over 115 mph and twin drags ran just south of 150! I know of 2 that have come out of the molds so far. A yellow one that I believe Mike kept with twins and an all white one with a 300 on it that should be cruising around the river this summer.

I talked to the seller on yours. I believe it was the only one set up with metal stringers. Make sure to do a build thread so that we can see what this thing turns into. I think twin 280's or a single 300 would be the way to go as the 400R is going to be too heavy if you go the outboard route. This one is all put together for a nice twin turbo motor and would fly. Nothing accelerates like a Silverwing. They pack air fast and they turn at speeds that defy logic. Or you could build my dream boat and throw a turbine in it. Be careful and spend some time talking to current and former owners about how to drive it properly as they are a unique extremely fast hull. Beautiful boat and congrats on the purchase.

Last I checked a couple of years ago they wouldn't let a full tunnel in the enduro. Shame I would love to see a Silverwing take the flag again.
