@shintoooo If we could get a thread titled update, that would be great.
How long do you want your next yacht to be Mr. Union Boss, we want the credit for resolving this.Just what do you think was said on that call?
Longshore utilize 3 shifts and cover operations 24 hours a day. 1st shift- 8 am to 5pm. 2nd shift- 5pm to 3pm 3rd shift 3am to 8am. The 3rd shift is rarely worked. 1st and 2nd are worked almost everyday of the year, there’s maybe 3 or 4 no work holidays. Longshoremen are assigned a shift, usually 1st or 2nd. If there is an abundance of work, you can return to the dispatch hall and pick up a job on your unassigned shift. Some pretty much work 16 hours per day. That’s how $39per hour can turn into $160k plus per year.Just saw that Max wage was 39 an hour under the old agreement that just expired. How the hell do 1/3 of the workers make over 200k a year with a max base rate of 39 an hour? How much overtime are these guys working?
I believe that is the 90 day cooling off period the head of the union described. If this was forced from Biden, most likely the dock workers will still be on the job, but work at a snails pace. Time will tell where we stand.Foxnews is saying the dockworkers agreed to suspend the strike until Jan 15.
They agreed to a 61.5% wage increase over 6 yeas. The rest of the issues are tabled until 1/15/25.I believe that is the 90 day cooling off period the head of the union described. Couldn't find any ILA members that could spell "prolongate"?Curious what caused them to concede to a cooling period.
