That’s pricey
That does not sound that bad IMO.We are about $3300 in with the gel coat repair. It needs to be fixed before it’s back out on the water. We will do the keel later on.
As far as the engine, no news yet. Will have news in a few days. They are slammed. But, we are hopeful that it is minor.
It’s looking promising to have the boat back soon as long as it’s minor issue.

Its maintenance.

Not sure yet. It started on the trailer after he messed with the fuel separator and fuel lines. He is hoping it was just something in the lines. We ran our tank really low last season as our selector switch died on a trip. What’s up with the engine?
That is correct.Maybe the keel every few years from beaching.. but dings in a boat isn’t maintenance.
Can't you manually switch the selector over to the other tank? Not sure yet. It started on the trailer after he messed with the fuel separator and fuel lines. He is hoping it was just something in the lines. We ran our tank really low last season as our selector switch died on a trip.
Hoping we find out in the next few days. They were trying to get our boat back before memorial weekend. But, it’s a busy time at the mechanic shop.
Gel coat is done. Absolute said they just put the boat back on the trailer and it looks really good. We are heading up to havasu tonight so we will see it tomorrow. They are going to try to diagnose the engine now. Hopefully it’s minor and we can get it back tomorrow.
Our switch doesn’t have a manual feature. So, we ran on one tank for 2 trips. We got that fixed in the off season. Can't you manually switch the selector over to the other tank?
You may have "debris" in the tank that got stuck in the lines. Or there may have been bad fuel left over in the tank?
Be careful at Parker oil. Their pumps are mislabeled. Our switch doesn’t have a manual feature. So, we ran on one tank for 2 trips. We got that fixed in the off season.
That’s what Robert is thinking happened. Something in the fuel lines. We used non ethanol from Parker oil. We probably had about 5 gallons left in each tank on the offseason. We filled up the boat in late April- non enthanol. We thought maybe bad gas, but when we put it in the water bottle, it didn’t appear to be bad gas. Fuel lines seem like the cheapest fix…
Great news and one step closer. Hoping for a simple issue on the engine.Gel coat is done. Absolute said they just put the boat back on the trailer and it looks really good. Care to elaborate? I’m about to fill the boat up on Saturday. What should I look for? I’m getting 91 NE.Be careful at Parker oil. Their pumps are mislabeled.
I was filling up my truck with diesel before leaving town and my first time buying fuel there. Looked at a pump with a non ethonal fuel label and noticed the price was way better than Campbell Cove. I was about to go grab the boat and top off the fiberglass tanks... I take a closer look and realize the labels are screwed up and would've pumped ethonal fuel into the boat from the non ethonal labeled pump. So now I go back to my truck to check that the fuel thats being pumped in is diesel, it was. As I'm leaving town I realized I paid $.30 more a gallon for diesel at Parker Oil than if I just went to a Circle K.Care to elaborate? I’m about to fill the boat up on Saturday. So this is Parker Oil in Havasu then. I use the one in Parker but I’ll still keep an eye out as I haven’t been there since they got Marathon’d and maybe they’ve changed something (besides getting rid of the 100LL).I was filling up my truck with diesel before leaving town and my first time buying fuel there. My experience was with the Havasu location. So this is Parker Oil in Havasu then. I use the one in Parker but I’ll still keep an eye out as I haven’t been there since they got Marathon’d and maybe they’ve changed something (besides getting rid of the 100LL).
If I’m up in havasu I use Campbell Cove.
And that's how you fix a problem and ready for the next adventure! Nicely Done!
My credit card got compromised there last year as well. I gave it to the attendant in the shack. They tried to order Uber Eats that night. Clown BehaviorBe careful at Parker oil. Their pumps are mislabeled.

Let’s try this again… View attachment 1378473
They changed the plugs and saw a “flap” in the fuel lines.Nice, I really like the colors. So what was the issue with the motor? Fuel lines?
It looks beautiful again, and up and running on the water. That's a real good start for the weekend!

Profit is Profit. Remember though the Short Terms Gain taxes, but if you need it, take it!was going to update this in the memorial thread, but I’ll update it in here. Memorial weekend- the boat ran fine on the test drive and made it from jack smith to the springs before it died again.
The fuel pump went out. It was a mechanical one and they just had to add that on with a new impeller. They took it for a test drive and there is a leak in the seal. They tried to tighten it up, and that didn’t work. So, they said it should be fine short term, but the seal needs to be replaced. Which is not an easy task for such a cheap part. I believe it requires pulling the engine and the drive..They are going to try to get it done by Thursday night so we can use it on Father’s Day weekend.
I’m really thinking of selling the few Nvidia stocks I own at this point, it’ll pay off all the boat repairs… but I’ll probably regret that too.
Yep, I am considering it. With the short term gain tax, it would be like none of this even happened. Robert has picked up a lot of OT. It’s summer and he’s in the commercial refrigeration field so that will help a lot. So we see what’s best when this boat bill comes on Friday.Profit is Profit. Remember though the Short Terms Gain taxes, but if you need it, take it!
In crypto we say that without skimming profits, its just a number on paper.
Get in on some PLTR, thats what i HOPE will be something to hold long term.
If you talking about the transom seal the only way to permanently fix is remove engine. But you can put a thin bead of silicone around it to stop it for the rest of the season. I have done both on my lsst boat.was going to update this in the memorial thread, but I’ll update it in here. Yep, that’s the one. Absolute is hoping to get it done before Friday. If not, they said we will be ok. It is a steady leak. We have a back up bilge pump as well. Really hoping they have time so we don’t have to drop it off again at the end of the weekend. I’ll ask about the silicone if they can’t get it done. Thanks! If you tslking about the transom seal the only way to permanently fix is remove engine. But you can put a thin bead of silicone aroind it to stop it for the rest of the season. Glad to hear nothing happened to your friends boat. It definitely isn’t a fun ride hearing your boat crunch. We learned to have our anchor ready, we still aren’t sure if it would have helped the initial hit in our situation, but it would have kept the boat stationary after that and then Robert could have balanced better on the shoreline instead of the boat spinning down.Kinda random but I want to say thank you for posting this thread.
Buddy ran his boat out of fuel(tank switch is flipped) and it took us a few mins to figure it out. I thought about dropping anchor a lot faster than I believe I would have if not for seeing this thread. Could have ended up on the rocks(75’ away, wind blowing us in).
Glad you guys are back on the water too!
Over time the hull thickness shrinks and it happens at the transom causing a gap. Tighten the bolts and it will shrink up the gap and slow down or stop the leak.If you talking about the transom seal the only way to permanently fix is remove engine. I’d pull it every night for the 5 mins it takes it’s worth it.Well they didn’t have time to pull the engine to fix the seal. We have to drop the boat back off on Sunday. They said it would be ok for the weekend, but there is a steady leak. We will see how often the bilge pump works to see if we are going to keep it in the water overnight. We also have a back up bilge pump with a long hose and alligator clips on the boat.
My dad’s boat had a similar problem a few years back. We would go to the marina after dinner and drain the boat. Then, whoever was last to sleep and first up in the morning would also go to the marina and drain the boat. His float switch was stuck so it wouldn’t turn on until you activated the switch. We made it the weekend, but it was a little sketchy. Robert is the paranoid type and I’m not sure he would sleep at night if it was a leak like that…
All our recent trips seem sketchy and I can’t wait for this to be behind us. We will keep trying to boat…
They did tighten the bolts, and when they water tested it, there still was a steady leak. Hopefully it slowed it down from when Robert noticed it.Over time the hull thickness shrinks and it happens at the transom causing a gap. Tighten the bolts and it will shrink up the gap and slow down or stop the leak.
That is most likely what will end up happening. We did get a slip for the weekend so if the line is crazy, we can just pull it after dinner.I’d pull it every night for the 5 mins it takes it’s worth it.
