On the water, first few laps, as Robert described it”the boat has no balls” it would plane, but not take off like it use to. After a few more laps, it is getting back to normal…

Steering feels tighter and we bled the lines with the new ram.. hoping it continues to improve… heading to topock for breakfast.

Did you hit the rock bar or have motor issues and floated into it?

Sorry for your luck..

We don’t want to look at the boat when we put it on the trailer. Need something stronger than these Red Bulls c but it always could be worse. It’s still a nice sunny day. And we are currently saving on gas…

Hard to look at….
Boat wouldn’t fire after it died with starting fluid on the water. It’s in front of the house now, he pulled a plug and it sparked.

Called absolute and they told us to bring it on by to drop in their yard.

We got non ethanol at Parker oil in havasu a few weeks ago.

Hoping the boat is structurally sound to at least run this summer and fix the gel coat repairs in the winter. Don’t know how busy the gel repair shops are… I think absolute has an in shop guy now.

Once the boat died, Robert got out and tried to save it. He wouldn’t let me get in the water to help, it came to a point he just was getting beat up on the rocks and struggling. He decided to say f it and let it go. Nothing we could do…

He’s a little beat up

Dang it. I have had those kind of trips also.

It actually got me a little burnt out on the river. My last 4 times out were little things that just sucked up a day and Im like, this is getting old!

Good luck on the repairs and try not to stress on it too much. I know its easier said then done!

Took off fuel separator and poured it in a bottle. No water in fuel. Fuel separator was only halfway full. Removed line between inline filter and separator, fuel started gushing out of the inline filter.. reattached and now fuel is coming out of separator full. Boat now starts…

Right. We actually are laughing, but hurting a little bit inside. We are just hoping it’s cosmetic as for as gel coat. He may have figured out the issue. Last season we had a tank down and we ran it pretty low. Thinks maybe something got trapped in the lines…

Thanks guys. Going to head back and sit on the beach and enjoy the rest of the day.

Just dropped it off at absolute and they are going to put it in the yard later today. Super nice people.

Dang really sorry this happened to you guys but thankfully sounds like neither of you got hurt 👍🏻. That last picture shows unfortunately it’s not just through the gel coat but there is fiberglass cloth showing. You could run it this weekend and enjoy yourselves but I definitely wouldn’t wait until end of summer to repair. You run the risk of the cloth becoming water saturated and could potentially lead to delaminating. Howard builds an awesome boat and yours is extremely nice, would hate to see your problems magnified.

it definitely was one of those things that the more we looked at it, the worse it looked. definitely sad. money will fix it and it’s a hell lot of harder to fix a body. It sucks knowing we just passed the beach section.

Hopefully gel coat lead times aren’t horrible… Memorial weekend isn’t looking promising at all.

My last trip was without a boat. Just hung out on the beach at the Marina Resort in Needles, very relaxing trip.

Out of curiosity and anxiety…

Once a shop can get you in to fix gel coat, how long does that process take and what approx cost are we looking at for anyone that has done gel coat repairs?

That should be just a few days. Easy easy. Hard to tell how much but I’d guess $1000?

Edit- on further review I agree with the guys below :/

I’m thinking closer to 1500$ but usually 2-3 days. Lots of gel coat shops in town

Saleen
Ron’s
Advantage boats
Superior fiberglass
And more

I’d say once you are on someone’s schedule about a week to repair as it’s not into any colors/fades/stripes. Cost I’d say $2000-2500 because there is cloth work involved not just gel.

Absolute said they have the boat safely in the yard now and they will have the gel coat guy look at it as well.

File an insurance claim.
I had similar damage due to a storm. 3-4 weeks for gel repair and 15k.
I would look into it. I had some issues that I thought was just cosmetic that the insurance took care. Once back on the water there was a few mechanical issues that popped up. Insurance paid for those repairs also.

Yes, my dad’s house is in havasu. Robert’s (husband) mom’s house is on the needles river. Spoiled for sure.

I think @Bigbore500r is a few homes up from us.
One of my favorite spots on the river. There was a home for sale in there for quite awhile. Can’t tell you how many times i looked at it. It was before all the docks went in.

I had no idea this stretch of water was here until I met Robert 5 years ago. It is now one of my favorite places to be. Very peaceful. I even like the cold water. It feels refreshing to me and my body feels a lot better.
