The problem is nobody is stupid enough to put a quad rotor'd motor in a 21 RT because 21 RT's aren't worth anything and there have been quite a few people crash in them.
Doesn't need to be stupid power,just 500hp's or equal whackers,hell 496 mags.

video I posted is Equal power, Schiada in closest had a bigger blower, both 502's with aluminum heads, Stoker had a 177 and the Schiada had a 250 series blower shop blower. Stoker had him beat several times but not by much:cool

I think 2forcefull had a RT with a 500hp? I have heard mixed things in regards to the river tunnels. Some say they are dangerous and some say they are fine. Had a very close friend in a really bad accident in one that had decent power. after that incident, I'm Leary of them but have never personally been in or driven one. Been in plenty of cruisers though and will add a v drive with a "little" power to the stable one of these days. Power to power a mod vp will be faster than a standard v though. Funny thing is I spend more time in the wakeboard boat than anything nowadays. Big stereo and plenty of room for people.

Wakeboard boats rule ;)

Crashing is for idiots that don't know how to use tunnel tabs..

All of the RT incidents I have heard about were blamed on some malfunction with the adjustable tabs either mechanical failure or user error. Personally I would not get in one, its all good until its not. The 224's are badass and it seems the big power ones are treated with respect and maybe a healthy dose of fear as all boats pushing the threshold should be. That being said the only fast boat I have ever truly felt comfortable in was the SR22.

Really? The F29 was like riding in a Cadillac.

At a certain speed air entrapment just does not sit well with me, that being said clipping 100 in your F29 was a walk in the park. Bump it up into the 130mph+ mark and ol WW will start getting a little nervous. You run the big cats fast enough (to the threshold) and all bets are off. The SR22 is definitely the most fun smallish fast boat I have ever been on and felt safe about. Partially its because I know how meticulous Racey is with his craft and that no expense has been spared on that boat nor any detail overlooked. Ive been on the SR22 through 2'+ blown out parker slop well north of 100 and felt fine sitting backwards LOL

Not tryin to bag on you at all Steve, but there isnt a Stoker made that wont go 90 right outa the box. Might have to pull the rev limiter off an Evenrude OB, but thats about it.

But here is the main thing everyone reading this needs to know...

They take some serious seat time to learn how to drive one. And then, when you think your totally bad ass, Al Stoker will jump in your boat, and drive it faster than you ever could. They are amazing hulls IF you know how to drive one. Even in rough water, they will rule. It just depends who is behind the wheel. Us mere motals will never push one to the limit like Al can. :thumbsup

In a 20, they are an E ticket in the 90's. In a 22, they feel rock solid at 100. I've never been faster than that in one, but I'm sure there are people on this board that have.

To try and compare one to a Schiada is just silly, but it gives Tyro a new fishing hole! :D

So I guess all that's left is a square up. Stoker and Schiada same power/drive set up. Ideal conditions( not rough water) up river. Only fair this gets settled.

Ideal for both hulls would be 1ft chop right? For all out top speed? That kind of chop that gets air under the hull but not enough to make you need to blast through the wave (schiada) instead of ride on top of it?

So why don't you explain what ideal conditions are? You say rough. But I don't know anyone who will say anything bigger then 2-3ft is ideal for a schiada either. Thy will plow through but definitely don't run their fastest. You keep saying stokers need calm water.....shows you don't know what you're talking about as every stoker i have driven is considerably slower in flat water.

Educate us lay people please. ;)

the only way al could make my stoker go 90 would be to hook it to a duramax...

Oh Billdo.. You want me to say it that bad I'll say it..

Yes you're right a Stoker is faster then a Schiada.

Or we can say

A tunnel hull is faster then a V Bottom.

But at what trade off is the point I bring up..

Which brings me to my next point. Vbottom vs tunnel hull( mod or not still a tunnel hull)

Apples to apples.

Any tunnel hull is going to be faster then a vbottom. So it's not a fair argument.

Right JOE and bill? :D

My money would still be on the stoker. Even with double the HP no schiada has seen the speeds the stoker has run time and time again.

What is the fastest any schiada has ran? I know of a few stokers that run consistently in the high 110s and 120s the same cant be said for a shitada. ;)

Why the disparaging name calling...your mom wants one :skull

Oh and Billdo, how fast as a Schiada been? I'd say approaching 180-190 possibly past 200 with the new Boostpower motor's in Marabella's MTI rigged by SCHIADA.

The hull is an MTI, boat was built by Schiada.. It is a Schiada.

Schiada turns a lot of mere mortal boats into super cape wearing boats.. You should have Stoker give them a call.. Maybe they can fix him up. :D

Dave mentioned this too. I can't say I share this opinion.

If you compare a Stoker, Triad, and Allison, all of similar weight with the same outboard, they are pretty similar. All will do right around 97~100mph with a 225 ProMax.

I'm less familiar with Stoker performance but all three of these hulls can be laid up pretty light and these are among the top performance hulls in this power range. It's a pretty good test bed and I'd say the v-hull holds it's own.

I'd buy a tunnel in a heart beat but I've always found that myth amusing. It's as amusing as the myth that a pad adds 10mph. :D

So what you're saying is....since schiada failed so miserably at making a tunnel with their RT. They had to buy a hull from a proven manufacturer and rig it so their cheerleaders could claim it as a schiada. Makes perfect sense. ;)
