I went to Starlink end of last month, i love it. Idk about Ring but works extremely well with my VIVINT. There’s two port on the back of the new model router for the Ethernet cables as well.
For the 300$ it cost and then 20 minutes to install yourself it’s absolutely worth it imho.

Yes. But you can buy an adapter to bring a hardwire out of it
What do you mean?
I’m actually thinking to finally mount my dish to the house tomorrow, really wish there was a way to add to the cable as I’d really like to move my router into my living room.

How much a month?
120$ a month for no outages and i average 280-340+ mbps

You can get a 2nd starlink router and do wireless mesh.

I use this in my RV. Get any length cat 6 cable and put it where you want.

Yup, second endorsement for Starlink with Ring. Run this setup for Havasu, works just fine.

Would love to go to Starlink but the app says we have too many trees/obstructions for a clean signal. House is pretty much surrounded by trees. (Bang head)

Yes, but if you want any kind of "normal" router features you'll need to add your own. Also, I found that the range of the SL router was poor. Just my experience.

Put the app on your phone and it has a to section to check for obstructions.

2nd gen they offer 75-150’ cables. Current 3rd gen is standard cat 6 with RJ 45 connectors so you can add on with coupler, or buy longer cat 6 shielded cables on Amazon cheap.

That was my experience to, bought a Nighthawk but if I had to do it again I would look for another brand.

How long of a "Starlink" cable do they offer that will support their signal for remote mounting, before alternate means are required ?

I bought a TP-Link mesh system. Tons of features and it works in my shop 300' away. When you have slow internet the speed from the device to the router isn't a big deal, but with Starlink that side has to work well.

I am literally looking at the TP right now and sending a request to our office, I have 2 Nighthawks on the boat and trying to log in and control users has been a nightmare, 3 different passwords and most of the time it won't accept them, I'm done.

I went with XE-75s. They have been rock solid for two years. Kinda pricey, but worth it.

So I'd like to install Starling on my sign truck. I'd like to mount the receiver on the top of the screen, and I'd also like to have an outside or some kinda router to broadcast wifi at events etc.. (a lot of events like Desert Storm / SuperCat etc the internet gets f'd).

So Starlink
Wifi Router (but the computer is in a locked metal box so not sure the wifi will get through?)
Security Cameras

Any thoughts on how to do this? Run some kinda hardwire to the computer from the router? or?

I'd like the ability to stream movies on occasion.. Stream security cameras when the truck is on site.. and broad cast wifi to stream movies in the motorhome etc (camping), provide wifi for point of sale systems at events.

You can use Starlink router for Wi-Fi, hard wire to computer. But if enclosed won’t reach far, so you could use outdoor Access point with Starlink router or 3rd party equipment like Ubiquiti. Not sure about streaming movies on sign truck in public, copyrights and all…

SL antenna to SL router. Turn wifi off on SL router. Hardwire a poe switch to SL router. Use this switch to connect to your computer via ethernet cable. Connect a wifi bridge to another one of the POE switch ports. Install transmitter portion of bridge on outside of truck (these bridges usually have one side that's also a wifi access point - so this is your truck's wifi). Install the bridge reciever in motor home and add another cheap wifi router to it (a travel router will work nicely here).
I'm doing something similar to this.

Dave,
You don't want the router in a metal box, have one made of UHMW or similar material and have Hubbel watertight connectors in the box for cables, works in the Bering Sea in January.

Is that the one you can suspend the service by month?

Ya, just got my notice yesterday.
I got mine yesterday well.
I have to say that after using the roaming dish for the past 2 years on motorhome trips and in Baja, it's been a game changer. I got a $20 attachment to mount it on my truck and it works flawlessly all the way down the Baja peninsula to Cabo, no matter if you're in the mountains, desert, or on some deserted beach. Great for off road race tracking as well as internet phone service wherever you are, it basically turns your phone into a sat phone.
We just received the non-mobile residential dish @ $120/mo for permanent installation at our place at lake mead for cameras and view our weather station when we're not there.

The movies are for my family when we are camping etc.. Might do like a movie thing for the school or something, but it isn't for "commercial" interests or anything of the sort..

Now if I rent it to someone for super bowl or MMA fights.. I'm just renting a truck, what they choose to do with the screen is up to them.. LOL

Lets pretend you are talking to a guy that isn't tech savvy at all.

What is an SL antenna and SL router.. POE ports etc.. you got any links so I can look up the products?

SL = Starlink

POE = power over ethernet

switch = basically a splitter, one port in several ports out

HaHa .. I'm far from a tech savy person compared to others here :)
SL = Starlink antenna and Starlink Router
POE ports at power over ethernet (meaning you don't have to run 2 wires to the bridge units (the power is carries in the ethernet cable)
This is the bridge that can move wifi signal great distances ;

Here's a POE switch that can make things like wired cameras easier to connect into your network.

This is what I use. It works anywhere , just about anytime and completely mobile and portable and wireless or wired, doesn't matter.
I am a little bias though, we make the housings for roamsat !!

If the truck is within 150’ or so of motorhome don’t need all that. Starlink router will cover it. If Starlink router is inside metal box (weatherproof) than just use one access point that is outdoor rated. The current Starlink router has 2 Ethernet Ports use one for laptop, one for A/P. Turn off Wi-Fi on Starlink router, use Wi-Fi from access point. Easy, no switches, no Poe….recommend A/P would be Ubiquiti U6 mesh or U6 pro.
