This is what I use. It works anywhere , just about anytime and completely mobile and portable and wireless or wired, doesn't matter.
I am a little bias though, we make the housings for roamsat !!

Same one we have on the chase truck and one on the race car. The RoamSat set up has been great and the customer service has been great.

So that can be hard wired? Would you wire it into the 12volt on the truck or would you wire it into the 110 when the generator is running?

You can buy an adaptor to wire to 12v. However they suck battery is what I have heard. I am wiring mine to the 110 and with the inverter we have power when needed. Then I will do a on/off toggle switch so I can kill the power when needed. Hardest thing is getting dishey cable from cabinet to roof.

So I’m sitting here thinking about this and on one hand I want it to run on the 110 so it doesn’t drain the truck batteries..

On the other I need the security cameras to run when the generator is off.. so I think I need to go 12 volt and potentially buy some big battle borns or something so the cameras and WiFi run when the truck sits for four or five days?

Solar + batteries + inverter. Just another 1-2k to do it all up correctly.
The Starlink gen 2 dish does not require as many apps as the gen 3.

Either way, comes with a 110 charger or a cord that goes to a 12v lighter port. Works great pretty much anywhere. The new mini starlink is going to be even smaller and more portable, but not as much run time (6-7 hours) and not as good of router. It was mainly for the people who travel and want to be able to take it on a commercial flight, because it has a smaller capacity battery.

So I'd like to install Starling on my sign truck. I'd like to mount the receiver on the top of the screen, and I'd also like to have an outside or some kinda router to broadcast wifi at events etc.. (a lot of events like Desert Storm / SuperCat etc the internet gets f'd).

So Starlink
Wifi Router (but the computer is in a locked metal box so not sure the wifi will get through?)
Security Cameras

Any thoughts on how to do this? Run some kinda hardwire to the computer from the router? or?

I'd like the ability to stream movies on occasion.. Stream security cameras when the truck is on site.. and broad cast wifi to stream movies in the motorhome etc (camping), provide wifi for point of sale systems at events.

Look at the new mini version. My buddy just got one and its badass. Theres a ton of aftermarket stuff for them, Savage UTV makes a badass case for it with an option to have it run on a 18V Milwaukee battery. A lot of the offroad teams are putting the mini on the cars and chase trucks. It's what Star Steam is using for the live in car streaming stuff. You can put a mount on the sign truck and wire it to a power source, unplug it and put it in the MoHo for family trips, the boat, its all in one unit and meant to travel.
