Just got starlink roam Gen 3 for the truck camper and wow,I am impressed. Speed is almost 200 mega bits in my yard. Even when I set it on my porch it still works. Thank you Elon

Its great.
We have it as well. Never had a problem camping in Glamis, Dumont or at the river.
Just used it last week at the house to work when Frontier went down.

I've been waiting to make a Starlink purchase for quite a while, nor have I talked to someone that has it, but only 200mps, really?
When everyone in your camping group signs in how much does it drop?

It is a game changer. Even driving mine down the road and streaming not a single hiccup. Most people I’ve had logged in at one time on it was 12 and still not a single hiccup. StarLink has been impressive.

Do you just have the residential deal or boat, or?

Bought the same unit for Roaming a month or two ago. Works great. Our home comcast service is shitty and expensive. Been running off the Starlink at home for the last few weeks to give it a good trial period. No complaints from the family so yesterday was able to jump on their $250 deal to permanently put one on the house and get rid of comcast. Monthly service is almost half of the comcast.

I bought two of these for our race car and chase team. I didn’t buy it through PCI though but the link is a similar setup. Service is good from Canada to South America. Just don’t have the ocean package.

When not racing I throw it on the motorhome.

I have the Starlink that is a few years old, take it with in moho all over and it works great. Since it is a bit older it is also a bit bulky. We are going on a 3 week cruise next year, is there a new smaller version that I could bring on the cruise and hang out my balcony for service while on cruise?

how much speed do you think you really need? 200 is more than enough.

Lol, streaming HD1080 on Netflix is between 10 and 20 mbps, so that means 10-20 people streaming separate shows in high def.

200mbps is fast AF for most situations.

Not to mention this will work in the absolute middle of nowhere, places where you don't even have cell service.

I have mine on my Oregon trip, plug it in and you are online in 2 or 3 minutes, and it will run off a Milwaukee tool battery

The back pack is nice, hear it is quite pricey?
I really dont want to carry around the current unit I have, hoping they come out with a much smaller system to make carrying/traveling easier.
Think starlink will work off the balcony of a cruise ship?
I have not looked into the cost of onboard internet access yet.

We have one on our shared ownership Houseboat at Powell. I've see as many as 25 logged in at once and it just keeps on trucking.

Probably, it does have to point north, will probably work facing south but may be slower.

The older generator would turn and tilt to line up correctly. I guess the new ones you have to place them in the correct direction

Yes just NE for best reception. You can mount it flat on your vehicle and will work fine.

I bought a gen 3 last month to use on our Lake Powell trip. We ended up using it in Havasu for a month as well while our Optimum (Suddenlink) cable was out and waiting for Allo Fiber. Worked great in Powell, but it did trip the garage gfi in Havasu so I couldn't see my cameras for a couple of weeks. Not sure why it tripped the gfi once.

Ours is on the $150.00 month Roam plan. I just paused it. I'll probably sell it as we won't need one again for a year. I do need to wait 90 days to transfer it per Starlink I'll post it here when I do and save one of the members some $ for a unit only used 30 days if anybody is interested.

I literally just bought it yesterday. I’m up here at the park Fire and I have zero cell service in the mountains and I know I will be stuck here for a few weeks and it’s really hard to run a business without a cell phone so I went to Best Buy and bought the standard Starlink because that’s all they had in stock and today is my first day using it and so far so good. 🙌

Actually up here with a prime tech 300. Knew a guy in Pioneer California and he called me for my Landoll. usually with the dozer and my low bed, but surprisingly that hasn’t been called.

I’d be happy if both were up here because I know we’re not going home anytime soon🤣

I had Dish for our motorhome only and put it on pause eight months ago. That cost $5 a month. Got a letter that they wanted to restart. I called to cancel and boy what a sales pitch to get me to keep dish. We have had it since 1999. We were paying $105 a month and they dropped it to $55 if I would not cancel. Nah, the Starlink works very well for us. We have the Gen 2 dish. It took about 40-45 minutes on the phone and the guy was a good salesman.

Those are bad ass machines. Never been in one but they look like they mulch everything in it’s path.

Stay safe!

Here's my most recent Starlink thing. Had a guy call me recently from one of the roads up the mountains here. I didn't think much of it, until I got there. He'd temporarily setup his mobile Starlink deal on the truck bed, and called via VOIP. This his high tech telecommunications stuff for me.

Without that, no cell service, and could have been a big issue. After seeing that, it showed what other stuff can be used. Way more than pornhub!

I bought it for RV a few months back when we had zero internet or cell in Tombstone. Def a game changer. Can turn service off when not using and I can have it set up on RV ladder mount getting a signal in less then 10 mins

I have the Gen2 on ROAM Service.
Best thing we did for our Havasu summer spot.
The way Spectrum is raising rates, might add another account for home.

I just want to put this out there so that everyone understands how crooked and punitive the leftist government is. Think about how much Starlink has changed the lives of rural people that were previously unable to have reliable broadband, in just a matter of a couple years.

The FCC has been giving these hard wire internet provides billions and billions for decades to expand rural broadband, mostly to totally lackluster results. Starlink comes in and actually provides the access that has been promised by comcast and the rest of these conglomerates, and the FCC denies them the reward they pay to these legacy companies that are total failures.

Total BS.
My mom’s summer home in Northern WI has zero internet / cable service and cell phone signal strength sucks.
Got her a starlink (it goes between the house in WI and Tucson) and they love it. Without it, they would be very limited when on the WI property. M

I put Starlink on the top of our fishing boat a year ago and it's been amazing, one outage that lasted 5 minutes. Seeing speeds up to 230MB download, with the KVH system we averaged 750KB a second, not even a megabyte.
Figured once we were far north it would be become sketchy but not the case.

Am I correct that it is $299 for equipment and $120 per month? I am currently paying $108 per month at river for Optimum, outages have been minimal now that they seem to have things worked out.

Starlink sounds awesome but $120 per month seems pricey.

Definitely would have this if I had a moho!

$120 is for home. Roam (Motorhome) is $150 a month. Through July the equipment was $250. I bought a second one a few days ago and is being delivered this weekend.

Not sure how often you are out there but sounds like you can pause Starlink when you aren't going to be there.
