I would agree.

But do you honestly think that's the Main reason it's been on the market for 18 weeks? Because of the copy?

🤔

I think it's because it's priced as high as the original purchase price and now it has 1100 miles on it if I had to guess..

Two seaters never hold the value that 4 seaters do either.

If I wasn't going through major life transformations right now I'd consider it as I really want a Diablo.

So I ran Mexico with no problems and then normal riding.. desert bash was the last big Offroad trip I did.. ran the car pretty hard but not crazy.. at the end I jumped off the course and wound it out across some really fast trails.. i knew I smoked the belt but it hadn’t broken yet so I kinda nursed it home.. well Having replaced belts in Polaris’s before it wasn’t something I was looking forward too..

I was shocked at how easy it was to do! My son actually did everything except opening the clutches on the secondary.

Still not something I’d want to do on the trail but it is exponentially easier than when I did my ranger or rzr’s

I was looking at the Dakar Ford Raptor T1+ and they have a huge air inlet on the roof and the air is channeled through the cockpit to the radiators
Would this be something that could be added to the speed

Very cool father son experience. 👍🏼

I have to ask though, why is only half the belt getting used?

Likely due to misalignment that they are all suffering from.
I thinks it’s because you only change a Polaris belt every couple of years vs every couple of miles.
Yep 7000 miles and broken a belt once lol.

I haven’t broke one yet but I changed it once in the garage just to see how hard it was. Took longer to get the cover off!

I bought one of the cotter pin kits after doing my last preventative belt change. Still haven’t put the damn things in. Just don’t go through enough belts to make it worth it.

That is the outside of the belt it actually doesn’t contact anything.. it was just degrading from
Heat and wear..

What is so hard about changing a Polaris belt ?

Just taking all the fasteners out and getting the new belt on etc.. just a pain in the ass. This was incredibly simple and quick.

I will say Polaris and Canam use WAY to many bolts around the clutch covers, the first thing I do is always ditch most of them besides 3-4 of them, thats all you need. CMI makes a cool quick pin kit for most of them too that you dont even need a tool for to remove the cover. On the Pro R the ones on the bottom of the cover are a bitch to get to but thankfully you don't ever need to change the belt on those lol

In how many miles?? That makes no sense at all. It looks like it flipped in the sheaves or something! On the computer, you it looks like the belt is bowed just a bit??

No f'n way did heat (and no contact) do that kinna damage to the OUTSIDE of the belt.

You got's some more splain'n to to there Lucy!!!

So the same dude that posted about rolling his shit is the one complaining about a couple cracks? lol come on!!!! I have 5000 miles in two Pro R and didnt ever crack one where he did lol. Its possible to break anything but if two cracks are the biggest of his worries thats pretty damn good!!!

Sustained high speed and belt temp is my guess.

I’d check trans/motor alignment too. If you’re off just .001 it’ll start chipping away at the belt.

But…

I’m thinking Dave’s issue is found between the drivers seat and steering wheel 😂

I need to check the alignment. I know full potential machines something and aligns them.. I’d have to figure out how I’d even check it first and what I’d have to machine to make it right.

Didn’t you tow someone back to camp after they broke down

That’s a lot of extra strain on the belt

Put the new belt on start it up / shut it off and take a pic of the alignment

I got these pics on line as an illustration

That would explain the wear side perfectly.

The back side, not so much!!! 😁

Exactly.

It flipped in the sheeves somehow. There is no other explanation for that wear.

The only possible issue would be, if a rock or something found it's way inside the shield/covers.

The way it's bowed in that one pic, indicates it somehow flipped on it's side though.

It’s nearly impossible for that to happen but nothing is out of the question.

My guess is RD slipped a belt and glazed a tooth. Probably towing or deep sand while he was whisky throttling it lol. It glazed a belt tooth which instantly makes them brittle, like setting fire to it.

That tooth then ate itself and then was slipping ever since taking out the belt teeth one by one. Like a death by a thousand lashes lol

I would definitely check alignment though. Everyone should have an alignment tool in their tool box just to check periodically. I’m not familiar with the speed setup but I imagine alignment is a thing just like Polaris.

Ultimate guess though is that RD is captain whisky throttle 😂

I agree.

But again, you're describing what the INSIDE of the belt would look like.

Not the outside. Clearly friction (from who knows what) wiped out the backside of the belt.

Has anyone else had this Exact issue?

If not, it was probably a stray rock.

Joe the belts can’t “flip” in there..

One would think.

But, if there IS some kind of alignment issue, anything IS possible.

The bow in the belt, and the damage done to it, is a story that's hard to ignore.

If you lived in CA you could of threatened polaris with a lemon law case. They paid out $800 on the rzr 200 and $250 for taking it in for the recall. It was a pain in the ass chasing them for the money. They forgot to send the check like 3 times. But months later it finally showed. I heard they paid out over 4k to some with the more expensive units that had stop rides. Other states got nothing.
We got 2k

The belt delaminates like a tire. Heat and belt slippage is 100% the cause of that damage.

I chunked a belt like that trying to tow my friend's heavy Colorado Sand Truck.

Changing a belt is only a pain in the ass if the stands get wrapped up in the clutches. Otherwise out in the dunes or desert it is super easy and can be done in 20 minutes.

If you are riding in dry environments you can remove most of the clutch cover bolts and run 4 of them.

On the backside??? Evenly like that??? You know that makes zero sense, right? That sure looks like friction wear to me!

Belts do strange things. Maybe it stretched with heat and hit the inner clutch cover. Dave would have to look and see if there are rubber marks on the inner cover. I am still sticking to heat and delamination.

I have shredded belts, snapped them in small pieces, had one with missing chunks on the top like Dave's.

My friend's Turbo S belt had missing chunks on the top of the belt this past week in Glamis.

I think it’s heat personally and just a ton of miles

A ton of miles? The inside still looks brand new!

The crew I hang with usually gets 5 years or so on a belt, and thousands of miles.

What's a ton of miles to you? 🤔

Heat is my guess as well.

700 miles is not a ton of miles on a belt unless those are race miles. LOL!

Away from the dunes a belt should last 1500 or more miles.

Can't go by years as a lot of SXS owners barely do more than 500 miles a years. LOL!

Also desert and trail miles are a lot easier on belts than dune miles.

Best I have done is 2800 miles on a XP1000 belt and my first Can Am went just over 2,000 miles.

I do about 3000 miles on a belt. I change them even tho they are not broken. I can feel the slip some so time for a new one.

Longest I went on my turbo s was 4500 miles that’s dunes and trails. I had top pieces missing too. But it wasn’t worn on one side like this one.
