I saw this at Kartek today, pelican case with speed brand tools. It was kinda cool set up, I’m guessing 50lbs of shit in the box. There was another layer on bottom with persuasion devices.

Who's Dave Magoo? Is he that Chandler guy I've heard about? Maybe he don't know who RD is?

Bullshit.. they broke it at king of the hammers.. (what were the dates on that?). new transmissions are already here and being installed.

There is no way anyone could have put that together faster

its been 12 weeks since they broke the tranny, Speed said 4-6 weeks i said no way more like months.

i will agree that is about as fast as it gets for new castings. i knew 4-6 weeks was not accurate tho.

Saw Robby yesterday walking the tech/contingency at the NORRA 1000 here in Mexico. Car #18 had a ton of people around it. Car is bad ass. I don’t care what the haters say. It’s good for the industry.

just to make a case thicker from a cad file they already had? They didn’t change the internals at all right? That should have been “2 weeks” not 12. shit, cut some billet cases for the first run owners and send them down the road to break other things

Agreed. Car is pretty bad ass. Suspension looks pretty stout. It’ll be fun to see how it competes when they get the drivetrain figured out.

Looks like the chicom case is $99.00, that would leave you $400.00 to fill it up with the rest of the stuff at harbor freight. I’d guess it’s possible to outfit the box pretty close minus the insert trays. View attachment 1224723 View attachment 1224724
I like to talk crap about Robby & his car. But I bought the Speed tool case over a year ago and it’s not Harbor Freight quality. It’s way better. Could you build a box for less? Probably, but you’re not going to get as good of a kit, not going to get with inserts & parts trays to hold each tool for what the Speed tool kit costs. Several of the bigger Baja tour companies use the Speed tool kits. Lots of racers, including Brice Menzies uses the Speed tool kits. If they were HF junk those guys would not be using them. My only complaint is you can’t buy individual tools from Speed if you loose one. I’ve lost a few sockets already. I was told awhile ago they would eventually off replacement tools if lost. Maybe they are now? I just don’t know? Out of the guys I know that have the Speed tool kit, not a single tool has broke.

So...

You can't get a spare wrench, but you'll be able to get spare parts for your car?

Asking for a friend of course...

🤔

I think there is a place for quality tools, but as a hobbyist wrench turner at best, I have no need for them. I have rolling boxes at three different locations and several tool bags in different vehicles loaded with cheap shit from HF. When I get a speed car I will strap some cheap HF tool kit to it aswell 😂

Are we talking the $1500 speed tool kit for race teams or weekend user? For racers I would agree, a quality tool kit could be the difference between winning and DNF. But an average weekend person isn't going to be carrying snap-on quality tools on there sxs. They just want a kit that covers everything they might need. Just my opinion.

You should look at the tool kits and see what they give you. It’s allot of tools. They give you some nice aluminum hose fitting wrenches. The ratcheting wrenches are as good as the Gear Wrench brand imo. They also offer a smaller “UTV” kit too. I’ve seen a few of the UTV size kits mounted in some nice prerun trucks. This is the kit most of my buddys bought to take with them to the desert . I’m not a race team or anything like that. I just used the kit for my UTV or for anything else around the garage. It’s also nice as I can just grab it, put it in the Toyhauler and I know I have everything I’d need for the truck, trailer or UTV when camping in the dunes. If Speed tools was called DCB tools or Eliminator tools, all you baller boat guys, would not blink at $1500 or $950 for the smaller tool kit.

Yeah I agree the only thing that’s better about the Polaris tool kit is a comes with the fire extinguisher, marshmallows, chocolate bars and graham crackers.

Difference is all those boat companies you mentioned have boats on the water that customers can use whenever they want.

Again Im still a possible speed owner in the future but do like to poke fun.

I’ve heard mention of them being a brand like KTM or similar with all the extra merch like clothing and tools. Again the big difference is those companies built brand loyalty in the product motorcycles in the case of KTM then the branded tools hard parts and whatever came later. It wasn’t more than 15ys ago KTM was still considered overpriced junk and hard to get parts. They went from the smallest least wanted to be on factory teams to one of if not the biggest of you include husky and gas gas.

If speed would just get cars in peoples hands take their lumps with mistakes and complaints and let the customers help them figure out what would make it better or what the weak parts are.

He’ll people bitch about Polaris and CanAm and they’re the supposed industry leaders! But people still buy them like crazy and the brands keep growing because they keep uping the game.
