Has Funco ever had a recall ?
I know it’s not for off road use it’s just a sand car
It will never win the Baja 500 but you won’t either even if you had a car capable of such a feat Well maybe one or 2 of you could the rest of us just not capable.
All this DRAMA over such an inferior class of toy it reminds me of people arguing over Bud light vs Coors Light or Diet Coke vs Diet Pepsi.
And Dam don’t some people get there tities all in a twisted about what is the better toy.
I am not saying this info won’t be useful to me as at some point, I will be buying one as a backup to a real performance Sand car but what giant time suck for those that discuss the minutia of Robbie’s Business and perceived personal shortcomings I will now go refill my whiskey glass and wait with great anticipation of the forthcoming ridicule of my opinion and my choice of off road transportation

Those Funco cars are and, will always be, amazing cars.

I don’t know if people are serious or not. I just laugh but no idea if they’re tuned the fuck up over it and if they are why they care so much.

I just sit back and read the room. Probably why I barely know my neighbors after 20 years. I don’t snoop around in their business and they don’t snoop in mine.

It’s still good entertainment to read through.

You left the part out about how You actually Have won the baja in a SxS.

So modest. 😎

Great looking sand car!

I'm the 'being poor somewhere else ' kinda guy.

I have a beat to shit CJ-7.
Two different 327s slammed together.
Second hand 465 and a 205
Used boat 750 carb.
Home built drive shafts.
Drivers seat belt is still busted.
Not exactly a cool rock crawler, or Mall crawler either.
Rust holes from former life in Huntington Beach
Reliable as a brick.
Patina is paint.
Bikini top. No doors.
Complete garbage. Unsafe at any speed.
But fun as hell.
Been on the 405 fwy, and Death Valley chicken curve. Johnson Valley Hammers and the John Bull trail. Oatman. Kennedy Meadows.
Tombstone. Grand Canyon.
I'm thinking probably not the best for Glamis. But I'd love to try
Still fun.
Just a toy. And a rolling accident.
Whatever.
When you've had it for 25+ years, it's a member of the family.

Being poor over here.

Just curious, what RZR do you have? We're on our third one and had no real problems to speak of.
2018 XP Turbo 2,200 miles. 2nd engine, 2nd Radiator, 3rd turbo, 2nd differential, 4th set of clutches, 800th Belt.

I can't really blame Polaris for all of it, I am pretty sure a large problem sits between the Steering Wheel and the Left Seat.

Agreed, we've been very pleased with our cars. I think we've had 9 between me and my parents.

@c_land your picture came through as I was typing this. yeah, hard to blame the car for any of that after seeing that picture. lol

I do think these cars are much more suited for the dirt vs the sand...

Speed I do not believe had any official recalls. If you went by the other issues that occurred versus how many units were delivered they would have a pretty high percentage.

Polaris having the most recalls is no shock. At least over the last few years for them is has not been fire related.

None of them are having the Toyota Tundra problem of recalling motors.

Your take is...

Interesting. 😉

Polaris is signed up for Class 1. They’re coming for the overall. We’re getting close to UTV’s are billing at the heels of the Trophy’s and Class 1’s.

And the Daily Double is...

Insurance Fraud!

How much would You like to wager?

🤔🤣
Don’t take that bet it’s been confirmed on another site that the car didn’t roll! Glad nobody was hurt.

Here’s the quote from another forum.

“Was one of my buddies car. It didn't roll. He was at the dunes going up hill turned around and on the way down his friend seen smoke from the rear and stopped him. He jumped out but the wind was horrendous. By the time they could get to the extinguishers the car was already completely up in flames. I've inspected what remains but there is hardly anything left. It's covered in sand because they tried another machine to roost the flames out. He's pretty shaken up but ok. Can't tell what caused this but will be inspecting all the other cars to ensure there isn't a problem. This car has always run great. Definitely a bummer deal!”

The early adopters received a fair share of a discount, if you had to pay retail for the car, currently $49,000 on their website. Do you think you would feel the same against the current cars on the market at full price?

Well I think that’s exactly what I said earlier.. I got mine for a severely reduced price and expected some aftermarket solutions to problems on the way..

I’ll be into this car mid 50’s all said and done to get it the way I want it. For reference I was into my can am about 65 all said and done..

I feel like certain aspects of the speed are light years ahead of the can am. I feel there was a few things I liked about the can am but overall would much rather have the speed.

If you take current pricing would you be into your Speed for more than your Can Am?

Is that what society is nowadays? Something happens to someone and everyone just automatically assumes that its insurance fraud? Like vehicles have never caught on fire before? Wasn't there a video of a speed starting to catch fire a while back in the rear somewhere, but the guys was able to get it out with a fire extinguisher, it couldnt have possibly happened again, but this guy wasnt as lucky to get it out?

That would suck and why I have two fireboy type systems on my car. Curious if it threw a belt and sent pieces throughout the engine compartment that then caught fire. We’ll likely never know. Has to feel like shit trailering that thing home but at least nobody was injured it seems.
Would it suck though? Assuming it's fully insured I'm saying it does not suck too bad.
What are the odds the owner gets another speed?

If my can am burnt down I think I'd change manufacturers.
I know i know, too what....

Fire in an off road situation is a good way to die and/or be severely injured. I don’t think you’re worried about recouping costs the instant you realize your on fire lol

Fire is bad in just about any situation. Unless you are enjoying a few cold ones around or need it to get the stuck object freed up as a last resort.

Testing before a boat race last summer blower popped on takeoff after some driving around .... instant fire. Floating right down from my house and we had a seadoo tied up in the water. The forecast for the race was 110 degrees so I had suited up the whole time to prep for the heat even though some of my buddies were questioning it as I did it because it was like 115 that day. Cleaning up after the extinguisher is a bitch, but how quick it all went down was a wake up call to how fast things can go sideways out of nowhere with fire 🔥

Fire is no joke and people don’t realize how quickly it can consume them. Smart that you were suited. Made my hair stand up reading your post. Glad you were okay.

My buddy called on his, since he's seen all the cars sitting around now.

I'd tell you what they told him, but no one would believe me. I can't hardly believe it myself.

Needless to say, he's still waiting.

What did they say? All these cars at Speed seem to be Diablo’s, or older cars. They must be the last of the first Diablo batch that shipped. They were supposed to be building the next batch of 500 Jefe’s a few months ago, but no one has seen or been told there Jefe is in transit. Makes me think they did not start building as scheduled or missed their date to get in the assembly line.

I’d bet allot of those Diablos end up at the Sand Show for sale in the Speed booth next month.
