Oil cooler, not radiator. This is a dedicated oil cooler and eliminates using the oil cooler that is intergraded in the radiator, like an auto transmission would. Also the added lines & cooler should add 2 plus more qrts of oil. One of the issues is how fast the Speed circulates its oil. It’s said it circulates to fast and the stock oil cooler does not have the time to bring the oil temps down after longer hard runs.

I'd guess I'd have to see one of these cars in person then.

Professional drivers roll trophy trucks in corners sometimes you want people to be surprised that hillbillies roll RZRs after a few beers?

Just saying the speeds tend to take a set in corners.. they almost squat for lack of a better term..

I agree but I still think once the general public starts doing donuts around camp you’ll see a few speed cars end up on their lids.

There has only been a couple that have rolled so far and they were pretty extenuating circumstances..

If you’re doing doughnuts around camp then you need to roll your car!

That’s so stupid !!

Very nice car! Have you had any inner rear cv’s over heating or boots melting? I know several have like the Matlocks. I think the inners on the Mav R in race conditions have had more inner cv temp issues vs the Pro R. I’m seeing allot of teams running air duct hose to the inner rear cv’s to help cool them.

I was told on the Pro R they think allot of the heat is coming from the lack of air flow, but also the independent rear dif as it runs pretty hot, so I’m told?

Here is Matlocks MacGyver red ducting during the Norra race as their new Upfit built prerunners had a few cv failures, plus it was just hot out.
View attachment 1414312

We have only had one CV melt on us and it was during the NORRA 1000 race last year. It was hotter than hell too. I unzipped my race suit it was so hot. The axle made it almost to Cabo so it survived 900+ miles. I saw the Matlock’s setup and it appears it’s working. We’ll see them at the 500 so I’ll ask them more about it.

How much is that whole oil cooler setup?

So speeds need the following to be drivable with the windshield

Guessing on prices
Radiator raise kit $400
New front mount oil cooler with -12 lines $2000
New fans $1000
Pivot kit $1500
Spring kit $2000

Not to mention $400 axles
$250 belts (need several)

Lifetime unlimited tow membership $500/year

I thought these were perfect out of the box? And needed nothing!

It just like the rzr and can am, you are still dropping 10k in accessories easy

The biggest difference between can am /polaris and the speed car is reliability. Speed doesn’t have it. If spending the same money I’ll take a pro R which is faster handles the same if not better and is 1000x more reliable. Oh and I can take it to any of the 1000,s of dealers for parts and service.

Was thinking the same thing, so much for not needing anything.

In their live videos they had said that the windshield would cause the car to overheat in anything above 50 degrees

Gotcha. They need to connect the dots between all of the live video "updated info for consumers" and their sales sheets / website.
Add a note stating the usage limitations, or pull that option from the market. It's not right to keep advertising it and letting people order it when it can' tbe used.
Just as @dirtslinger2 said, during early testing they found out at what temp a windshield could be run at. They even made mock up 1/2 & full windshields to test during the summer & winter around Charlotte NC. This was well before any customer cars were delivered, and during prototype & pre production cars were being tested.

You seem to have quite a bit of interest or frustration with Speed. You should go back and watch some of the weekly videos. It will answer allot of your questions as all this was talked about and shown in those videos and in Robbys random IG live videos when out testing.
Ive seen alot of the videos over the past years.

The problem is - You can't expect (require) the average consumer to watch hundreds of videos, over 2-3 years, and retain all of the "gotcha's" before ordering a car from listed options on their order site. If people are paying for a car that's equipped from the manufacturer with all OEM accesories, they should be able to be used. in cases such as the windshield, they should take the 2-minutes worth of effort and add a note to that option so people don't continue ordering that option if they can't use it.

Easy as that. Its just bad business how they're handling it (or not handling it . . .)
Not a problem if they would just handle the business aspect of it correctly, but like alot of other things, they just dont.

To put it into proper RDP context for perspective - If it was a F150 (it costs as much as an F150...) and it was overheating because you ordered the STX trim with the sport grille, Ford would either have to update the part and fix it, or discontinue offering that option and credit the customer back before delivery.

Because I’m a technical guy. Please clarify a few things.

You said; Speeds need the following to be drivable with the windshield. How does a rod end pivot kit and springs fix the windshield issue? You put those on the list of needs to run a windshield. Then you added axles and belts. Again you need new axles to run a windshield?

Tow membership? I’m guessing that’s your trolling dig at Speed comment?

Robbys ego said these cars would be perfect out of the box, but we all know that’s not humanly possible. Even at $250K ea, no car is going to be perfect out of the box.

Most definitely just like a Polaris or Can Am these cars need the aftermarket support to fix and make the car better. Unfortunately unlike Polaris & Can Am, Speed has yet to recognize and support that idea.

Again you are 100% right with your last statement about reliability and dealer service support. Everyone else has that, Speed does not.

Lastly your comment about the Pro R handling as good or better. Again not a statement you can make unless you have personally driven a Speed. I have yet talked to a single person who has had the chance to drive a Speed, say the Pro R actually handles better then a Speed. I’ve spoke to two critics of the Speed and they both said stock for stock, the Speed handling & suspension is much better than any other UTV they have driven. It feels so much more planted. It’s like a real buggy feels. But they also said the power feeling is lacking vs both the Pro series and the Mav & X3. It’s more in line with the Polaris XP turbo line up. But also everyone has there own judgement and opinion, but to be fair & honest you have to have driven both to say, which handles better. Have you driven a Speed or looked and the geometry differences between the two?

It’s ok to be a critic or not like a product, but be honest and don’t just make things up to build up your opinion.

I will admit that right now both Can Am & Polaris have an overall better car vs Speed. No argument there. Speed has it high points, and is on the verge of being that better car. But there are a couple critical things on the car that need improvement, (ability to run a windshield is not one of them.) and overall business structure is lacking to even get close to the overall better brand.

He’s pretty good friends w Ashley. I can’t guarantee he’s driven his speed car but it wouldn’t shock me.

Can someone please use the right size hose clamps. One of my pet peeves as I seem to bleed from them

1723215181603.jpeg

That is Parker Push-Lok hose.
It appears as though they are using Push-Lok style fittings as well.
Putting that clamp on is not proper.
The barbs on a Push-Lok fitting are much sharper and by putting a clamp on them (which they are not designed for) can cut the inside of the hose.
That is why they are “Push-Lok”.

Anyway back to the regularly scheduled banter…….

You guys have a very similar know it all approach. I saw you on another site first so I know your posting style but it’s very ash ish
Sorry I come off as a “know it all” that is not my intentions. I’m pretty fortunate to have grown up in this industry, and know most of the players involved way before the Speed UTV was created. I grew up walking into shops like Chenowth, Jimco etc.. and they all knowing me. Still to this day I know allot of people within the off road industry. So my knowledge is fairly deep and maybe why I sound like a know it all? Sorry I will try to tone it down. Thus why my wife would never go to a Sand Sport show, or off road event as she says it takes to damn long as I know and talk to too many people. Lol. From the little I know of the LOF person they seem much more “Pro Speed” where I feel I’m more objective and will fairly point out the pros, but also the negatives of the brand.

I have a Polaris and overall it’s been a great machine, but I will admit and point out its strengths & flaws as it’s full of them. I’m the guy who buys it, then pulls the shocks off and cycles the suspension to see what it’s doing. When I was racing off road I was super anal with the details too.

It’s not a bad thing and I wasn’t saying it as an insult just a posting type. Kind of like when Dave posted I think he owns the speed forum and you responded with a quick nope. When I first started reading your posts on the other forum I thought you were very pro speed. That has seemed to change over the last few months

To me...

It's clear you have some solid wrench turning knowledge.

A lot of posts on here are from people that have READ this or that, but don't have any actual experience diagnosing and fixing problems.

Top that off with the major league lack of reading comprehension on here, and it's a recipe for disaster! 🤣

Keep on keeping on. 👍🏼

Well your prices are high and low depending..

To run a windshield all you’d really need is a 250.00 roof scoop this is providing you are running window nets.

There is a lot of variables here.. a lot of guys not running window nets aren’t having the problem of overheating anyways..

I mean you could just not run a windshield and be fine?

For reference when I bought my X3 right out of the gate I needed the front bulkhead kit (lots of variables on that as to how far you want to go). Mine was second generation so they said you didn’t need lower front an arms.. but most replaced or gussetted them. You need a cage because the stock ones fold up like laundry. Etc..
You need radius arms.. you need springs because they sag after a short amount of time.

I guess I’m missing your point?

Speed said if you run the windshield in these conditions you are going to have this problem. A lot of us chose to run it anyways and are now solving the issue?

All of them have short comings somewhere..

I’ve always believed in the Speed vision and can be Pro Speed, heck I have one on order. I don’t want to see them fail, for personal reasons, but also for the better of the industry. No way someone can’t look at what Polaris & Can Am are producing now and not see Speed has not forced these other brands to step up their game. And that’s a positive for everyone. But I can also be objective and honest, without being hateful or bashing someone’s efforts. And yes as more cars are being released and we are learning or not learning more about how Speed plans on running the business side, or deal with some of the design issues. It has me more concerned with the future of the brand & product that I’m supposed to purchase. But I still believe the product can be what it’s supposed to be. It just needs a bit more support to get there, and I hope that happens.

Yes I was quick to answer Dave’s comment as I know the owner of the Speed forum very well. I know that’s not his car, and just wanted to clarify that.

^^^ I replaced my lower A-arms on my X3 and did the gusset kit, but my radius arms are fine. I actually don't see too many X3's with aftermarket arms. I also replaced my cage, but the stock cage has held up to some decent crashes on other people's cars.

That is Exactly how Ive Always felt.

And why I said in the beginning, Speed will be antiquated, by the time they figure it All out.

Yet...

Others have said Polaris and CanAm had these new cars planed for release, before anyone ever heard of Speed.

Hard to say. But I fully agree with your point of view here. Speed has been good for the consumer for sure.

At least the ones looking at That price point anyway. 😜

Like this one?

Yes like that one.. lol.

I’d happily compare the hard cornering ability of a stock speed to anything else out there..

That video is a slow speed ditch deal. I watched it awhile back

The suspension for sure. Any engineer knows they would love to have it but patents keep them from using it. Nobody wants a radius arm car unless their forced to lol

Its a VW trailing arm design form what 1930?
I cannot believe you buy into this.
Yes it is good.
No it is not unique.
Those patents wouldn’t hold up for 5 seconds in court as anyone could easily show those designs have been around for decades…….

Is the speed suspension better than maverick R?
Give it a number
If speed is a 10, what is the R?
Is it a 10 rating by a speed owner or a R owner.

All I hear it's the best. But by a mile or 10 feet.
I only know a x3 with some shock therapy stuff and tuned to havasu.

Can Am has a announcement on the 19th. Something to do with the 2025 R
