This car has the best cage bar none in the entire SXS industry. It is 1.75” .120” DOM steel for all the main cage structure.

The stock Speed cage is race legal, just by welding in horizontal door bars. No other SXS can say that or has that cage specification. They all need an aftermarket roll cage to race.

The cage and safety of the car is what sold me on it.
This is what I'm talking about.

Pointing out the obvious to LOF Psaki only gets you accused of this... letting me walk you into taking nonsensical positions time after time.😁
I'm not looking for a fight with LOF. I think most people here at RDP are reasonable. Maybe wishful thinking?

This is what I'm talking about.

And that is accurate for the Super Stock UTV racing class. Speed already has a 14 OEM gallon factory fuel tank, class limit is 15 gallons.

RG has stated that BITD said this OEM cage with door bars added would be legal for racing. If something has changed with that statement, we will have to see.

Come on now. Just 2 more weeks. We are sure they are coming. Well. We hope so but won’t say it. Now reading a few pages back. Do you have an out of ca. address. You know carb shit.
And no I can not and will not read 10k post on this. Just seems like a hurry up and wait. But trust me they are coming.

And that is 100% accurate for the Super Stock class.
Here are the rules for BITD super stock UTV class:

UTV-20 CHASSIS (FRAME), BODY AND ROOF: The OEM “stock chassis” (frame) must be used and stock appearance must be maintained. The stock chassis (frame) is defined as, All welded on tubing and brackets from the top of door and bed down. Please contact the BITD UTV Tech Inspector for a better description. If any part of the stock chassis is damaged, you must contact the BITD UTV Tech inspector to get the repairs approved. Any modifications or repairs to the stock chassis (frame) must be approved by the Best in the Desert tech inspector prior to making any repairs. The stock chassis (frame) may be added to, for durability and strength, but must retain the stock width, length, configuration and design. OEM UTV roll cages cannot be used. All joints must be attached to frame securely. BODY; the OEM plastic body must be kept. ROOF; The roof must be covered with sheet metal or aluminum. Minimum thickness recommended is .060

The rules state "OEM UTV roll cages cannot be used". How is speeduv going to get around this rule? It's going to suck if you can't use the OEM roll cage and no one makes an aftermarket one for it.

How can you make statements that speedutv the only UTV that meets the rollbar requirements stock when it doesn't meet the current rules?

Well if you watched the updates you would know. You can choose to believe them or not. I’m not making the statement, they did.

Speed does not even fit the current Super Stock rules to have an exemption because they have not delivered any yet.

I'm just throwing this out there, sorry for the rant but no offense meant to anybody. And I'm not a Speed fanboy by any means, I'm perfectly happy with my YXZ, lol.

As a professional racer, you and your daughter depend on the strength of the cages and integrity of the cars as a whole to save your life in the event of the inevitable crash.

So when you look at what RG is doing, do you not see the value in buying a race car, versus a toy? If you're being honest, you will admit that the product that he is bringing to market is much closer to a 10 car than a recreational side by side. The design and materials for the cage alone are well above that of any production utv available.

The transmission and drivetrain are going to be the wild card, since they are a fresh start. But suspension geometry and cage design come directly from his background in TT racing, and I don't think anybody can dispute that he is probably the hardest person on equipment that has ever sat in the driver's seat. Obviously many others drive smarter, like Rob Mac, Ampudia, Menzies, McMillians, Brenthals, etc...

But why the hate? He's not late, it's just taking longer to produce a quality product that he wants to bring to Market at 100%. If he took an 80% product to market 2 months ago, it would sink the company. From what I've seen, RG is aggressive at everything he does. The fact that he understated his timeline doesn't mean that the product at the end is going to be s***.

Honest question, if these things come out and prove to be better performing and more safe than Polaris or can-am, would you switch for a sponsorship?
First off there is ZERO hate for RG bringing a car to the market, in fact I think it’s great as this will make my sponsor and the other manufacturers step up which benefits me and you the consumer. I like to poke fun with LOF and he knows its just in jest. The problem I have is related to how Robbie races on the ”course” and is teaching max these same ways and that I don’t respect at all, but has nothing to do with his ability to build a race car. I just think it’s funny hope people keep saying how this car is way above the other SXS’s out here. Has a customer rolled it at high speed and its Held up perfect ? The cage and suspension design you say are above par kinda makes me chuckle since he broke the rear arm tab off ? That’s from a top notch suspension designer ? I know they have addressed this issue now… BUT what other items will fail when the consumer has the car in there hands. The more LOF talks shit about Polaris I’ll be right here making sure to give the shit right back , and no there is ZERO chance I’ll switch to Speed period!! 😎

If I don’t have to spend $10k on seats, cage, window nets, shock work, radios, wheels and tires, an it is at least comparable in performance to the competition…

It’s better than the competition in my estimation. Not to mention it makes another 80 HP on e85 and another 5 HP on gas.

Priced out making 80-100 Hp more than stock on a Can Am or Polaris?

I assume NORRA has some relaxed requirements as they have a safari-type class for people that want to gain a Baja experience.

My comments are just a challenge to the expectation that the Speed car is a turnkey race car and everything else is a hobby. I'm sure it could perform well for a fraction of the cost of a 10-car; I'm just not convinced the stock cage meets tech inspection due to the tube clamps. Things may have changed; I have not been involved in racing for about ten years. It will be easy to prove this when cars show up in stock form at BITD and SCORE.

I would be remiss not to point out that "Speed said" is how we got to almost 100 pages. :)

I can't quote any exact presentation or communication, but I do remember hearing that to be race legal required some work, and I believe what was said was removing the bolted joints, and adding a door bar, and that speed would be providing the parts for that, and the customer would install/weld those components.

The first thing that comes to mind is, adding a Battery Switch (accessible), Fuel Cell, Fire wall and a Fire Suppression System, I haven't read the specs for either racing sanctioning body is a few years so there have been quite a few changes in that time.

These types of responses are what I wish I were seeing regarding Speed cars. These seem helpful and reasonably common sense. 🍻 Cheers to you.

We should spend time discussing fire suppression systems, where to mount an additional extinguisher, and what size it should be. I've got the Safecraft system on my play car, but I have not yet added a hand-held extinguisher. I don't yet have a batter cut-off switch either but would like to add this.

I believe setting these cars up to adopt race safety standards should be as crucial as debating horsepower and travel upgrades. It blows my mind we have play cars that rival the performance of a 10-car, and we ignore the stuff that keeps us safe.

I would like to have my Can-Am race legal, but not so I can race. Instead, these are proven standards to keep me and my passenger safe in a crash.

It would be pretty obvious we could shift the discussion from the Speed car is the most race-ready to these are what you need to make it race-ready. Since there are a few UTV racers on here, I would love to hear what they say, regardless of brand.

Well if you watched the updates you would know. You can choose to believe them or not. I’m not making the statement, they did.

You typed "The stock Speed cage is race legal." Your words. You weren't citing some source. Then you backtracked and said well, it's legal in the super-sport class. Apparently, it is not. Now you say, well, we'll just wait and see. You made a statement (twice), and sources say it is incorrect. Perhaps you heard it from Speed, but you claimed it as a fact, and based on the rules posted above it is not a fact. That is the bottom line. It's okay to say you made a mistake. We all make mistakes and state incorrect things, genuinely believing they are correct. But when we are called out on them, most rational people will say something like, "Yeah, I guess I got that wrong. Now I know. Thanks for setting me straight." Perhaps you should practice that. ;)

Skipping folks is no bueno. My wife bakery sells holiday cookies with a deposit.
Everything is tracked based on deposit date. No skipping, even when shipping is involved.

Maybe the next design issue will cause another delay so folks don’t get skipped :)

Your wife does not deal with the EPA or CARB.

Why would any business let inventory sit for an indeterminate period of time when they can deliver to others and capture revenue?

Super Stock UTV racing is indeed sanctioned racing, is it not? That is the class for bolt on cages. The consumer spec Speed UTV has a bolt on cage.

The car is not even legal in Super Stock yet because it is not in production. What sanctioning body gives an exemption for a car that is not even yet legal for the class because it has not homologated?

Most rational people wouldn’t argue for years with me about a car they won’t buy from a company they don’t trust, run by a person they don’t like…

But here we are.

That cage is not any different in materials and construction than any other bolt on aftermarket cage for another brand SXS.

Is there another SXS mfg that makes a cage out of 1.75” .095” DOM tube? No.

Have it worse, FDA and CA retail food code.
If deposit holder #5 is CA (and wants CA registration) and #6 is CA (but can register in AZ), it is right 5 gets skipped. If you were #5, your opinion would be different.

I have nothing positive to add. Except:
I bought my under-hood burn cj7 in oct1994.

Since then:
I had my first daughter, then twins, started a side business of landscaping, the internet was born. Off-road.com. Pirate4x4.com. eBay.
Craigslist. Dynatrac. Currie enterprises.

I’ve bought, sold, traded Dana 60’s, built a shop of big ass tools without any room for them,
Grown, spent money, camped and skied. Still haven’t ever driven “My $$ pile of parts”.

Im guessing my cj7 rock crawler will debut before the speedcar. Now it’s all about rock racing, DCB big cats, etc.

Life is weird. Im about done here.
Screw this work shit. I’ve lost my brother-in-law, almost the other one. Every male above 67 is dying.

Where’s my speedcar? That’s right. Im a broke-ass bitch still.

Carry on the argument guys.

What if # 5 is a 2 door car.. why does he have to wait? He should just get his car! It is not right he has to wait until they do a 2 door production run. They should make his car bespoke for him because he was #5.

You can’t talk about profitability one day and then talk about how delivery order isn’t fair to the next. This is a business, they are doing this to make money. They need to deliver product to drive revenue. I know you know this.

So yes it is right. If you can’t take delivery give the product to someone who can. This is a not a lunch line. If #5 wants a car without waiting, he needs to take delivery in AZ. Pretty simple.

The Same thing happened in 2015 when Turbo RZRs came out.. did Polaris wait to deliver product until CARB approval ? Take a guess as to who got cars and who waited.

The good thing is that these are 50 state cars. You can take delivery and register it at the appropriate time.

Yamaha used 1.75 for most of the frame and cage, but I guarantee you it's not 095 and it's most definitely not DOM. Probably 065 cheap Chinese steel.

My son is thinking about ditching his CJ7 build because he imagines it will be years before he can finish building it with cash flow. He can buy just about any UTV with a reasonable down payment and enjoy himself like many other Leveraged Americans.

I sure miss Pirate. [flipoff]

I do admire LOFs' ability to take a punch. He reminds me of the kid in high school surrounded by a gang and never giving up, only to laugh as he lay bleeding on the floor, crying out "FN pussy's, I'll see you tomorrow".

In 2.5 years there have only been a handfull of well thought out, soundly reasoned punches that landed on this subject. The rest of these guys have a fetish for being kicked in the nuts day in and day out. 😉

I literally do not care when I get these things.

Does the guy that orders a Tesla Cybertruck put his life on hold and go without a vehicle while he waits for the truck for years? No. He has a car or truck he drives until his Cybertruck arrives.

The same thing applies here. So in that regard, I’m laughing every day at those that are more concerned than I am about a Speed UTV they don’t like and won’t buy, yet are here daily to talk about them.

Please start that UTV safety thread. If you don’t put Speed in the title, it should be fine, you’ll only have to deal with the golf cart comments from the uninformed. 👍🏻

Who’s our?? Are you paying for my car?

They never offered a 25% discount either… another huge difference.
You have to keep up ….our money as in ”Polaris“ never took MY money to develop a car, never asked for a deposit , zip zero nada not a cent. wasnt talking about your car. Also you keep saying you are paying 32K for a car you have to do nothing To?? so you have driven it and your confident saying you will be 100% happy with the valving the “one size fits “ set up ? And does yours come with coms, radio, nets for 32K ? Not sure what comes standard just asking

Did #5 have *Delivery date pending EPA certification in your home state. Next to his deposit?

It’s safe to assume that a reasonable person would expect their purchase to be registered in their home state.

I can appreciate what Robby is trying to do. But it seems he has Over promised and under delivered on more than one occasion.

More power to the guys that have patience for this bullshit.

Just wait until we get to air pressure in tires!

THEN

bead lock vrs no bead lock wheels
Funny, I wondered if I could find a thread on air pressure yesterday. I want a good starting point for the Havasu mix of sharp rocks and sand washes.
