Hula really is kinda wired strange isn’t he.
Not sure that three 28 hour road trips have been enough time to fully explore the depths of the hula psyche....

Seems that a bucket of beer helps though....

Ok...
Perhaps not a legit bucket...
Either way it's a big glass of beer.
I dont have small hands...

Theres 6 led lights mounted on the hardtop. They'll come on full bright when you flip the switch, but come on dim when the batteries are turned on. Gotta be some chaffed wire insulation somewhere. I'll find it.

Already replaced a bunch of loose and missing fasteners.
Sound like a bad ground and back feeding power to the led lights maybe even a ground wire off at the battery’s

How's Hula making the tenon vertical cut along the bottom of each board with that setup ? Standing the board up on edge ?

Poor guy's bundled up, obviously freezing in the keys  He doesn't even wear that many layers when it's single digit back home :p
Oh wait, I know, it's so he can share the pics with Paula, showing he's sharing her freezing pain
Noticed he's got a BBQ setup on the trailer, multi-tasking making breakfast while he's working ?

I was wondering if the BBQ was a rare Aluma Trailers option:D I think the multiple layers are to protect Hula's sensitive skin from splinters:p

Jeez you guys. Lol...:p:p:p

Using the table saw to make the tenons.
Sliding t bevel to transfer the miters on the tops. Definitely not rocket surgery as far as a complex project. Just being cautious to not fuq up a cut. Almost 8 bucks a foot for this material.

WTF kinda answer is that for the ole retired electrician asking the question ? WTF is a sliding T-Bevel ? Does your saw head turn horizontal ? Are you holding the board vertical ? If I knew the art of carpentry I wouldn't have asked the dumb-ass question
Don't give me that condescending "Rocket Surgery" crap young man, lol  :D
Just a simple answer will do or you just wait until the next time you ask a rocket surgery electrical question ;)

Sitting out here...
Listening to the wind blow through the palms, and the splash of the tiny waves lapping at the rocks and sand.

I cant help be feel fortunate.

The friends I have, the opportunities I've had to take advantage of.

I lead a charmed life.

It's not challenge the faces us, its what we do with the opportunities we're given. :):):)

I am blessed with what I have, and what I had. It'll define me with what I do with it. ;);)

Your right hula, I saw a friend yesterday that had his son crash on a mountain bike in July and broke his back “paralyzed chest down” lost his house in the Carr fire in Redding after that and had his wife pass away 3 weeks ago. I asked him how do you survive all of that (through my tears) he tells me he is blessed with friends and family. He said I could crawl into a hole but what good is that going to do. He is a retired firefighter (city of Redding) he is going to rebuild his house and go on don’t know if I could. Sorry for the thread jack, but this just hit me hard.

Well yeah, I could have just said that I suppose :D But then I thought he was being particularly mean this morning :( considering he's working in paradise
If I didn't know better I'd have thought he was just trying to make me feel dumb or something --- you don't think ?

Top of the gate is curved. 2x4's slip inside of a slot at the top and bottom. I use a t-bevel to transfer the angle.

Run em through the table saw to make a rabbit in each face and each end.
Whoops. Just got distracted. .

Don't mean to be bugging you and thanks for showing how the tenon fits into the gate. My original question that remains, you've shown the two cuts (Top and bottom) wide wise, how do you set the saw to make the other two (on the lengthwise end), unless you're using the table saw and standing them vertically ?
You're so sharp on this shit I figure you got some cool way to do it.

Being the wood hack that I am (My father was the word worker) I'd probably just use the skill saw to cut the ends --- since I tend to use a skill saw to cut everything, lol :p
When my dad passed I got his rather ancient ShopSmith setup. I'm pretty sure my dad had over the years acquired every attachment and I had them all. Well, right up until the fire that is. I had a few other table saws, planer, all gone and I never replaced anything but my skill saw and a HF drill press.

My ShopSmith looked like this one, roll around bench and all. --- well except much older and well worn, dad I used that to make tons of things when I was growing up.

Hula, you should have demanded the structure be made entirely of tig welded stainless, and then powder coated... You know, to outlast the wood:p

I still can't get over the 8$ per foot on the ebay wood...I didn't know unobtanium grew on trees:eek: I did a roll cage on a rally car. customer brought me the materials, some high zoot, high nickel alloy from Europe. It was 58$ a meter (20 years ago). Screw that measure twice crap...I was measuring each bend mark 4-5 times, every cut the same...and cross referencing tape measurements with steel rules!

Nice work. By the way, I hope you can't get that citronella candle lit when the skeeters come out tonight. :p

Ya, I'm just standing them up on end to run through the table saw. I made the first one this morning from start to finish, just to see how it was all going to go, then cut them all to length, with the angle on the end, then did all the tenons. Saved a bunch of fukin around resetting the fence and depth of the blade. Does the t bevel dealio make sense now? :)
