Fish cops :p

What do you mean, they say nada?
Licensed, tagged and permitted etc.
They give you guys a pass up north?
They are cool to a point around here. Then one crosses the line and gets hit with the hammer.
I wouldn't call ZR's slow by any means and I bet the little go-cart wouldn't stand a chance.

Roughly speaking, I think anything on ice gets a pass, I could be wrong

Quack.. Anything 3 inches off the ground at 50 plus appears to be hauling ass. I did 60 in a Suzuki samari on lake Geneva. My eyeballs tell me I was doing that without the frames per second making it appear faster than it was.
How does everything become an argument? Is it me?

Not turning it into an argument, I just asked a question, jesus.

All good here, I saw us all on the same page, apologies if my response was taken as anything other than adding to the conversation.

We don't really slow down much in a normal year. Probably go out to more dinners and still have parties etc just inside not by the pool. For the past 10 years of my life the Winter has been cheer season so we are all over the place locally and traveling etc. My girls love to ski with my dad and I ride the sleds which as most know is by far my favorite thing to do. I usually also to do a project every winter for the down week days and weekends. This year is finishing a large room in the basement.

Grew up in Milwaukee. Snowball fights, ice skating, sledding, snow forts, would shovel the basketball court across the street and play when above 40ish. When it's real cold just stay inside. Kind of like Havasu when it's 115, stay inside. Milwaukee had a very large public transportation via buses. Until they stopped due to snow, school was in session, typically more than 10".
I thought that's the way of the world until joining the Navy and get stationed in San Diego. I swore never to move back to the mid-west, and here I am in Ohio.

115 in Havasu is nice.. 117+ up to 127’ish sucks lol

Ski lifts are less than 2 miles from my house so I’m on the mountain at least once or twice a day. Gym in the afternoon. Snowshoe hikes with the dogs every evening.

why would they care? Say vs a snow mobile?
It has to be licensed and registered. Just like the desert. Who takes unregistered equipment out to the desert and doesn't expect a ticket?
Name it?

Born and raised in northern illinois
Did the ice fishing and snowmobiling and donuts in the snow.
Skitching=hanging on to rear bumper of car to see who could go the fastest on their feet on snowy road. I win at 60 mph:p
Our boat would be in storage now until next april.
Screw that cold and snow
Moved to Havasu 20 years ago
[/QUOTEI’ve skitched in Steambot Spring and Telluride for transportation, but the best time was in Austin for fun. Austin hasn’t had enough snow since then to even think about trying to do it again.

Man, that's beautiful.

I DH ski 4-6 times a month from December through March, XC ski with the dog 3-5 days a week when there's snow, and ride a fat tire bike when there's not. And I always hit the gym more regularily in the winter, too. Typically tackle a big house or motorhead project. I try to avoid any big projects between Memorial Day and Labor Day if at all possible because that's the primo boating season. We also always do a full week and at least one long weekend skiing someplace in the Rockies. And of course watching the Packers and drinking beer. Honestly, if you have the correct outdoor gear you can easily operate when it's cold out. My son and I have had many great days skiing in the U.P. with temps in the -5° to -10° range. It keeps the posers away. And the air get SUPER clean in those conditions, so clean you can feel it. But, if it's really windy it can get uncomfortable fast.
I’ve camped out @-30f, I’ve been colder living in Texas. I can put on shorts in Colorado when it’s 40, any time it’s below 40 in Texas I’m in need expedition gear. It really depends on the humidity and how often you are outside

Spent 6 years in Montana... Loved it, even at it's coldest, which for me was -34°. I did a LOT of my restoration projects during the winter. Trans rebuild, body work, interior, etc.. No problems getting here and there, just don't want to do much outside. Winter sports are a different subject, and fun in their own right. Hunting, skiing, etc.

I remembered despite my shortfall of brain cells..
They are called "Dizzies" if the spelling is correct. :p

I’ve got 30+ cousins in Montana, visited all over the state.
I could deal with Choteau (my family stronghold), as it’s the plains and the snow blows off from the wind.
That said, old and cold equals aches and groans.
There are lots of winter projects and , of course , many have snow bird homes in Yuma when they reach retirement age , lol.

The local boys around Boise, ID go fishing...in a 150K+ indestructible jet boat, regardless the weather. They have heaters, bounce off rocks and are quite the rage around these parts. Never saw or heard of one back in my Cali/Havi days, then, I saw one coming up the Snake river wile I was shore fishing, looked like somthing from a Mad max movie. Would be my 3rd boat if I hit the lottery They are called Weld Boats:

I mean, there's snow on the ground. It's cold. It's windy.

I assume you can do snow sports a few times. But then what? Do you have shop to work on projects? Remodel the bathroom?

Ice fishing sounds like I could do that for an hour. Doing fishtails in the car sounds fun. I see all the snowbirds escape to southern climes
maybe that's the key?

Pardon the ignorance of a So Cal kid. If I have to wear long pants I get depressed.

I have been pondering this since when we move it will be to place with a colder winter.
I am gonna do the same stuff I do now. My days of riding snow machines are over, I enjoyed the heck out of the winter sports deal when I did them but since the back surgery and all the new parts it ain't as fun. I plan on having a big shop, bigger than the one I have here. With a bigger propane furnace than the one I have here, insulated, and set up with a jr. man cave area as well as a regular shop.
I always have a couple of projects to keep me busy, and I don't see that changing. Walk from house to shop and vs. versa is no big deal.
You will adapt, and come to appreciate spring and the change of seasons. We have that here, and it gets down into the teens at night. We are right at the snowline so it is hit or miss. We get a ton of rain here during normal winters, and it is not uncommon to rain off/on for a couple of weeks, which drives me nuts. Where we are going it isn't like that.
If we land where I want to land, (wife is being converted, slowly) we will be about 45 minutes to major shopping. State highway all the way, plowed if necessary and enough traffic to keep the roads passable on the occasional days when snow will be an issue.
You will adapt, you'll find things to keep you busy when you are not working, or if retired, there is always the option of bailing south for the cold months, something we may do at some point.
One thing I will tell you.
There is nothing like wood heat. I will never live in any house where I cannot have and burn a wood stove. Yes, central HVAC is a good thing and necessary, but the wood stove and getting that wonderful heat going cannot be beat. If you like a warm house in the winter make darn sure you are not in an area that has banned or restricts wood heat. I try to keep it warm enough in the house for shorts and a tee shirt year round, and use the wood stove to do that.
I came up to NorCal from Long Beach when I was 17 for college.
It was an adjustment, for sure. I arrived just in time for a kick ass winter, about 6 inches of snow in town in overnight, my 56 Ford didn't even have a heater in it and the L60-15 tires on the ass end with a big block Ford under the hood made for an interesting couple of weeks until I could get a heater in the damn thing and throw 300 lbs of sand bags against the tailgate. 70 something inches of rain that year, broke another drought.
Will tell you this...if you make your escape the longer you are out of there the more you will be thankful you moved.

Move to Florida, winter gets really good. I mean sure you have to dodge a few seniors driving the wrong way, but other then that you're good to go.

I also live up in Flagstaff, AZ. I definitely drink more in the winter. And take ibuprofen more, as the cold "reactivates" all old injuries. I try to tackle at least one large vehicle project per winter. Polish and tune. Prep work to have all toys ready for summer. I burn a lot of propane in my garage with my heater. And, to keep up with having driveway beers with neighbors, I have a patio heater that I drag out for that.

All you fuckers that have no issue with 35, or 40 degrees in shorts or water or whatever are just wrong. Wrong.
Hahaha. I'm definitely one of the dummies that always wears shorts. Even if its shorts and a "puffy jacket". Just don't care for leg prisons!

Build motors and outdrives..play guitar, cook and video games. My body does not do the cold anymore. LOTS of outboards to build this winter.
Would you mind sending me your contact info? I might have a Hydrostream project coming in the spring. Without going into to much detail on the forums the power head is going to come off it and getting dropped on the floor. Let’s just say the person who screwed my best friend over on it doesn’t live in Avon MN anymore.
Raise your hand if you know what U.P. is :D :p✋
My heritage. lol
