+1 re. what TPC and others have said about some places being "better" than others.

I learned more about the medical profession and cancer than I ever wanted to when my mom was dx'd with a GBM in '07.

Very aggressive, no hope, 6 months, tumor doubles in size every 2 weeks, stay local and keep her comfortable. The local oncs we were seeing just wanted 6-8 months of our insurance money.

We did some homework, called around, and ended up at Duke. In terms of treatment for brain tumors, they are the Varsity & that includes anywhere in the world. And they don't advertise. Just my opinion, but if cancer treatment places have to market THAT product I'm suspicious of them.

Anyway - Duke gave us nearly 5 years.

My point is it's important to do your homework and get 2nd opinions.

Think of it this way; did you shop for your last car? boat? Patients are the customers in this equation so shop around & don't forget to make sure the caregivers get taken care of as well.
