Why even range such a short shot? Dude was not a skilled shooter, fortunately.
my kids are 18 and 22 my son is oldest and even when he was 15 he could hit 8 inch plate at 150 yards all day long without missing.daughter could hit almost a 100 with a 22 at 11 years old.

guy was just a lousy shot and glad he was.Anyone with decent skills should be hitting a golf ball at 130 yards with ease with a scoped ar.

My wife is not a seasoned shooter, but she does have her own AR with an EOTech on top (no magnifier). She could have made that shot fairly easily.

I’m so glad the SS and local police were able to get on the roof safely with the dead shooter. I wonder if they will be reprimanded for going on that unsafe roof?

It was Kyle's Birthday, Jack sang happy birthday with the audience at a live concert. Kyle's birthday wish was that they don't miss next time. Than they got deported from Austria and the concert tour was cancelled. FAFO.
I watched the video. Seems like Jack is upset about it but honestly it doesn’t surprise me they would be pretty liberal. Never really put much thought into their politics I just liked the music and thought they were funny. I wish entertainers would stay out of politics but I know that’s not the world we live in

Seriously, the three letter agencies need to update their playbooks. Turns out twenty year Cook also made a Bomb (with a garage door opener transmitter) planted in his Van with Arizona plates. “Down by the river?” Can’t make this stuff up.

I can hit a golf ball past that range pretty easy, but I'd venture to say it's likely a little more complicated when lining up a live target.

Absolutely glad the guy missed, just saying very little pressure when "target shooting" vs live target.

I have killed a lot of game in my time, without a bunch of people around in a crowd, not concerned about police or counter sniper teams, no one in the background yelling "what are you doing", and every time, it gets the blood pressure up. I couldn't imagine what it would be like with in human in the scope/irons unless you are trained for that exact setting. Can it be done, sure, just not near as easy IMO.

Thank god Trump turned his head at the last second, and the shooter wasn't an inch better than he was.

No matter miss or not - It was too close for comfort and never should have made it that far...

So USSS has said that it had boosted security around Trump due to Iranian threat and it was prior to PA rally. Really? That was "boosted" security? So Cheatles idea of extra security is leaving a rooftop with a clear line of sight unattended. What a fucking joke.

He made a bomb with a garage door transmitter but there is no search history in his phone? Must have been some kind of genius.

I have a friend who works in the security organization for a very large corporation. The President came to their place of business to give a speech. He told me the SS comes like 3 weeks before and goes through the whole place with a fine tooth comb. He says that when the President comes, that place is locked down like Fort Knox, snipers, undercover agents, dogs, you name it.

I don't know my ass from my head sometimes, but I'd imagine there are similar measures for a former President, especially if he is running to be President again. That said, this thing stinks to high heaven. There appears to be too many things about this whole thing that don't add up. If they saw the shooter 30-45 mins prior, had eyes on him, had people reporting he was on top of a building, where we find out the police are staged, etc... this is some keystone cops type sh*%! I wouldn't doubt there had to be some insider help. Such a sad state of affairs.

One of my old bosses worked at Casa De Cadillac, one of the SS drivers hit a pole with the rear door on the presidential limo and they repaired the car. He said the SS never let the car out of their sight, ever 24/7 always 2 guys there so they can take breaks, they even went into the paint booth with the car. This was 35 years ago. Seems like the car had better protection than Trump did

With that said, the adrenaline and heart rate on an amateur had to be off the charts, unless….. With his father being a mental health professional, what are the odds he was on SSRI’s? My bet is ….

Secret Service was going to meet with congress, willingly.
Alejandro Myorkis stepped in and stopped them. He told congress they need a subpoena.
They’ll likely challenge the subpoena for as long as possible too.
I think its possible they may be involved.

That was the first thing I thought of when I heard the news, but I never knew Joe to be one of them. Who knows.
Maybe SS will interview him......fly on the wall, shut up already.

On Sunday morning my wife showed me a video which appeared to me was filmed seconds before the shooting took place. In the video the person filming picked up some sort of disturbance to the right of the podium. As the camera pans to the right there is some sort of action involving a water cannon. The video doesn't show who the water blast is being aimed at but it seemed like one of the cannons used for crowd control.

Almost as soon as you see the water blast, the camera turns quickly back to the podium as the shots are now ringing out.

Did anyone else see this video or hear what happened as I wondered if it was a diversion and other things were happening at the same time as the shooting.
I seen one too that I thought was a water cannon. Then I watched it a few more times and I think it is a hydraulic line blowing or shot on the telehandler that was holding up speakers because the boom and speakers are falling at the same time.

It also makes the poster appear unserious and gullible.

Good enough from the Director herself?

"That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof," she told ABC News in an interview Tuesday.

"And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside."

Of course, that now seems suspect:

  • A U.S. Secret Service official said a Pennsylvania police SWAT team was in another building than the one whose roof was used Saturday by Thomas Crooks to shoot at former President Donald Trump.
  • The new account contradicts a prior claim by Secret Service director Kimberly Cheatle that Crooks was on top of the building containing the SWAT team near Trump’s campaign rally in Butler.

It was extremely fortunate 30+ people weren't shot.

The cop listened to a bystander and went up the ladder to check, perp pointed the AR at him.
Cop descended and radioed, Cop sniper on the 14 degree roof went to work
Kill shot was just a little late because the perp had a small head start.
The three or so shots the perp fired all made hits and one fatal who was pushing his daughter and wife to the ground (Bleacher floor). A firefighter none the less.

The best chance the perp had at Trump was the first shot only. I feel the remaining shots were taken in the perps dying phase as he fell flat. Striking random.
The difference in timing was maybe a 1/2 second IMO.

Completely avoidable with better leadership and possibly some divine intervention was in play whatever that means.

I have been staying out of posting in this thread because there are many engaged people here who know miles more than what I understand.
Writing this helps me clarify.

The actual cops engaged. The secret service remained a secret minus the gal that couldn't figure out how to holster her weapon.

Breaking news right now: SS knew of the threat at least 10 minutes before Trump took the stage. The agent in charge was on the phone to superiors discussing the threat when the shooting occurred. Unbelievable...

On FOX now.
They (SS) knew the shooter was there before Trump took the stage.
Over an hour prior they identified him as a potential problem when he was seen with the rangefinder and a backpack?
10 min prior to Trump taking the stage they IDed him as a threat...and let DT go on anyway.
Heads need to roll, and this will be a training topic for cops doing VIP protection for decades to come.

Can you imagine what that dipshit felt like the moment they heard those shots. What a disaster.

The only thing that went wrong from the perspective of the SS is the shooter (solo?) missed.
