Got this pic from the polisher kid. 4313.jpg
I had cleaned it up some , but I left grinding marks in it. They're gone now.

I'm dying to see the intake...

Upholstery shop today. Tore apart the old hatch to see what kind of shape the foam was in. It's actually in really good condition. Remember, this was original from 1996. 20170521_115202.jpg

I've got the new plywood cut. I have to put the stunt motor back in to get the speaker pods placed correctly. They just miss the exhaust risers. 20170521_122216.jpg

Laminated the bottom side with a single layer of 1808. Once it kicks off, I can locate the pods, filet them and tab them on permanently. I have to make a couple ribs to stiffen up the middle. Those will be between the exhaust risers and the intake plenum. :D

Hiding as many things as I can. I drilled and tapped a hole in the floor of the plenum, and another in the valley. Bushing fits snug, but the pcv valve won't be staring at me on the valve cover. 20170521_220252.jpg

Mocking up the new hatch, and marking the location for speaker pods.

Where did you end up putting the MAP sensor? Looks cool.

Same as the pcv. Drilled a hole and spun a barb fitting in it. It'll be hidden between the runners.

Again using marglass to create a filet. Waiting for this to cure so I can finish it up without it moving. 20170522_124713.jpg

Bitchen work. You thought about how to trim it ?

As far as how to terminate the vinyl where it wraps around from the top? Yep. Going to run small strips of aluminum all the way around. I can't come up with anything else. I don't want to add another thickness of plywood, etc... any thoughts?

Finished up the holes for my dash panel this morning, and had a few odds and ends to finish on the seat bases.
They are getting painted tomorrow. 20170531_092817.jpg

Good choice on dash. Im not a fan of my checker plate.
Did ya go SS or aluminium?
Thanks Jimmy. How's your boat coming along?
The switch panels are ss, I had those water jetted last year. The big panel is aluminum and it's getting painted Orange to match the stripes on the boat.

Cant see any other way. I see the tubes penetrate the hatch. Is that for enclosure volume? You're going to have to pinch down 2" of foam though?

The pods do not penetrate the hatch. The pod side, or underside is getting sprayed with gelcoat, and the top will have foam and vinyl. I'm thinking where it wraps from the top around to the underside right at the four edges it'll get a narrow strip of aluminum as a termination bar. Ss machine screws into t-nuts.

Make sense?

Might wait n see how yours turns out then readdress mine after i get the seats recovered.
Painting its probably a good idea less glare in the sun.

Been on holidays so haven't had a chance to do much.
Just been waiting on a few cash jobs to come in so i can finish these exhausts.

Picked up my trailer from the sand blaster dude.

First order of business was to weld all the holes sgut from the old lights. 20170601_163003.jpg
The new clearance lights I want to use need a 3/4" hole, and the existing were 7/8". So I cut up some small pieces and welded them in place behind the hole, then filled the void with weld. Made it flat with a flap disc on the 4"grinder. 20170601_174408.jpg
20170601_174431.jpg
20170601_180036.jpg
I also welded all the old rivet holes shut, and ground those flat as well. All in, all done, it took an hour. 20170601_171725.jpg

After finishing that up, I pulled it back outside, and set it up on some 55 gal drums to get the epoxy primed squirted on it. 20170601_213558.jpg
The primer I used is a water born/amine based epoxy. It'll make for some great cross linking with the white axalta imron topcoat I'm applying tomorrow. The imron uses an isocyanate in it to cure it, and also give it it's durability qualities. Amines and isocyanates get along really well.

Looking good, just wondering what they charged to sandblast the trailer. Thanks!

Im not sure what ud use now with the primer already on but I wiped the whole trailer down with acetone before the top coats. Like even the oil from ya finger prints come through.

You are going to want to flip the PCV valve bud.

They only work correctly in the vertical plane. :D

Gotta get wired to the speakers somehow. I cut a mousehole with a die grinder to let the 3/4" ss tube into the pods. 20170603_202417.jpg

Made the bilge white, and glassed in the floor up front. 20170605_200154.jpg

Floor section has a layer of 1808 on the underside, and I layed it in a bed of marglass. I'm about to laminate the top.

Glassed, tabbed, sealed. Time to finish smoothing out some lumps in the floor, then gel. 🤘

Have work meetings in July either in Chicago or Minneapolis. Either location will get to me to the family cabin in WI (Crandon) for the weekend before or after the meetings :)

Metonga, Lucerne?
