Both v-drives which boat handles better?
I love grip deck. I love the way it looks, I love the way it feels under my feet. I know that silly, but that’s a big deal to me. Not that I don’t love me some hockey sticks too, just not as much.Let's ask this.
If both boats were built with identical power and setups what hull would you buy?
Let's see the killers of each manufacturer as this is the long ole debate
That would depend on your seating arrangement. So is this a battle for second place orrrr 3rd?
The GN class has taught us Rayson’s handle the the best

Might get banned but vector looks better imo.
Hmm, I drove a Schiada once at Lake Mead with external steering that amazed me.Such a pretty boat and so nicely rigged, Eye of the Tiger handles a lot better. I’m not a fan of the external rudder at all. Owning that one and Eye of the Tiger, there’s no comparison imo.

Mike King, Gary Teague, Steve Stenton, Bill Dunsmore have all built one off Schiadas that rival or exceed anything Lee/Stan have assembled. All of these guys custom build to the owners personal tastes.Did Hallett build any V-drive Vectors in house? Or were they all blank hulls that someone else built? The GT boats are nice, anything Priime or Mike King built is pretty nice. In my mind though having a Schiada rigged by Stan and whoever is working there at the time, is pretty hard to beat. Stan knows what works and what doesn’t. Lee is the best at setting plates on his boats and picking props, not to say there aren’t other people that can do all that, but that’s why buying a Schiada built and set up by Schiada is worth all the money.

External rudders have their place, they work exceptionally well for 110+ RCs.I guess we all have our individual experiences with all the different set ups.

what are the benefits?
what handling characteristics are noticed? (I've only ever driven 2 RC's, and only one over 70ish)
Of course there were two of the Eye of Tiger boats.Such a pretty boat and so nicely rigged, Eye of the Tiger handles a lot better. I’m not a fan of the external rudder at all. Owning that one and Eye of the Tiger, there’s no comparison imo.

I’d think it would be the opposite since the pivot point is further back. Interesting.Sure and at slow or cruising speeds the steering feels unresponsive which can be unnerving.
The wash from the prop creates the leverage to turn. At idle those boats barely turn at allI’d think it would be the opposite since the pivot point is further back. Interesting.
A simple flip of the coin will settle any debate on that subject.Might get banned but vector looks better imo.
Interesting debate, but you also need to consider boats are built for different purposes. Personally, I have driven a number of Schiadas, Halletts and even at least one 21' Rayson with big power, both turbo and blown. When I changed my Schiada from blown to turbo everyone wanted to know what the difference was. My honest answer was that both were running different levels of boost, so there was no direct comparison.
Here we go!!!!! LolThat’s a nice pc no offense to anyone answer.. but if you read between the lines the answer is there in the sentence “WHEN I CHANGED MY SCHIADA”.

Only due to my background with turbos, dating back to when I worked for Gale Banks. That’s a nice pc no offense to anyone answer.. but if you read between the lines the answer is there in the sentence “WHEN I CHANGED MY SCHIADA”.

I wish I had taste. I'd love to have one of those!Mike King, Gary Teague, Steve Stenton, Bill Dunsmore have all built one off Schiadas that rival or exceed anything Lee/Stan have assembled. All of these guys custom build to the owners personal tastes.
The Brummitt molds are here in Tucson. Im sure Eddie McPheeters will lay one up for you for the right price. If a Brummett comes available I’ll sell a kidney for it. Actually I have a stash waiting. They’re amazingly built boats.
