Lazy dog?
Not sure. It's on a corner, it had an outside bar, which was closed, and a big outside area. Looked fairly new. I had over served myself at that point of the evening so things got a little fuzzy.

...Friend of mine has a different idea for an approach ...that we all chip in and buy an old single-story roadside Motel with swimming pool and we will all take care of each other in our old age
... problem with that my Friend is not a fun kind of drinker:cool:

I like this idea. Knock out some walls put in kitchens. I may be stealing this...

...Had to go see it for myself before it’s gone...simply amazing that this has been going on for 8 or so years...
...saw everything from normal looking middle class mother and daughter to a Charles Manson lookalike...spoke with 2 women in a golf cart who have the motorhome set up offering assistance...the size and magnitude of the tent city just blows me away???

The clean up started earlier this week - Are they all gone yet?

How many have left if some are still there?

I can only attest to the Orangewood Ave (southeast-side of Angles stadium) area but from what I see everyday no one has left.

Boise was hit hard also in the big crash...I think that's obvious...I had young friends go borrow on they're houses and then give them back or short sale them..They had new vehicles and other cool stuff...but boned the bank on a loan they signed for..that's where I drew the line. You made a commitment and then bailed. Both my sons buckled down and made payments on they're homes knowing full well the were lots of money upside down...now they are both on the plus sides again and in fact homes are worth more then they were when they were at peak...I was very proud of them for living up to a contract....

What are they doing to make sure the next wave of homeless don't move in?

1200 lbs of human feces and pet waste along with ~5200 needles/syringes....Crazy!! and the tax payers are paying to put them up in hotels for a month.

The link said that some have already been kicked out.

I'm sure.. the question is who and for what. If people are doing illegal activities in the hotel or destroying it, they should be kicked out.

I assure you no one just got kicked out for no reason. Those hotels are getting a pretty penny ($1M) for housing around 800 homeless people for a month. That is roughly $1250 a head, per month.

???

Well only if you're going to be all judgmental and consider rooms filled with trash, feces and hypodermic needles destroyed.:p

Just watch there will be a lawsuit from someone that "finds" a needle in one of these hotels soon after the homeless leave and after the place is "cleaned up" and opened back up to the public.

So they don't have to work, get free food, a free hotel room, don't get in trouble for drugs, and probably get free condoms. What more does a guy need?:D

That's kind of the way I always looked at it.. Nobody forced you to sign, but if you sign it you better nut up and fulfill your obligations.

I'm wondering how many on here have dealt with the homeless intimately. One of my brothers is mentally ill, and his state of life is basically in jail or homeless. I can't tell you how many countless times my mom, or I, set him up. Place to live, recovery houses, half way houses, sober living houses, Apartments, you freakin name it.. The count would probably be in the 30-40 range.

Before I moved to LHC one of my tasks that I would do for the family was kind of oversee that program, and try to help out where we could.

What most of you don't know.. Homeless people generally speaking make a shit load of money. LOL I know it sounds bizarre, but honestly they really do. Take for example my brother, he gets I think 11-1200 a month (maybe more now?) from SSI. Then he will also pan handle, and he flat out laughs about the ridiculous money they can pull in, in one hour.. 75.00 isn't unreasonable or even difficult to do, and that's cash.

Quite literally all of that money goes towards booze or drugs. Some of it goes towards food on occasion. None of it goes towards clothes or necessities, why buy that shit when the family will give it to ya? Which brings us to the second point.. WTF do I want to work for "I have money!!"

For himself and his comrades they enjoy the shit out of it. They don't call it being homeless, he and his friends call it "Going out doors."

Now are you ready for the real kick in the balls? LOL That money he gets is pretty much used entirely on partying.. Well in that partying he'll get wasted and do stupid shit, which means he will go to jail. He had something like 176 Drunk in publics the last year I dealt with him, which technically means he spent more time under the government roof then he did outdoors.. LOL (which also costs you money). Well the courts got so fed up with it they start imposing longer sentences (makes sense right?).. It has the opposite effect, he'll go to jail for say 6-8 months. That SSI Money "technically" is supposed to stop if you are incarcerated... Let me save you the suspense it never does. He'll come out of jail (which YOU GUYS ALL PAID FOR), and he'll come out to having 7-8,000.00 in the bank!! To which he'll go and buy a cell phone, and the entire homeless community in North County will flat ass Rage for 2-3 days. I shit you not he calls it "supporting the local economy". The first night my phone will blow up with all sorts of fucked up crazy mentally ill messages.. Which is fine because by day 2 he always loses the damn phone anyways so it stops pretty quick. Then at the end of all that one of his friends will call me and tell me some fucked up story of some crazy shit and he's either back in jail or who knows..

Now are you ready for the double throw down super kick to the freakin balls? Every now and again he'll feel ambitious and walk right into that SSI office and say "I want to start a business." Well that's about the length of the conversation.. No business plan, I"m not even sure they give a fuck what kinda business it is.. Here is your 5 or 10 grand Mr. Johnson! Virtually no accountability to how the money is spent. The last carpet cleaning biz he had, I don't even think they bought a carpet cleaner. LOL Got the cash and partied like it was 1999.. and they can do that like every two years I think?

I understand there are some people out there that fell on hard times, and can't seem to find a way out. I'm hear to tell you I have been around more fucking homeless people than I ever care to admit. I'd say that % of people that want out are literally less than 5%. The rest (at least in North County) enjoy the freedom, the community, the party, the adventure, the free money, and especially the booze and drugs. They have no intention of changing, nor do they give a shit.. And why would they? You get your money for nothing and your chicks for free.

That is a little sliver of what liberal policies ends up getting you. For those Dems that think everyone just needs a hand up.. Well I'm a bleeding heart too, if someone is willing to try.. But with shit like this? I'll happily take ya down and introduce you around.. You can give these people all the money in the world, and they don't fucking care, they live like that because they like it. In some fashion, they'd rather have a social order in the "outdoors" community, then have to start at the bottom of a civilized community.

Sadly rd is right on the money here. I saw it with my aunt, long time meth head. Over 20 years my grandparents spent just under 1 million on her trying to get her out of the life. T one point she was clean for 2 years, had just passed all of her nursing classes, the day of the test she never showed. Bout a week latr my cousin came to live with us for 7 years... It was 4 before my aunt came looking for her. Near the end of her life my grandfather use too say it was better for them too pay rent for her some where then it was too be at their house. The worst part of all this she was extremely smart, like mensa smart, graduated hs at 14. I can not tell you the number of times she had a chance too be productive, but chose not too. The only good thing I can say bout her is she made it a point too never get her drivers licence. In her words " I would have drove high or drunk and killed some one... I did not want too do that."

I realy feel bad for those that are down on their luck, most want to be there.

My brother already did kill someone in a car. We have managed to keep him from getting a license for years, but one of my biggest concerns is that he'll come out of jail and instead of go partying, he'll buy some old Honda and be back on the road again. Registration and licenses are for those other guys.. LOL

My old man before he died asked me to guy a one way ticket to Hawaii, and take him over there and drop him off. Even offered to stack a bank account with cash each week. Hawaii has perfect weather and they are pretty sympathetic to homeless people I guess? Good medical or something... I"m not sure, I think he read it in some article somewhere.

Nowadays he's spending more time in the clink then out, so it's not as bad as it used to be, but it still crushes me to know as soon as he gets out.. There's mom ready to help again, ready to get her hopes up again, and ready to be deflated yet again. No matter how many times it happens as a parent she just can't help but think "This time he's gonna make it." It's horrible. It also bothers me that when he gets out she gets in her car and drives around looking for him to give him clothes and supplies.. In those adventures she gets to ask all the homeless people if they have seen him or not. Nothing's ever happened to her yet, but I still worry about it.

My grandmother was the same way with my aunt. Always ready too bail her out. My aunt did spend much time in jail, just a couple years for welfare fruad... they don't like it when you draw from 4 counties at once. What really gets me when my mom worked for ftb (franchise tac board) when I was very young(7 ish) my aunt got more in welfare then my mom' brought home. By about $100 or so, which when you are only bring home just under $600 that is a very big deal.

Why work when you can do what ever you want and bring home more money then some one working full time? I remember use collecting coke bottles from our apartment complex, walking with them too the grocery store a couple blocks away and come home with a bag of food. At the time I thought every one did that, little did I know that's how we were eating some times. I never knew we were poor.

We lived among them for roughly 5 years in O'side down at the beach. We were out and about every night walking our pups. We walked around Downtown O' on the weekends. We saw all types of homeless... lazy kids, lazy adults, people who fried their brains so badly they were never ever return, the mentally challenged folks, etc.

One of the reasons we moved from Downtown. Other than being a nuisance, they contribute NOTHING to society. Just dirtied up my neighborhood.
