Austin was asked how he defines "America's goals for success" in Ukraine. He first said that the US wants to see "Ukraine remain a sovereign country, a democratic country, able to protect its sovereign territory." But then he added: "We want to see Russia weakened to the degree it cannot do the kind things that it has done in invading Ukraine."

Last year their population was 43 million. At that number, 750$ or so per man, woman and child...of course, their "dollar" is currently worth 1/30th of ours. So if it were going to the people, they'd be pretty happy.

What 9 out of 10 may fail to notice...majority of those "Russian" soldiers are being interviewed, and answering, in Ukrainian....

I'm sure it's just because it's been such a long campaign, so the standard infantryman has been able to become fluent in another language/ secondary dialect...
A lot of similarities between the two languages, like Portuguese and Spanish I suppose.

The problem is, the NATO countries' news is definitely askew one direction, and those that back the Russian, DPR and Chechen alliance slant equal the other.

The only questions I have: Why should we take a side in what was a civil war? If the Ukrainian soldiers are doing so well, why do they need so much backup? (With funds, weapons and mercs?)

Was just reading an inventory list of gear sent to Ukraine. Reads about like the list left in Afghanistan...except for more howitzers. The "switchblade", I think it was, drone is a loitering munition. The translation from Russian to English gets fuzzy, and I didn't know what civilians meant buy "flying mines" hitting apartment buildings...

As of this morning, the last civilians were evacuated from the Azovstol plant. 200+ last week, 300+ this weekend. There had been a cease fire brokered by some humanitarian groups, and agreed upon. Both sides are in agreement that it is only soldiers embedded now. Zalensky is asking for western help to evacuate his "heros". Russia wants full surrender. Yesterday NATO came out and said they may have a few dozen "instructors" trapped there. Both Ukraine and Russia say there are "western" mercenaries there...
